The heavyset man suddenly stopped, gripping the short knife in his hand reflexively.
"What’s wrong?" Pifu asked softly, his voice tinged with a barely noticeable tremor.
The heavyset man did not respond; he was fully focused on the front, his ears twitching slightly as if trying to catch some sound.
"Rustle, rustle, rustle..."
The faint sound came again, particularly clear in the stillness of the jungle.
"There!" the heavyset man hissed and charged toward the direction of the sound.
Seeing this, Pifu hurriedly followed.
However, Hel's figure had vanished.
" Instructor Hel?" Pifu called out in a low voice, but all he received in return was endless silence.
"Stop calling out; Instructor Hel probably intends for us to act alone," the heavyset man said without turning his head, his gaze fixed ahead, his pace unwavering.
Upon hearing this, Pifu felt even more uneasy, but he knew this was not the time to be afraid; he had to keep up with the heavyset man, or the consequences would be dire.
The two ran wildly and soon arrived at a clearing.
In the clearing, a massive wild boar was rooting through the ground with its sharp tusks, emitting a furious grunt.
Next to the wild boar lay several human corpses, likely the remains of adventurers who had stumbled into this place.
The boar seemed to sense the arrival of the Fat Man and Pifu; it suddenly raised its head, its blood-red eyes fixed intently on the two, letting out a deafening roar.
"Prepare for battle!" the Fat Man shouted, his short knife glinting in the air.
The Fat Man and Pifu exchanged a glance, both seeing seriousness and determination in each other's eyes. They knew this was a life-and-death test; only by giving their all could they defeat the formidable foe before them.
Pifu took a deep breath and quietly said to the Fat Man, "Be careful, Fat Man; this wild boar looks tough to handle." His gaze remained locked on the boar, and his staff trembled slightly in his hands, clearly indicating his nervousness.
The Fat Man patted Pifu on the shoulder, grinning widely to reveal his white teeth as he confidently replied, "Don't worry, Pifu; I'm going to be a strong warrior. A mere wild boar won't be able to defeat me!" Though his tone was lighthearted, there was a resolute gleam in his eyes.
Determined to seize this opportunity to prove himself, the Fat Man resolved to take down the wild boar alone and surprise Pifu and Hel.
He took a deep breath, recalling the combat techniques taught by Hel, preparing to face this fierce beast.
Pifu's face turned pale at the sight before him, but he decided to trust the Fat Man and attempted to support him with magic.
The Fat Man tightened his grip on the knife, exerted force with his legs, and shot toward the wild boar like an arrow released from a bow.
The wild boar seemed to sense the threat, letting out a thunderous roar as it charged at the Fat Man with its hooves pounding against the ground.
The fat man did not dodge or evade. Just as the wild boar was about to collide with him, he nimbly sidestepped to the side, narrowly avoiding the boar's attack.
Due to its momentum, the massive body of the wild boar rolled on the ground a few times before coming to a stop. The fat man seized this opportunity; as the boar was getting back up, he thrust his short knife forward like lightning, striking precisely at the boar's vital spot.
The wild boar let out a piercing scream and then collapsed heavily to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
The fat man couldn't help but laugh.
