"Dammit, I went through so much trouble for nothing, and it turns out to be this scrawny little thing!" The man cursed as he crawled out of the window, holding Tiger. 0

Xing Ruyi tried to step forward to stop him, but the man passed right through her, still clutching Tiger. She attempted to wake up Tiger's parents, but no matter how loudly she shouted, it seemed that only she could hear her own voice. 0

As the man gradually walked away, her initially calm mind began to panic. Xing Ruyi had no time to think further and could only chase after him. 0

In Luoyang City, after winding through many turns, the man finally stopped in front of a Ruined Temple. The characters on the temple door had become blurred, and inside the main hall, dust had accumulated, cobwebs were everywhere, and the incomplete statues revealed a hint of ferocity in the flickering lightning. The murals on the walls were faded and mottled from wind and snow, barely showing some images of kings. 0

Knowing that the man couldn't see her, Xing Ruyi stopped being cautious and followed him into the back hall. Compared to the main hall, the back hall was slightly cleaner, but there were no signs of anyone living there; instead, a nauseating smell filled the air. There were some dry dark brown stains on the walls, and by instinct, Xing Ruyi concluded that those stains were blood. 0

"Looking like this, there's definitely no way to sell you. Luckily I'm smart and have a backup plan; otherwise, this whole night would have been for nothing." The man's eyes grew increasingly sinister as he rubbed his hands together, his expression turning cruel. 0

Tiger woke up, groggily opening his eyes. At that moment, a flash of lightning struck, causing Tiger to scream and instinctively try to turn over to find Mother. But soon he realized he couldn't move. His slender arms and legs were bound with ropes. Then he saw the fierce-looking man; his frail shoulders trembled slightly as he kept mumbling, "Mommy, I want my mommy!" 0

"Good! Just hang in there a little longer; by morning, you can help me make money!" 0

The man gently brushed his hand across Tiger's face. Tiger instinctively recoiled but was met with a hard slap from the man. 0

In an instant, Tiger's face swelled up; he began to cry loudly while desperately calling for his Mother. 0

"Go ahead! Scream! In this godforsaken place, even if you scream your throat raw, no one will hear you." The man laughed as he rushed to the corner of the room and pulled out a polished butcher's knife from the dark shadows. The smell of blood grew stronger, with strands of black mist swirling around the blade. 0

That was a knife that had killed before; Xing Ruyi was certain of it because the resentment of livestock is different from that of humans. 0

What did that man intend to do? 0

Xing Ruyi looked at him in terror as he stepped closer to Tiger, who was tied to a makeshift wooden bed. For the first time in her life, she understood what it meant to feel powerless and what it meant to watch helplessly while being unable to do anything. 0

When the man raised the butcher's knife, Xing Ruyi let out a cry from her throat: "No!" Immediately after, she heard Tiger's painful wail, and a drop of warm blood splattered onto her face. 0

Her heart ached terribly as she clenched her fists. A stronger Eerie Aura surged from her palms, gradually enveloping her entire body. Her eyes turned crimson in the darkness. Anger accompanied another flash of lightning. The Ruined Temple trembled in fear, shaking off the tattered red cloth draped over the Buddha statue. 0

The man held the butcher's knife in one hand and pressed down on the bed with the other, grinning ominously at the still moaning Tiger: "Be good! Just endure a little longer; it won't hurt for long. Once you're not in pain anymore, you'll earn money for me. Soon, I'll be rich. Then I'll buy you meat buns made from human flesh; they'll be so delicious. After that, I'll take you to find your parents. How does that sound?" 0

Tiger slightly parted his pale lips, seemingly only able to inhale without exhaling. His originally frail legs had been brutally severed by the man, revealing stark white bones amidst the bloody mess. 0

Xing Ruyi collapsed helplessly to the ground, realizing that since arriving in this world, her once-proud abilities had not inflicted any harm on this man. The Buddha statue looked coldly at her, its damaged face seemingly wearing a mocking smile. 0

Pain spread within her heart, like a rope pulling at her fiercely. Xing Ruyi felt a daze wash over her, and when she looked again, she had returned to Zhuque Avenue. Around her was still desolate; moths fluttered around the lamp but had long since fallen silent. 0

A child squatted in a corner, crying softly. 0

After what had just happened, Xing Ruyi felt somewhat drained, as if half of her strength had been siphoned away. She moved laboriously toward the child and gently patted his shoulder. 0

"Whose child are you? Why are you out on the street at this late hour? Hurry back home; there are bad people out here; it's not safe!" 0

"Woohoo~~ I can't find my mother! Woohoo~~ Sister, have you seen my mother?" 0

"Your mother? What is your mother's name? Tell me, and I'll take you home, okay?" 0

The child nodded heavily and turned around to reveal a familiar face to Xing Ruyi. 0

He said: "Sister Ruyi, will you carry me home? Tiger doesn't have any legs anymore!" 0

“Tiger Cub?” Xing Ruyi exclaimed, her hands instinctively reaching out to embrace him, only to grasp at empty air. 0

Tiger stood in the shadows, a fierce expression on his face as he sneered, “Sister Ruyi, why didn’t you save me? Why didn’t you save me?” 0

“Tiger!” 0

Xing Ruyi struggled to speak; just as she uttered a single word, Tiger transformed into a mass of darkness that wrapped around her. 0

“Bang!” 0

The black smoke dissipated, and Tiger was gone, replaced by the concerned face of the fox. 0

“Yin Chensi.” Xing Ruyi called his name softly, tears beginning to fall in large drops. 0

“I know it wasn’t your fault.” The fox gently embraced her. “You’re tired; it’s time to go home and rest.” 0

“But, Tiger—” 0

“He’s dead. He died the night you saved Yin Yuan.” The fox couldn’t bear to see Xing Ruyi’s guilt and sorrow, so he revealed everything he knew: “Do you remember the night when A-Hsing brought Yin Yuan? You chased after A-Hsing, but encountered that person. At that moment, Tiger was hidden not far behind you. He saw you and thought you would notice him. But you were lost in A-Hsing’s grief and didn’t realize Tiger was there. He believed you intentionally left him to die. So, Fox Demon, he hates you, with the immature and willful mindset of a child.” 0
