Yan Jien found the charger in the living room, charged his phone, and then returned to the room.
"I recorded everything that happened last night, and I'm going to show it to you now," Yan Jien said to Tong Liya.
"Okay..." Tong Liya nodded, wrapping herself tightly in a blanket like an ostrich.
Yan Jien opened his phone and played the video recorded from last night. In the video, Tong Liya slowly transformed from a deformed monster back to normal, then into a creature with antlers and bat wings, and finally into the werewolf that Yan Jien had turned into...
Tong Liya watched the video, her eyes widening more and more.
"Is... is this real?" Tong Liya asked incredulously.
"Yes," Yan Jien nodded.
"I... I thought... thought..." Tong Liya stammered.
"You thought you slept with me?" Yan Jien laughed.
"Um..." Tong Liya's face turned red.
"Haha, your thoughts are really dirty," Yan Jien teased.
"You..." Tong Liya was both embarrassed and angry as she picked up a pillow and threw it at Yan Jien.
"Okay, okay, I won't tease you anymore," Yan Jien caught the pillow and tossed it back to Tong Liya.
"Did... did I really not?" Tong Liya asked softly.
"Of course not," Yan Jien said with a wry smile, "Even though you lost your mind last night, you are still a virgin."
"Oh..." Tong Liya sighed in relief.
"How do you feel now?" Yan Jien asked.
"I... I feel very tired, like I've run several kilometers," Tong Liya said.
"That's normal," Yan Jien replied, "You just completed your transformation; your body needs time to adjust."
"What... what should I do?" Tong Liya asked in confusion.
"Well..." Yan Jien hesitated for a moment before saying, "Actually, your mother also underwent a mutation back in the day and was tricked into being experimented on; I was too..."
Then, Yan Jien detailed everything he knew to Tong Liya. After hearing what Yan Jien said, Tong Liya was stunned.
"So... Mom has been hiding such a big secret all along..." Tong Liya said sadly.
"Your mother didn't tell you because she didn't want you to worry," Yan Jien comforted her.
"I... I didn't expect my mom to have suffered so much..." Tong Liya choked up.
"Liya, don't be sad," Yan Jien gently patted Tong Liya's shoulder and said, "You're grown up now; you should learn to be strong."
"I... I understand," Tong Liya wiped her tears and asked, "What should I do in the future?"
"Well..." Yan Jien thought for a moment before saying, "Do you want to follow me?"
"Huh?" Tong Liya was taken aback.
"I mean, you can be my sister," Yan Jien explained.
"Sister?" Tong Liya was astonished.
"Yes," Yan Jien nodded and said, "You just completed your transformation and are unfamiliar with the outside world, while I happen to be a Mutant Human who can guide you."
"I..." Tong Liya fell silent.
"You don't have to rush to answer me," Yan Jien said. "Take your time to think it over. No matter what you choose in the end, I will support you."
"I... I will go with you," Tong Liya said seriously as she lifted her head.
"Are you sure?" Yan Jien asked in surprise.
"Yes," Tong Liya nodded solemnly and said, "I have nothing now, and you are the only one willing to take me in."
"Alright," Yan Jien smiled slightly and said, "You should rest for now. I'll go buy some things."
"Okay," Tong Liya replied softly.
Yan Jien left the room and gently closed the door behind him.
He looked out the window, feeling complicated emotions.
The reason he decided to take in Tong Liya was not only out of sympathy but also for another consideration.
Now that he had killed Professor Fang, it was only a matter of time before he would be exposed.
Once the police traced it back to him, he would find himself in huge trouble.
To avoid this situation, he needed to strengthen his power as soon as possible.
And Tong Liya was undoubtedly a powerful ally.
Of course, this was just one of the reasons for taking her in.
More importantly, he felt that Tong Liya was very much like him; they were both Mutant Humans who had experienced despair and fear.
Perhaps they could become companions.
Yan Jien took a deep breath and walked toward the supermarket.
He bought some groceries and daily necessities before returning to Tong Liya's home.
He put the items in the kitchen and then went back to the room.
At that moment, Tong Liya was lying on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
"Liya, I bought some things. Are you hungry?" Yan Jien asked.
"I'm not hungry, thank you," Tong Liya replied softly.
"Okay," Yan Jien nodded and said, "I'll be in the living room; call me if you need anything."
With that, Yan Jien left the room.
He sat cross-legged in the living room and entered a meditative state.
Now, his wounds had healed, but his internal injuries were still severe.
He needed to focus on healing as quickly as possible.
Time passed by.
At six-thirty in the evening, Yan Jien stopped meditating.
He opened his eyes, a hint of fatigue flashing across them.
Although meditation helped him recover from his injuries, it consumed a lot of mental energy, and he couldn't sustain it for long.
"It's time to go back," Yan Jien thought to himself.
He had stayed at Tong Liya's home for two full days; it was time for him to return.
He still has urgent matters to attend to. The two dogs he raises—Bread and Milk Tea—are still at Jinyuan Mountain. Although he lets Bread and Milk Tea hunt for themselves, he is still worried. After all, Jinyuan Mountain is too vast, and no one knows what dangers are hidden within.
In addition, he is also concerned about Yan Weila. These past few days, he has been busy taking care of Tong Liya and has neglected Yan Weila. He must go back to check on her.
"Liya, I have something to take care of," Yan Jien said as he entered the room and spoke to Tong Liya.
"Are you leaving?" Tong Liya asked nervously.
"Yes," Yan Jien nodded and said, "You stay at home and behave; don't run around."
"Can... can I go with you?" Tong Liya asked tentatively.
"You want to come with me?" Yan Jien asked in surprise.
"Yes," Tong Liya nodded and said, "I'm... I'm a bit scared."
"Well..." Yan Jien frowned. He didn't mind taking Tong Liya along; he was just worried that Yan Weila might misunderstand.
"Brother Yan Jien, please..." Tong Liya pleaded, pulling on Yan Jien's arm.
"Alright," Yan Jien hesitated for a moment before agreeing. At this point, he couldn't worry too much. If Yan Weila really minded, they could just separate. He was already used to solitude; having one more person for company would be nice.
"Really? That's great!" Tong Liya exclaimed excitedly, jumping up.
"Go pack your things," Yan Jien smiled.
"Okay!"
