I stared at him in shock, completely unsure of how to respond.
Su Qian downed the drink in his hand and then looked at me, saying, "I'm not drunk, but I can't take you home today. Drunk driving is a serious matter, so Miss Qiu, please go back."
Was he drunk? How could he suddenly say something like that to me?

Just as I stepped out of his door, I heard the sound of a glass shattering inside.
I stood frozen at the entrance, hesitating between looking back and continuing on, before finally walking toward the main entrance.
After leaving Su Qian's house, I walked for a long time without seeing a single car and eventually ended up at the entrance of the house where I had previously lived with Xiao Minxing.
I couldn't help but peek inside. Although I couldn't see if anyone was home from the main entrance, the potted plants and greenery in the yard indicated that someone lived there. It seemed to be someone who loved plants because those plants, which I had never bothered to look at before, were now neatly trimmed.
I walked slowly past the main entrance and didn't call Mina until I was far away.
She asked me strangely, "Where did you go?"
I didn't tell her I had come to find Su Qian; I just said I was looking at the house where I used to live with Xiao Minxing. She paused for a long time before asking, "So what did you see?"
"I didn't see anything. From the entrance, I couldn't see anyone inside. I can't just knock on the door or barge in, right? What if the person living there gets upset?"
She immediately said, "You're right, don't just wander around someone else's house."
However, she didn't say she would come to pick me up; she only mentioned that she was too busy at the moment and told me to just call Xiao Minxing.
I had started to doubt that Mina was a real best friend. In the past, whenever I asked her for help, she would do it without hesitation. Now, she tries to avoid it, and when she can't, she tells me to find Xiao Minxing. It's really frustrating.
But what can I do? I didn't drive myself here, so who can I blame?
I hesitated between calling a ride-share and contacting Xiao Minxing, but in the end, I called him.
Xiao Minxing had indeed returned home and asked me where I was over the phone.
When he heard I was back at my old place, his tone was almost identical to Mina's as he calmly asked, "Where are you going?"
"I'm just taking a look. I realized that when we lived together before, I never really got to appreciate the scenery around here. Now that I have some free time, I thought I'd come by."
Xiao Minxing paused for a moment before he sighed and said, "If you like it there, we can buy the house back after some time."
"Huh? We can buy it back?" I asked him.
Xiao Minxing replied lightly, "If we have the money."
After that, he didn't say much more about it; he just asked for my exact location. His following words were similar to Mina's—telling me to find a place to rest while he came to pick me up.
By the time Xiao Minxing arrived, an hour had passed. Since I had eaten a lot of sweets in the morning, I wasn't very hungry and felt a bit drowsy sitting in the autumn sun in the afternoon.
Hearing the sound of a car, I hurriedly opened my eyes and saw Xiao Minxing coming out from inside, striding towards me.
He tilted his head and looked at me for a while before asking, "Are you really here to see the house?"
I had the words on the tip of my tongue, but suddenly remembered what Su Qian had said when I left home. I changed direction and softly said, "I'm here to find Su Qian. I want to ask what happened last night."
Xiao Minxing's expression immediately darkened. He frowned, and his gaze fell, remaining silent for a long time.
I explained, "If you all don't tell me, and I really want to know, I'm afraid this kind of thing will happen again. You might get hurt even more. What if something happens? What will happen to me and the child?"
Xiao Minxing asked with a gloomy face, "Did he tell you?"
I shook my head, feeling dissatisfied inside. "He said to ask you. He said that when there are issues between a couple, it's best to resolve them with each other and not involve innocent people."
This made Xiao Minxing silent for even longer, as if he had forgotten he was there to pick me up. He sat down beside me on the stone bench, his head slightly lowered.
After a long time, he said, "Actually, it's nothing serious. I can handle these things myself. I didn't want to involve you because I was afraid you'd worry. I didn't expect you to come and ask."
"You got hurt coming back; how can I not worry? If you told me, I could understand it better in my heart. It would actually be easier. If I know nothing, wouldn't that just make me more scared as I guess?"
Upon hearing this, Xiao Minxing finally nodded and turned to look at me, saying, "That makes sense. Let's go back; I'll slowly explain it to you."
The development of events is always hard to predict. I sat in the car and fell asleep within five minutes due to fatigue.
When I woke up, I didn't even know how I had gone from the car to my bed at home, and Xiao Minxing was already gone.
Sister Liu came over to tell me that after dropping me off, he went to work.
Seeing that it was still early, I had a little something to eat and then went to the study to draw. Perhaps because of Xiao Minxing's promise, I felt more at ease, without the previous tension and worry.

Thinking this way, I answered the call.
Jin Ke wasn't as sharp as she used to be; instead, she started by apologizing: "Sister An, I'm sorry. It was my immaturity in the past that caused you and President Xiao to misunderstand. I just had a crush on him because he looks good and has some money; I really didn't mean to break you two apart."
I am someone with a particularly hard heart. Since she took the initiative to admit her mistake and wasn't living with us anymore, I didn't take it too seriously and replied, "It's okay; don't think too much about it."
Unexpectedly, she suddenly burst into tears: "Sister An, before this incident with your family, I was always in demand at the Housekeeping Company. I actually knew that such companies often rate their staff. Complaints from employers and early terminations would lower their chances of being hired again in the future. At that time when Xiao Minxing acted like that, I wanted to stop him, but he was so angry that he could get sick. Even if I said something, he might not have given Jin Ke any face, so I kept quiet.
