Lin Feng faced the situation with a sense of determination, while He Ting, though showing little on her face, felt a slight recognition of Lin Feng's actions at that moment. She recalled how Lin Feng had once fought fiercely for his sister and thought that he wasn't so bad after all.
"What’s going on?" Lin Feng turned to the girl who had been standing aside and asked.
He felt a bit reckless for intervening without understanding the situation fully. He wondered if he might be manipulated by this seemingly innocent girl.
"I don’t know either. My mom is sick and in the hospital, so I went home to get some essentials. As soon as I stepped out, I ran into them. I tried to escape, but they caught me here. Luckily, I met this sister," the girl said, her face full of distress as she recounted her story.
Lin Feng glanced at He Ting, who was listening to the girl. He knew that as a police officer, she had more experience dealing with such matters.
"You don’t have to be afraid; nothing will happen to you. I’m here," He Ting reassured her. It seemed that she had already put that group of thugs on her blacklist and believed the girl was indeed a victim.
There was no way around it; that group of thugs was particularly detestable, leaving a very poor impression—almost none at all.
It appeared that this matter was not going to be straightforward. Lin Feng sensed that this issue could not simply be resolved with brute force.
From their behavior, it seemed they were involved in loan sharking.
While loan sharks were certainly loathed, they typically only threatened those who had borrowed money from them in the first place.
That was the rule; if they dared to randomly accuse someone of owing money without any basis, their actions would cross into robbery.
Loan sharking and robbery were different crimes with vastly different implications.
Thus, Lin Feng figured that these thugs must have some reason to believe this girl owed them money.
"You..." Lin Feng wanted to say something to the girl but hesitated on how to address her. It felt inappropriate to call her "sister" since they had just met, even though she appeared a few years younger than him.
"My name is Chen Xiaona. Thank you for what you did earlier, you can just call me Xiao Na," the girl introduced herself, having understood Lin Feng's dilemma.
Xiao Na sounded like a nickname, differing from her full name by just one character but carrying a more affectionate tone.
“Xiao Na, my name is Lin Feng, and this impressive sister here is He Ting,” Lin Feng introduced himself and also introduced He Ting.
It seemed that Lin Feng and Xiao Na were already acquainted.
“Hey... Lin Feng, stop rambling and get to the point,” He Ting said, noticing the increasingly close gangsters while adopting a defensive stance.
The police really do have a high sense of vigilance.
Besides, how could I be rambling? Getting to know each other's names is beneficial for communication. Lin Feng dismissed the few small-time thugs; if he could take them down once, he could do it again. Therefore, he didn’t pay much attention to He Ting’s words.
“By the way, Xiao Na, you might not know about the debt situation, but your mother should be aware, right?” Lin Feng asked, realizing He Ting was getting impatient. Although he didn’t care much about her attitude, he still needed to clarify the situation.
“I haven’t heard my mom mention anything,” Xiao Na replied, sounding quite confused.
“Where is your mother now? Which hospital?” Lin Feng directly asked since Xiao Na had mentioned earlier that her mother was in the hospital.
At this point, perhaps only her mother would know about the loan shark situation.
“Um... she’s at B City First People's Hospital!” Xiao Na hesitated at first when Lin Feng asked but eventually answered out of trust.
Seeing Xiao Na like that, Lin Feng felt that the girl wasn’t as confused as she seemed; at least she knew not to casually reveal which hospital her mother was in.
He smiled encouragingly at her and then turned his attention back to the approaching gangsters.
In reality, if the gangsters dared to rush over, they wouldn’t allow Lin Feng and Xiao Na to finish their conversation. The main reason they were hesitant was that they were scared of being beaten by Lin Feng; otherwise, they would have fled long ago. If it weren’t for their boss insisting they collect this debt, they would have already run away.
So they chose to approach slowly as a way of trying their best.
This way, when their boss asked them about it later, they could say they tried but their opponent was too strong.
Having been in this kind of environment for a long time, it was only natural for them to be cautious.
"Hey... who is in charge here?" Since He Ting had not mentioned that she was a police officer, Lin Feng assumed she didn't want to reveal her identity, so he stepped forward to confront the group of thugs.
Moreover, as the only man on this side, Lin Feng felt it was his duty to take the lead. He couldn't let two women handle this while he shrank back, could he?

"How do you know my name? Damn it... you're messing with me!" Green Hair initially didn't catch on, but once he did, he became extremely angry and charged at Lin Feng without hesitation.
Green Hair hated being called that, especially by someone like Lin Feng who pretended to be clueless. In his heated state, he forgot about Lin Feng's earlier actions.
Lin Feng had been waiting for him; as soon as Green Hair rushed over, it played right into Lin Feng's hands. Without even moving, Green Hair found himself kneeling on the ground.
With his skills, unless he had a bomb strapped to him, no matter how hard he tried, this would always be the outcome.
"You’re coming with me. The rest of you go back and tell your boss that we’ll be at the First People's Hospital of B City. Otherwise, Green Hair won't be safe," Lin Feng said, stepping on Green Hair while addressing the other thugs who wanted to act but were too scared to do so.
Having dealt with the Wolf Gang before, Lin Feng knew that with thugs like these, you had to be tough; otherwise, they would cling to you like a stubborn adhesive.
Lin Feng didn't want them hanging around forever, so he had no choice but to be harsh. Besides, he felt no sympathy for someone like Green Hair; being tough on him didn’t weigh on his conscience at all.
As for which ward Xiao Na's mother was in at the First Hospital, Lin Feng had no idea. Even if he did know, he wouldn't bother telling them. If they were here to collect a debt, they would have to put in some effort themselves.
"Xiao Na, He Ting, let's go. To the hospital." Without waiting for the thugs' response—and not intending to give them a chance—Lin Feng was merely informing them; it wasn't up for discussion.
He grabbed Green Hair and prepared to shove him into the back seat of his BMW. However, upon seeing the exquisite seats, he hesitated. What a nice seat! Lin Feng never expected that his first passenger in such a prestigious BMW would be a thug—what a waste!
But there was no choice; Lin Feng certainly couldn't throw him into the trunk.
"Right, how did I not think of the trunk?" Lin Feng slapped his forehead and quickly stopped himself from shoving Green Hair into the back seat, instead pushing him into the trunk.
After closing the trunk, Lin Feng finally felt a bit more balanced. Someone like him deserved to be in the trunk; after all, what kind of man bullies a girl?
If it were someone like Xiao Na, he wouldn't have anything to say if she were bullied like He Ting. He would just admit defeat.
"Alright, let's go." Just as Lin Feng was about to drive away, he noticed that He Ting was already in the driver's seat.
"Hey... He Ting, I can drive." Lin Feng knocked on the car window and said to He Ting.
He Ting shrugged at Lin Feng outside the window, indicating she couldn't hear him, her face filled with a sense of vindictive pleasure.
What instant karma! Lin Feng could only sigh helplessly as he walked to the back seat, opened the door, and finally sat inside the car.
"Hey, you can't do this! What gives you the right to drive?" As soon as he got in the car, Lin Feng questioned He Ting, completely forgetting that he had just driven her beloved car off a cliff.
"What? Let me tell you, Lin Feng, you drove my car off a cliff. So what's wrong with me driving yours? I'm going to drive it, and until you find me an identical brand-new car to replace it, this one is mine. Considering it's a BMW, I'll reluctantly accept it." He Ting responded defiantly as she started the engine.
After hearing He Ting's words, Lin Feng really didn't know how to respond.
Although she was being quite domineering, Lin Feng knew he was in the wrong and could only silently admit defeat. After all, he had driven her beloved car off a cliff.
"Lin Feng Gege, why don't you sit here? I'll sit in the back." Xiao Na saw that Lin Feng and He Ting were arguing and quickly suggested.
Before Lin Feng could respond to Xiao Na's suggestion, He Ting raised an eyebrow, slammed on the brakes, turned around to glare at Lin Feng with a clear message: Do you dare?
Lin Feng was momentarily confused by this sudden braking. Fortunately, Xiao Na and the others had their seatbelts on, and Lin Feng managed to brace himself against the front seat just in time.
"Ah..." While Lin Feng and the others were fine, Green Hair lying in the trunk was having a rough time and was howling in pain.
"It's fine; someone like He Ting is no problem for me. I can handle her with one hand. We always do this; I just let her win sometimes; you get used to it." No matter how unbalanced he felt inside, Lin Feng wouldn't sit in Xiao Na's seat. However, he was still quite happy to throw a few jabs at He Ting.
As for the person in the trunk, Lin Feng and He Ting completely ignored him, summarizing his situation in one word: deserved!
Well... it was actually two words.
Finally, after giving Lin Feng a glare, He Ting turned back to prepare to drive. As for what that glare meant, Lin Feng didn't understand, but he knew it definitely had something to do with the hurtful things he had said earlier.
Alright, Lin Feng had to admit that He Ting's driving skills were quite good. She drove smoothly all the way, and although they couldn't help but exchange a few jabs at each other, they eventually arrived at the hospital.
Throughout the journey, Xiao Na had already become accustomed to the banter between He Ting and Lin Feng. As Lin Feng put it, you just get used to it.
The three of them—no, including the person in the trunk, Green Hair—finally arrived at the hospital lobby. Just as they were about to get on the elevator, someone tapped Lin Feng on the back.
Turning around, Lin Feng saw a familiar beautiful face.
After a moment of surprise, Lin Feng looked at her smiling face and slapped his forehead. How could he forget that Meng Li also worked here!
The one who had tapped Lin Feng's back was none other than Meng Li, the first female friend he made since his rebirth—the beautiful doctor who treated him so well.
