In the Glass Room, the three children with yellowed skin tied to the iron beds had significantly reduced their bulging veins.
In another Glass Room, Sun Puyi, who had just completed an experiment, put down the measuring cup and test tube and excitedly pushed the door open. He said to Tao Gongjin, who was sitting on a lounge chair outside, "Chairman, the data Zhou Junsheng provided this time is correct!"
Hearing this, Tao Gongjin stood up excitedly. "Great! After binding him for so long, we finally got him to speak the truth!"
Beside them, Guo Zhuanghuai also felt thrilled.
Sun Puyi continued, "Chairman, I have a suggestion."
"!"
"Since Zhou Junsheng has told the truth, shouldn't we consider transferring him to the Laboratory?"
"I was thinking the same thing." Tao Gongjin then expressed his concerns, "But I'm a bit worried; there are too many valuable items here. What if he gets a craving in the studio?"
Sun Puyi replied, "We can build a separate cell for him in one corner of the studio."
Guo Zhuanghuai added, "Chairman, I think this plan is good. How about we transfer him tonight?"
Tao Gongjin thought carefully for a moment and said, "Let's wait until the cell is built before bringing him over!"
"Alright!" Guo Zhuanghuai then said, "Chairman, it's getting late; should I head back to the Cellar to rest now?"
Tao Gongjin responded, "Sure, you can go."
Guo Zhuanghuai walked towards the Laboratory door, unlatched it, opened the large iron door of the Laboratory, and stepped outside.
Instead of going downstairs, Guo Zhuanghuai turned into the staircase and continued climbing until he reached the top floor. He pushed open a door—beyond it was the rooftop of the building.
Guo Zhuanghuai stepped out, quickly closing the door behind him. He walked to the central position on the top floor, observing his surroundings to confirm that no one was following him before jumping to the nearby building and gradually moving away. Guo Zhiqian emerged from behind an obstacle on the rooftop and quickly followed after Guo Zhuanghuai, who was already far ahead.
Guo Zhuanghuai arrived at the cellar, where two thugs who were slacking off immediately stood up.
"Boss!"
"Boss!"
Guo Zhuanghuai asked, "Is everything okay inside?"
One thug replied, "It's fine, he's doing well. Just being stubborn again, hasn't eaten a single meal."
"Let him stay hungry; when he gets really hungry, we'll see if he eats."
After saying this, Guo Zhuanghuai opened the entrance to the cellar and walked in. Inside the cellar, he called out to Zhou Junsheng, "Old friend, we meet again!"
Soon after, Zhou Junsheng's whimpering sounds began to echo within the cellar.
Guo Zhiqian, who had been following Guo Zhuanghuai, watched from a distance. After confirming everything was in order, he hurriedly turned around and rushed towards the Cheng Sisters' home.
Three knocks sounded at the door of Cheng Shuhua's house. Cheng Yuyao approached the door and quietly asked, "Is that Guo Zhiqian?"
Outside, Guo Zhiqian quickly replied, "It's me!"
Cheng Yuyao promptly opened the door.
As soon as Guo Zhiqian entered, he exclaimed, "I found it! I found the place where Zhou Junsheng is being held!"
In the living room of Cheng Shuhua's house, the Cheng Sisters eagerly watched Guo Zhiqian. Cheng Shuhua walked out from the inner room, her expression calm, yet she could not hide the joy in her heart.
Guo Zhiqian said, "However, you need to be mentally prepared."
"What happened to him?" Cheng Yuwan asked with concern.
Guo Zhiqian replied, "He might have... developed a drug addiction."
The excitement of the Cheng Sisters vanished, replaced by worry. Cheng Shuhua remained composed.
"Regardless of what happens, we must rescue him first!" Cheng Shuhua declared.
"Mom is right! Let's go save Dad now!" Cheng Yuyao exclaimed.
However, Cheng Shuhua said, "You all go ahead; I won't be joining you."
"Why not?" Cheng Yuwan quickly asked.
"Zhou Junsheng and I are married. I'm afraid that if I see him, he will recognize our identities. It's not the right time for him to know who we are."
Guo Zhiqian said, "In that case, the three of us will go."
The Cheng Sisters looked at their mother, and Cheng Shuhua nodded in agreement.
In the cellar, Guo Zhuanghuai held a big pipe in his mouth and took a puff from it under the oil lamp, exhaling a cloud of white smoke onto Zhou Junsheng's fierce face. Zhou Junsheng was engulfed in the smoke.
Guo Zhuanghuai asked, "Want to try?"
Zhou Junsheng, with his mouth blocked, nodded desperately.
Guo Zhuanghuai said again, "If you want to smoke, write down what I want on a piece of paper. Once you're done, I'll let you take a puff. If you want to write it, I'll release your right hand."
Zhou Junsheng nodded vigorously and gestured for the other person to take the rag out of his mouth.
Guo Zhuanghuai placed Big Pipe on the table and said, "That's more like it! Now, I'll loosen your right hand!"
Feigning compassion, Guo Zhuanghuai untied Zhou Junsheng's right arm and pushed a pen, ink, and blank paper in front of him, saying, "Once you finish writing, you'll get to smoke Opium."
Zhou Junsheng nodded and, with trembling hands, grabbed the pen. Under Guo Zhuanghuai's watchful eye, he shakily wrote down important data for the Biological Experiment on the blank paper.
Outside the Cellar, two Thugs sat drowsily by the fire. Suddenly, there was a rustling sound, and one of the Thugs became alert.
"Who?"
The other Thug replied, "Who else could it be? It's probably just the sound of leaves blowing in the wind."
The startled Thug turned back around and continued to doze off with his rifle in hand. Behind them, Guo Zhiqian and the Cheng Sisters, dressed in dark clothing, swiftly approached them from behind and snapped their necks.
Guo Zhiqian whispered to the Cheng Sisters, "Zhou Junsheng is inside this Cellar."
Cheng Yuyao nodded and then reminded them, "We need to be careful."
Cheng Yuwan, anxious, opened the Cellar door first and jumped inside. Soon after, gunshots rang out from within the Cellar.
Cheng Yuyao glanced at Guo Zhiqian and hurriedly jumped into the Cellar. At that moment, Cheng Yuwan was already fighting Guo Zhuanghuai. Cheng Yuyao rushed over just as Guo Zhiqian also jumped down from above.
Seeing the Cheng Sisters attacking their father, Guo Zhiqian hesitated for a moment, gritted his teeth, and charged forward.
The Cheng Sisters were entangled with Guo Zhuanghuai using their short knives. Guo Zhiqian had ample opportunity to strike Guo Zhuanghuai, but his fist stopped just half an inch from Guo Zhuanghuai's head. When he switched to a palm strike aimed at Guo Zhuanghuai's chest, he again pulled back at the last moment.
Guo Zhiqian felt guilty and said, "No, I can't bring myself to do it!"
Guo Zhuanghuai immediately recognized his son's voice and scolded him, "A person as indecisive as you will never achieve great things!"
With that, Guo Zhuanghuai struck Guo Zhiqian, sending him flying several feet away, crashing heavily against the wall. He snatched the short knife from Cheng Yuwan's hand and lunged at Cheng Yuyao's shoulder. Cheng Yuyao quickly turned to evade. From that point on, the Cheng Sisters began to fall behind.
Cheng Yuyao shouted, "Hurry and save him!"
"Okay!"
Guo Zhiqian rushed to Zhou Junsheng's side and began to untie the ropes binding him. Zhou Junsheng was half in withdrawal from drugs and half in panic, struggling desperately.
Guo Zhuanghuai turned to stop Guo Zhiqian, but the Cheng Sisters pulled Guo Zhuanghuai back and continued to engage him. In a fit of anger, Guo Zhuanghuai thrust a knife toward Cheng Yuwan's heart. Cheng Yuwan dodged to the side, but the short knife still grazed her shoulder, tearing away half of her scarf without injuring her skin.
