"Is there anything else?" Lin Feng turned his head and asked.
"I'm writing an IOU, just wait a moment." Seeing Lin Feng stop, Consort Zhang quickly took out paper and a pen from her bag and started writing.
"Oh." Lin Feng curiously watched Consort Zhang, not refusing. He wanted to see what this interesting and strong girl would do next.
"Here, it's done. Take a look, and if there are no issues, please sign your name." Before long, Lin Feng didn't even wait for two minutes, and Consort Zhang had already finished writing.
"So fast?" Lin Feng was somewhat surprised. Although he had heard her mention that she was studying accounting and was in her second year, he thought that even someone who dealt with IOUs regularly shouldn't write one so quickly. After all, it was one hundred fifty thousand; Lin Feng might not care, but Consort Zhang shouldn't be so careless.
"I had prepared for this beforehand. Although I knew the chances of meeting someone like you were slim, I still held onto a glimmer of hope. I didn't expect to actually encounter it. So, I just changed the original amount from one hundred thousand to one hundred fifty thousand and wrote it out for you." Consort Zhang answered Lin Feng's doubts.
"Hehe... that's quite thoughtful of you." Lin Feng glanced over briefly, then took the pen from Consort Zhang's hand and quickly wrote down his name.
Seeing Lin Feng sign his name, Consort Zhang finally relaxed and patted her chest.
Putting the IOU away, Lin Feng might not care about the one hundred fifty thousand, but he knew that this IOU was key to reassuring Consort Zhang, so he accepted it.
After carefully placing the money into her bag, Consort Zhang prepared to leave.
"By the way, I just realized that I seem to have forgotten something." Lin Feng suddenly slapped his forehead and said.
"What is it?" Consort Zhang turned back, ready to leave but paused to ask.
"Since you're borrowing money, why didn't you write down the interest?" Lin Feng said seriously.
"Well, that's not possible. The IOU has already been signed; it can't be changed." Consort Zhang's eyes twinkled as if she understood something. She smiled playfully and replied.
She naturally knew that someone like Lin Feng, who could casually throw down a hundred thousand dollars and walk away, wouldn’t care about those so-called interests; at this moment, it was more of a joke.
"Isn't this better? A girl like you shouldn't always have a frown on her face. Well, I guess this counts as me throwing money around. You can consider this smile as the interest I bought from you," Lin Feng said, feeling a sudden urge to tease Consort Zhang.
"Oh, thank you. I'm leaving now," Consort Zhang replied, no longer playful, and bowed seriously to Lin Feng.
"Alright, go ahead. I won't see you off," Lin Feng said simply, wanting to keep Consort Zhang around without any ulterior motives; he just wanted to understand her better. However, in the end, he didn’t voice his thoughts and instead waved his hand.
At that moment, a sudden thunderclap echoed from the sky, and soon heavy rain poured down. Lin Feng could hear the sound of the rain pounding against the window.
"Heh... stay here then. If you're worried, I can book another room," Lin Feng said unexpectedly grateful to the heavens.
"Well, okay. You take the bed, and I'll take the couch," Consort Zhang replied.
"Heh... fine, I’ll go take a shower," Lin Feng didn’t insist on letting her sleep on the couch because he knew that with a girl like Consort Zhang, she would only feel secure if she took the couch.
"Mm." Consort Zhang nodded in agreement.
When Lin Feng finished his shower and came out, he found Consort Zhang already reading. This girl was truly a model student; her attitude towards studying was many times more serious than Lin Feng's.
Of course, Lin Feng's learning efficiency was something no one could envy.
Considering Consort Zhang's delicate and sensitive nature, Lin Feng chose not to wear a bathrobe but put on his own clothes instead.
Consort Zhang clearly noticed Lin Feng's return and saw that he was still in his original clothes; her expression softened a bit.
But she didn’t say anything and continued reading.
Lin Feng understood that while Consort Zhang appreciated him, she didn’t want any deeper interaction with him. In fact, he could be certain that although she held a book in her hands, her mind was far from focused on it; the book was merely a prop for disguise at this moment.
No matter how much time they tried to save, it shouldn't be like this. Moreover, she couldn't calm down to study at all.
"Are you scared?" Lin Feng asked.
"Not scared," Consort Zhang replied.
"I'm going to sleep now. Are you still planning to continue studying?" Lin Feng asked with a smile. After all this time, it was already quite late.
"I won't disturb you; I'll sleep too." Seeing Lin Feng say this, Consort Zhang naturally didn't insist on studying any longer.
"Okay, turn off the light," Lin Feng said. He really preferred to sleep with the lights off.
"Oh," Consort Zhang replied and then went to turn off the light.
"You're going to sleep with the lights off? Aren't you worried about anything?" Lin Feng asked when he saw Consort Zhang turn off the light.
"If I were worried, I wouldn't have come home in the rain just now," Consort Zhang said.
"I believe you." After thinking for a moment, Consort Zhang continued.
"What a big hat to wear; let's sleep," Lin Feng remarked and then lay down.
"Hehe... good night!" Seeing Lin Feng lie down, Consort Zhang also curled up on the couch in her clothes.
But just as she lay down, Lin Feng got up again. Although it was dark at that moment, there was still some light coming in from outside the window, so Consort Zhang could naturally see Lin Feng getting up and walking toward her.
At that moment, Consort Zhang reflexively sat up.
"What’s wrong? Didn't you just say you trust me?" Lin Feng asked without lowering his footsteps. He wasn't surprised by Consort Zhang's reaction and countered her question.
"But I..." Consort Zhang wanted to say something, but she knew that explaining at this moment would only be a cover-up.
"Hehe... It's cold at night, so cover yourself with this." Without waiting for Consort Zhang to finish, Lin Feng draped a blanket over her and then walked away.
Feeling the warmth of the blanket, Consort Zhang felt a warmth in her heart.
Lin Feng really fell asleep this time. When he woke up in the morning, he found a breakfast left on his bedside. There was also a sticky note on top:
"I bought this breakfast. If it suits your taste, go ahead and eat it. Thank you, I will pay you back."
Below were the words "Consort Zhang." Looking at the sticky note, Lin Feng smiled and finished the breakfast.
Lin Feng was not picky about food; whether it was simple meals or lavish feasts, he could enjoy them all.
As Lin Feng was about to leave the room, he casually put the sticky note left by Consort Zhang into his magic ring. There was no particular reason; Lin Feng simply wanted to keep it.
At that moment, Lin Feng's phone rang. He looked at it and saw that it was a call from He Ting.
Remembering that he hadn't seen this policewoman in quite some time, Lin Feng answered the call.
