"Liya, you should go take a shower and change your clothes," Yan Jien said, pointing to the bathroom.
"Okay," Tong Liya nodded and walked into the bathroom.
Yan Jien held the vase containing Tong Liya's mother's ashes and walked to the living room balcony, waiting quietly.
Half an hour later, Tong Liya finished washing up.
She wore the black and white plaid high-waisted skirt that Yan Jien had helped her choose, paired with a black sheer top, looking particularly pure and cute.
"Yan Jien gege, I'm ready," Tong Liya called out as she walked out of the bathroom.
"Mm," Yan Jien responded, turning to look at Tong Liya and smiled, "You look quite beautiful."
"Thank you," Tong Liya said, her cheeks slightly flushed.
"Liya, I want to discuss something with you," Yan Jien said.
"What is it?" Tong Liya asked, puzzled.
"How about you move in with me?" Yan Jien suggested.
"Ah?" Tong Liya was taken aback.
"Don't misunderstand; I'm just trying to take care of you more conveniently," Yan Jien explained. "You've just undergone a mutation, and the situation is very uncertain. You need someone to watch over you all the time."
"But..." Tong Liya hesitated.
"Are you reluctant to leave this home?" Yan Jien asked.
"Mm," Tong Liya nodded, feeling downcast. "This is the only thing my parents left me..."
"Sigh," Yan Jien sighed and said, "But it's too dangerous for you to stay here."
"Alright," Tong Liya nodded reluctantly and said, "I'll listen to you."
"Then let's go," Yan Jien said.
"Mm," Tong Liya replied softly.
The two left Tong Liya's home and headed downstairs.
"Yan Jien gege, is your neck injury okay?" Tong Liya looked at the hickey on Yan Jien's neck with guilt.
"Cough cough..." Yan Jien awkwardly coughed twice and said, "It's a bit uncomfortable, but I'll manage."
"I'm sorry..." Tong Liya apologized.
"It's fine," Yan Jien waved his hand and said, "Try not to go to the hospital in the future; even if you do go, don't let them draw blood."
"Why?" Tong Liya asked curiously.
"Our blood will decompose in a short time and can easily expose our identities," Yan Jien explained.
"Oh," Tong Liya nodded as if she understood but was still unsure.
"By the way, pay attention these days; if you notice any abnormalities in your body, remember to tell me promptly," Yan Jien reminded her.
"Okay." Tong Liya nodded.
The two chatted as they got into the car.
It was already past seven in the evening, and night had fallen with the city lights coming on.
Yan Jien drove towards Jubao Huayuan.
"Eh?" Yan Jien exclaimed in surprise.
"What's wrong?" Tong Liya asked, puzzled.
"Nothing," Yan Jien smiled and said, "The dogs I have are doing quite well in the mountains."
He had just sensed that Bread and Milk Tea were chasing prey in the mountains, looking energetic.
This completely relieved Yan Jien.
He had previously worried that Bread and Milk Tea wouldn't adapt to the wild environment.
"Brother Yan Jien, you have dogs?" Tong Liya said in surprise.
"Yeah," Yan Jien nodded and smiled, "A pair of Huskies."
"Huskies?" Tong Liya's eyes widened as she said, "I've heard Huskies are quite mischievous."
"Yeah," Yan Jien nodded with a smile and said, "They are indeed quite mischievous, but they're very cute."
"Then I want to see them," Tong Liya said with great interest.
"Sure, I'll take you to see them next time," Yan Jien smiled.
As they chatted, the car entered Jubao Huayuan.
Yan Jien drove directly into the underground parking lot.
His new home was on the 29th floor, a spacious three-bedroom apartment, beautifully decorated, fully furnished and equipped with appliances, ready for immediate move-in.
He rented this place mainly because of its good security measures, which could prevent Bread and Milk Tea from causing any trouble.
Of course, the rent wasn't cheap, at eight thousand per month.
For Yan Jien, this wasn't a big deal.
After years of working as a designer, he had saved up a considerable amount of money.
"Liya, you can sleep in the master bedroom from now on," Yan Jien said to Tong Liya.
"What about you?" Tong Liya asked.
"I'll sleep in the second bedroom," Yan Jien replied.
"No way," Tong Liya shook her head and said, "You're the owner; how can you sleep in the second bedroom?"
"What owner or not," Yan Jien chuckled and said, "You're my sister; of course you get to sleep in the master bedroom."
"But..." Tong Liya wanted to say something more.
"That's settled then." Yan Jien waved his hand and said, "You go pack your things, and I'll help you with your luggage."
"Alright then," Tong Liya said, no longer insisting.
She picked up her suitcase and walked to the door, suddenly stopping and softly saying, "Yan Jien, brother, thank you."
"Silly girl," Yan Jien smiled as he ruffled Tong Liya's hair.
Tong Liya smiled slightly and pushed the door open to enter the room.
"Sigh..." Yan Jien shook his head and sighed quietly.
Tong Liya was too fragile, just like he used to be.
Perhaps he really should find someone to accompany him.
...
Half an hour later.
"Yan Jien, brother, I'm done packing," Tong Liya said as she walked out of the room with a suitcase.
"That was quick?" Yan Jien exclaimed in surprise.
"Just a few pieces of clothing," Tong Liya replied.
"Then you should rest for a bit; I'll go tidy up the room," Yan Jien said.
"I'll help you," Tong Liya offered.
"No need," Yan Jien shook his head and said, "You just took a shower; you should rest for a while."
"Well... okay then," Tong Liya hesitated before agreeing.
Yan Jien picked up the suitcase and walked into the guest room.
Tong Liya stood in the living room, looking around.
The house had a simple and elegant decor style, with brand new furniture and appliances that looked clean and tidy.
Tong Liya really liked this house.
However, when she caught a whiff of the scent coming from the sofa in the living room, her expression changed instantly.
This scent was something she had smelled before at the door of room 2802 across the hall!
