Listening to their conversation, Yan Jien had a strange expression.
"Yan Jien gege, what are they talking about?" Tong Liya asked curiously.
"It's nothing," Yan Jien shook his head.
The two arrived at the parking lot downstairs of the company.
"Liya, you wait for me in the car. I'm going to collect my commission and handle some matters," Yan Jien said.
"Yan Jien gege, I want to go with you," Tong Liya said.
"This..." Yan Jien hesitated.
He wasn't worried about anything else; he was concerned that Tong Liya would feel embarrassed at the company. After all, he had just resigned not long ago, and now bringing Tong Liya back felt a bit strange.
"Yan Jien gege, please let me go with you," Tong Liya pleaded.
"Alright," Yan Jien said helplessly.
"Thank you, Yan Jien gege," Tong Liya said happily.
The two got out of the car and walked into the company together. On the way, they encountered several colleagues who greeted Yan Jien.
"Brother Yan, hello."
"Hello," Yan Jien smiled.
"Brother Yan, who is this beautiful lady?" someone asked.
"My sister," Yan Jien replied.
"Oh, so it's your sister," everyone suddenly realized.
Tong Liya pouted upon hearing this.
She didn't want to be Yan Jien's sister.
At that moment, Pan Dongcheng arrived.
"Hey, Designer Yan, finally decided to come back?" Pan Dongcheng said sarcastically.
"I'm not familiar with you, so don't try to get close," Yan Jien replied calmly.
"You..." Pan Dongcheng was speechless with anger.
"Brother Yan, let's go," Tong Liya said, pulling on Yan Jien's hand.
"Okay," Yan Jien nodded.
The two of them walked inside.
"Damn, when did this guy get a girlfriend again?" Pan Dongcheng said jealously.
"Who knows?" Deng Kaiwen said gleefully.
"Damn it, one day I'm going to deal with him," Pan Dongcheng said fiercely.
"I advise you not to provoke him," Deng Kaiwen said.
"Why?" Pan Dongcheng asked in confusion.
"He's trained in Taekwondo," Deng Kaiwen replied.
"No way, really?" Pan Dongcheng exclaimed in surprise.
"Why would I lie to you?" Deng Kaiwen said.
"Then I won't provoke him," Pan Dongcheng backed down.
...
"Brother Yan, you're here," the receptionist Huang Li greeted warmly.
"Huang Li, long time no see," Yan Jien smiled.
"Brother Yan, you finally made it! The girls in our company have been dying to see you," Huang Li teased.
"Don't joke around," Yan Jien said awkwardly.
"I'm serious," Huang Li insisted earnestly.
"..." Yan Jien was at a loss for words.
"Who's this sister?" Huang Li asked curiously.
"My sister," Yan Jien replied.
"Oh," Huang Li responded with a hint of disappointment in her eyes.
Yan Jien said nothing more and took Tong Liya's hand as they went upstairs.
Upon arriving at the finance office, Yan Jien took Tong Liya to find Manager Wu. However, Manager Wu was not there.
"Where is Manager Wu?" Yan Jien asked Deng Kaiwen.
"She went back to her hometown," Deng Kaiwen replied.
"Why?" Yan Jien inquired, puzzled.
"Her mother had an incident," Deng Kaiwen said.
"What happened?" Yan Jien asked curiously.
"It seems she was attacked by a wild man," Deng Kaiwen stated.
"What?" Yan Jien was shocked.
"I heard it from Xiao Wang," Deng Kaiwen explained.
"Where is Xiao Wang from?" Yan Jien asked.
"He is from Hongting Town in Shamen County," Deng Kaiwen replied.
"Shamen County?" Yan Jien frowned. Shamen County is only 30 kilometers away from Nanquan City and is considered a suburb of Nanquan City.
"Did he say what the wild man looked like?" Yan Jien asked.
"He said he was covered in hair," Deng Kaiwen responded.
"It seems it really is a mutated creature," Yan Jien thought to himself.
"Brother Yan, do you think wild men really exist in this world?" Deng Kaiwen asked.
"There should be some, I guess," Yan Jien replied uncertainly.
"I think so too," Deng Kaiwen said. "Manager Wu's mother was attacked by a wild man."
"Did you see it with your own eyes?" Yan Jien questioned.
"Not exactly," Deng Kaiwen shook his head.
"Then why are you talking nonsense?" Yan Jien glared at him.
"I heard it from Xiao Wang too," Deng Kaiwen defended himself.
"Can you really trust what he says?" Yan Jien was speechless.
"But his uncle is a police officer in Shamen County," Deng Kaiwen pointed out.
"So we can trust the police now?" Yan Jien was even more speechless.
"At least it's more credible than us," Deng Kaiwen argued.
"..." Yan Jien found himself at a loss for words.
"Brother Yan, do you think Manager Wu will come back?" Deng Kaiwen changed the subject.
"Definitely." Yan Jien affirmed.
"How do you know?" Deng Kaiwen asked curiously.
"Just a guess," Yan Jien replied.
"Hmph." Deng Kaiwen was skeptical.
"Believe it or not," Yan Jien said, too lazy to explain.
"Brother Yan, where are you going?" Deng Kaiwen asked.
"I'm taking Liya out for a stroll," Yan Jien said.
"Oh." Deng Kaiwen responded and fell silent.
Yan Jien led Tong Liya downstairs.
On the way, they ran into Pan Dongcheng.
"Liya, let's go," Yan Jien said.
"Okay." Tong Liya nodded.
The two walked straight past Pan Dongcheng as if he didn't exist.
"Damn, this guy is too arrogant," Pan Dongcheng fumed.
...
"Liya, where do you want to go play?" Yan Jien asked.
"Anywhere," Tong Liya replied.
"Then let's go to Shamen County," Yan Jien suggested.
"What are we going there for?" Tong Liya asked in confusion.
"To look for wild people," Yan Jien said.
"Huh?" Tong Liya was bewildered.
"Since we have nothing else to do, we might as well treat it like a trip," Yan Jien laughed.
"Alright then," Tong Liya agreed.
