"What's wrong?" Lin Feng saw the expressions on the faces of the Fatty and the Second Brother, feeling quite helpless. These two had a pretty solid relationship, so why were they arguing as soon as they met?
"Third Brother, we are discussing the location of this shop. There used to be a food business in our School that has closed down due to poor sales, and now it's up for rent with a 'Prime Shop for Rent' sign. I think it's a good option, but Fatty insists we should rent a shop in Xinxin Building, claiming it will become a bustling area in the future with lots of foot traffic," the Second Brother explained, sharing his perspective and the reason for their argument with Lin Feng.
"Oh, Fatty, how do you know Xinxin Building will become a bustling area?" As the Second Brother spoke, Lin Feng recalled that a large building had indeed been constructed next to their School. It was only three stories tall, but he was curious about how Fatty knew that Xinxin Building would develop into a busy area.
"Exactly! How can you be so sure? What if they don't develop it?" The Second Brother couldn't help but chime in since Lin Feng's thoughts aligned closely with his own.
"How would I know? It's insider information! Let me tell you, if we rent a shop on the second floor now, once it’s confirmed that they will open up the area, we could save at least half on rent. Even if we don't run a business ourselves later, we could sublet it and still make some income," Fatty said proudly.
Isn't Fatty considered an active participant at School? Active participants tend to know more people. There are Directors of the Practice Department and various officers in the Student Council. Coincidentally, during one Student Council meeting, Fatty hit it off with a guy whose family was quite influential. After a couple of drinks, this guy revealed that his family was preparing to take over the soon-to-be-completed Xinxin Building to open a Department Plaza.
With this clever thought in mind, Fatty discreetly treated him to several meals. Eventually, his efforts paid off when he secured a promise from this guy that once the building was completed, he would get a shop at the lowest price. Thus, Fatty immediately suggested to Lin Feng and the others to consider setting up their shop there.
After all, if they could really secure a spot in the city—especially in a bustling area—the foot traffic would be significant. As long as they sold decent products, business would likely be good.
Hearing Fatty's words, Lin Feng found them quite reasonable. If Fatty could indeed secure such a shop space, it would be quite advantageous.
"What does the Boss think?" Lin Feng had formed his own opinion and decided to ask the Boss for input.
"I think it's okay; my only concern is whether such a good opportunity will actually come our way," the Boss replied cautiously.
"It probably wouldn’t have happened otherwise, but I've invested several meals into this relationship. Plus, I think that guy seems trustworthy; he shouldn't be lying to me," Fatty said confidently about his judgment.
"Second Brother, do you think it's not feasible?" Lin Feng asked again since the Second Brother had been strongly opposed earlier.
"I agree with the boss. If we can get it, we'll make a profit. The Fatty is also the biggest contributor, but I'm just afraid such a good opportunity won't come our way." Hearing the boss say this resonated deeply with the second-in-command, who quickly expressed his thoughts.
"It won't happen. I trust my judgment, Madman. What do you think?" The Fatty was full of confidence in his insight and looked at Lin Feng with eager anticipation.
These days, big students can't help but feel accomplished when they get involved in a bit of business, which is quite normal, and Lin Feng could understand that.
"Then let's proceed like this. Fatty, get in touch again, and then the boss and the second-in-command can help oversee things, alright?" Lin Feng thought that since the Fatty was so confident, he might as well let him take a shot at it; it's good for young people to have ambition.
"Yes, Madman understands. How can we be afraid in business? If that's the case, we might as well just hold on to our jobs." The Fatty felt incredibly pleased inside when Lin Feng showed his support.
"Alright, let's leave it at that. It's about time; let's go out to eat together." Seeing that everything had been settled, Lin Feng felt there was no need to discuss it further and suggested going out for a meal.
"Madman, you can't be serious!" The Fatty was surprised when Lin Feng quickly brought up going to Renhe Grand Hotel.
Originally, the Fatty and the boss had planned not to mention this matter at all and just find a place to grab a casual lunch. That way, they wouldn't put Lin Feng in an awkward position. But now that they didn't bring it up, Lin Feng mentioned it himself.
"Stop talking nonsense. Change your clothes; we're going together. I'm specifically pushing back a date with a beautiful girl for this!" Although Lin Feng felt touched, he knew that if they continued to dawdle, they might never get to eat this meal. So he urged them on.
Since Lin Feng said so, the Fatty and the others stopped being pretentious. After all, they had brought money with them, and Lin Feng also mentioned that he would explain the reason at the dinner table.
When it came to changing clothes for dinner, this group all had their own set of outfits. After all, they were going to a restaurant; they needed to look presentable.
Soon enough, they finished getting ready. The Fatty looked pretty much the same regardless of whether he changed clothes or not; he wasn't particularly good-looking. As for the boss, he was naturally a calm type of man and looked much like usual. The second-in-command, however, looked quite decent in formal attire—of course, just slightly better than the Fatty.
Of course, Lin Feng knew that if the Fatty weren't so overweight, he might actually be on par with the second-in-command.
They changed clothes and styled themselves. Lin Feng was more casual; he could just wear what he had on. In fact, whether it was going to a restaurant for a meal or meeting Song Qi tonight, Lin Feng planned to wear the same outfit.
This was related to Lin Feng's personality. Besides, his inner confidence no longer needed these clothes to enhance it. He was fairly good-looking and capable, so he really couldn't find a reason to put on makeup or dress up.
During their meal, Lin Feng made a call to Li Zhong to ask about Dong Jie’s situation. He also asked Li Zhong to look into the specifics of Xinxin Building. Although they had been seeking opinions from them, Lin Feng thought it would be better to use Li Zhong's network to find out what the owner of Xinxin Building meant.
Of course, with Li Zhong's connections, the information he gathered would be far more reliable than the so-called "insider information" that the chubby guy got from a few meals. The news Li Zhong found out would definitely be accurate.
After all, when it came to certain matters, Wolf Gang was quite adept at gathering information.
"Well, Sister Dong is doing fine, and that girl has been sent over. As for Xinxin Building, I have some connections with the owner. I'll go inquire for Feng Shao now," Li Zhong reported briefly over the phone.
"Good, as long as Jie Jie is okay. Alright, you go ahead and get busy. Let me know if you have any news," Lin Feng said, feeling relieved that Dong Jie was fine.
After hanging up the phone, Lin Feng and his three roommates left the school and took a car straight to Renhe Grand Hotel.
It was peak time at Renhe Grand Hotel; it was relatively lively but not so crowded that there were no available seats.
"Welcome! How many guests do you have?" The receptionist at the entrance slightly bowed to Lin Feng and his friends, one of them sweetly asking.
"We need a private room; please arrange that for us," Lin Feng replied to the receptionist without stating the number of people.
"Well, alright, please follow me." Upon hearing Lin Feng request a private room, the Receptionist smiled even sweeter and led the way.
"Madman, are you crazy? There are just a few of us, and we don't have anything private to discuss. Why do we need a private room?" The three roommates nearby hesitated to interrupt Lin Feng directly but waited until he finished speaking before quietly voicing their concerns.
"Hehe... just trust me, I know what I'm doing. You just focus on enjoying the meal," Lin Feng replied with a smile, not offering any further explanation.
The first and second roommates also felt that Lin Feng was being extravagant. They understood that dining in a private room was merely for show; the dishes would still be the same, just at a higher cost. However, since the chubby guy had already made the decision, they chose not to voice their opinions.
After sitting down and ordering food, Lin Feng and his friends waited in the private room for their dishes to arrive. The Receptionist took their order and left. She was thrilled to encounter such a generous customer like Lin Feng today. By ordering the restaurant's specialty dishes, her commission from serving him alone was already equivalent to what she usually earned in several days. How could she not be happy?
"Alright, I know you all have questions in your minds, so let me explain," Lin Feng said as he poured each person a cup of tea.
"I haven't been at school much these past few days because I've been working on a project. I can't disclose the specifics due to company confidentiality, but you can understand it as being related to some computer business. And I assure you that all the money I'm making is legal, so there's no need for concern," Lin Feng explained. Although he intended to clarify things, he still spoke vaguely and used "business secret" as an excuse for the details he hadn't thought through, which also put his friends at ease.
"Well, I've made some money, and my first thought was of you guys. You all know my family's situation; it was you who helped me out before. Now that I can earn some money, I wanted to treat you all to a nice meal and share my happiness with you," Lin Feng said as he pulled out a stack of cash from his pocket—exactly ten thousand yuan. When he mentioned how his friends had supported him in the past, he suddenly felt quite fortunate to have such a group of brothers.
Among their dormitory group, Lin Feng's family was the least well-off, so he had received considerable help from them.
Because of this support, when Lin Feng heard that they wanted to start a small business together, his thoughts shifted. He decided that this time when they embarked on their entrepreneurial journey, he would accompany them through it all. If they succeeded, it would be their victory; if they failed, it would be his loss. This was also a way for him to repay them.
