"Formation" is a concept proposed by Hui. He believes that the biggest problem with talisman cultivation is its chaotic nature, lacking a systematic approach. Various runes are practiced haphazardly, which inevitably leads to problems.
The so-called "formation" means that when talisman practitioners cultivate, they should focus on the most important core runes, while the other runes should be selected to assist the core runes in maximizing their power.
Core runes and auxiliary runes complement each other, clearly distinguishing between primary and secondary roles, forming a complete and harmonious whole. This whole is known as a "formation," or talisman formation.
With this approach, talisman practitioners will no longer experience conflicts between runes during cultivation or combat, thus avoiding the absurdity of self-destruction.
Hui's idea of "formation" brings new hope to talisman practitioners. Under Hui's leadership, they begin to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the development of talisman formations.
At this time, Fuzong has become more stable after undergoing a baptism that nearly led to the sect's destruction. They no longer concern themselves with worldly matters and instead immerse themselves in the vast world of runes.
After more than ten years of research and development, the talisman practitioners successfully created several formations. For example, using "Explosion" as the core, they developed "Wind Explosion," "Water Explosion," "Fire Explosion," and others. They also created formations for other runes like "Shock," "Spin," and "Conceal."
Through their experiments, they discovered that the power of these formations was astonishing, exceeding their expectations.
This excited the talisman practitioners, confirming that their ideas were correct. However, this time they chose not to make a fuss about it but continued their research quietly.
After all, although formations had been created, another critical weakness of talisman practitioners had yet to be resolved.
The physical weakness of talisman practitioners and their lack of combat awareness and reflexes put them at a significant disadvantage against cultivators from other systems.
In response to this issue, Hui proposed three realms for talisman practitioners: the Outer Talisman Realm, the Inner Talisman Realm, and the Divine Talisman Realm.
The Outer Talisman Realm refers to the stage where a practitioner begins cultivating their first core rune until they successfully form a complete talisman formation.
At this stage, a Talisman Master can only utilize single or multiple runes, and their ability to unleash the power of the runes is limited. They have yet to comprehend the intricate interplay between the runes that complements each other.
At this point, the Talisman Master has not truly stepped through the door into the world of runes; they are still outside, which results in insufficient combat power.
The Inner Talisman Realm signifies that the Talisman Master has already mastered talisman formations and has gained their own insights into the profound connections between the runes. Their application of these formations becomes seamless, allowing them to unleash the power of talisman formations with just a thought, which is indeed formidable.
At this stage, the Talisman Master has genuinely crossed into the realm of runes and is even qualified to develop their own exclusive talisman formations that best suit them.
Of course, even within the same Inner Talisman Realm, there can be significant differences in strength. After all, the number of talisman formations mastered and how well they are coordinated will affect a Talisman Master's power.
The distinction between external and internal talismans lies in whether one has successfully formed talisman formations or not.
According to the introduction in the jade pendant, once a Talisman Master steps into the Inner Talisman Realm, they will no longer be troubled by slow physical reactions. Once a talisman formation is established, it provides both offense and defense; with a single thought, they can unleash an incredibly powerful attack. A strong Talisman Master in the Inner Talisman Realm can face martial arts masters without fear.
Later on, some talented disciples even developed talisman formations specifically designed to enhance physical abilities, further compensating for this shortcoming.
As for the Divine Talisman Realm, Lufan did not find specific details about it in the jade pendant; it simply stated: "Once divine talismans are formed, even masters are hard to contend with."
Although Talisman Masters have traveled far along the Runic Path and possess great power, they still tend to live in seclusion in deep mountains and do not easily step into the mundane world.
After experiencing a lesson, they have come to understand that drawing too much attention is not a good thing as it easily invites jealousy. Reflecting on it later, one might think that the decline of Fuzong was likely influenced by other sects; otherwise, how could such a large sect collapse so easily?
A mature sect should understand patience; everything is still just beginning.
No one knows that Fuzong has quietly been reborn and is now much stronger than before. The world has forgotten them; only certain texts contain some references to them, often expressed in a mocking tone.
Until later, when a shocking event occurred, people suddenly realized that a super Sect had quietly emerged in the world.
More than five hundred years ago, there was an elder from Fuzong who had entered the Inner Talisman realm for many years. To complete a talisman formation he envisioned, he decided to follow the example of his ancestor "Talisman" and travel the world in search of inspiration from nature and all things.
Eventually, he arrived at a small mountain village and witnessed three martial masters from the Demon Sect's Blood Demon Sect planning to slaughter the entire village for their momentary pleasure.
Furious, this elder from Fuzong took action and used the talisman formation "Shocking the Universe" to instantly kill the three martial masters from the Demon Sect, leaving no trace behind.
Afterward, the Demon Sect was enraged. While investigating the incident, they dispatched over ten martial masters to hunt down this elder.
However, to everyone's astonishment, none of the martial masters sent by the Demon Sect were a match for this elder, resulting in heavy casualties on their side.
It wasn't until a master from the Demon Sect could no longer hold back that this elder was forced to flee. By then, news of the incident had spread throughout the world. Just as the master intended to pursue and kill him, Fuzong's leader "Hui" arrived.
Having reached the Divine Talisman Realm, Hui used extraordinary methods to severely injure the master. If it weren't for the timely arrival of the Demon Sect Master, he might have lost his life.
Subsequently, Hui fought to a standstill with the Demon Sect Master, causing a sensation across the world.
This battle completely announced Fuzong's return, reigniting a fervor for talismans as countless people sought to join Fuzong once again.
However, this time, Fuzong chose to retreat into obscurity once more. Regardless of how earnestly others pleaded to enter their gates, it became exceedingly difficult to gain access.
Fuzong understood that mystery breeds respect; their previous approach of being overly accommodating had proven foolish. Generosity often attracted only ungrateful wolves.
Although Fuzong had hidden away again, everyone knew that Fuzong was no longer what it once was. It had become mysterious and powerful; whenever a disciple emerged to walk among the world, it would cause a stir and draw widespread attention.
The Fuzong has maintained its mysterious presence throughout the ages.
When Lufan finished reading the records within the jade pendant, he felt a profound shock from the pioneering spirit of the "symbols," the exploratory spirit of the pioneers, and the astonishing wisdom of "wisdom."
He sensed that these were pure individuals whose dedicated exploration of the Runic Path was admirable. This reminded Lufan of another group of similar people on Earth, those masters known as scientists, who were also great pioneers.
One could say that these symbol cultivators are akin to scientists from another world. Their applications and transformations of runes bear a striking resemblance to certain research theories on Earth; the difference lies in the distinct expressions of two different worlds.
Although Lufan understood that, according to the introduction in the jade pendant, symbol cultivation was not suitable for him, he was not disappointed.
The mere introduction to various runes and formations was enough to open his eyes. After all, everything has its connections, and understanding a different cultivation system can provide countless inspirations. The explanations regarding the essence of cultivation are particularly valuable for reference.
This will become an extremely precious asset on his martial arts journey, significantly deepening his martial foundation and laying a solid groundwork for him to reach higher realms in martial arts.
For instance, the introduction to formations provided Lufan with endless imagination. The idea of a core rune commanding numerous auxiliary runes to ultimately unleash tremendous power greatly inspired him.
He thought about his own situation; the multitude of martial skills in his mind was akin to a chaotic array of runes.
For a long time, Lufan had been troubled, unsure how to plan his martial path. After all, there were too many Divine Skills in his mind, which sometimes left him at a loss for choice.
Now, the concept of formations seemed to have sparked some inspiration within him.
