I walked up to Zhao Tianyu and stood beside him. Chen Feng looked at us, his face pale and sweat pouring down. He glanced around and realized that there was no one left in the venue to support him.
He shouted angrily, "Why? Why have you all betrayed me?"
Zhao Tianyu calmly replied, "Chen Feng, you have never truly trusted anyone. In your eyes, there are only eternal interests, not eternal friends."
"Today, I want to tell you and everyone else: uphold your principles and bottom lines. Even when faced with great temptation and pressure, do not easily compromise."
"Because the truth may be delayed, but it will never be absent."
Chen Feng was taken away by the police. Before leaving, he turned back and looked at Zhao Tianyu unwillingly, "Zhao Tianyu, do you think you've won?"
Zhao Tianyu sighed, "Chen Feng, do you know what true victory is?"
"True victory is not about defeating your opponent but proving your innocence and adhering to your principles."
Chen Feng did not understand; he laughed maniacally, "Hahaha, what nonsense is this? I only know that the victor takes all."
Zhao Tianyu shook his head helplessly and ignored him.
After Chen Feng was taken away, Zhao Tianyu walked towards me.
"Lin Xiang, I owe you an explanation," he said sincerely. "I know that in the eyes of many people, I am Chen Feng's accomplice. But in reality, I did not intend to target you."
"Your talent is something I envy. But your character is also something I admire."
"I admit that I have used unscrupulous means to achieve my goals. But I also have my own principles and bottom lines."
"I respect the efforts and achievements of others, and I despise those who steal the fruits of others' labor."
I nodded and said gratefully, "Zhao Tianyu, thank you. Thank you for helping me."
"If it weren't for you, our project launch wouldn't have gone so smoothly."
Zhao Tianyu smiled slightly, "No need to thank me. In fact, we have always been competitors."
"However, if there's an opportunity in the future, I hope to collaborate with you once."
I patted his shoulder and said, "There will definitely be opportunities."
After the project officially started, I returned home. There was no news from Su Wan, nor any sign of her whereabouts. I sat alone in the living room, looking out at the bustling night scene, feeling an unprecedented sense of loneliness.
I recalled the times spent with Su Wan in college. Back then, we vowed to fight for our artistic dreams. We ate instant noodles together, sketched together, and ran to the market together. We loved each other deeply and cherished this beautiful world.
But later, we changed. Su Wan began to pursue materialism and vanity, loving herself more than she loved art. I had given her chances and time, but she did not change.
A month later, I received a call from Su Wan. On the phone, she told me that she had met a famous painter and that she would be going abroad to further her studies. I felt a deep sense of loss; I knew that our relationship had come to an end.
Walking through the bustling streets, I looked at this prosperous yet indifferent city, filled with confusion. I thought about everything that had happened during this time—about Chen Feng, Zhao Tianyu, Su Wan, and all those team members who worked hard for the project.
I remembered my original self and my initial dreams. I asked myself if I still remembered the original intention behind designing this project. Was it merely to realize a dream? Or to prove my worth? Or perhaps to leave my mark in this city?
I pondered for a long time but still couldn't figure it out.
