"Uh, I understand now, heh heh... I spoke out of turn." As the saying goes, a clear official finds it hard to resolve family matters; Lin Feng felt that it was not appropriate for him to inquire about Su Rong's family affairs.
"Wu Liang is just like his name suggests, a morally corrupt man," Su Rong seemed to ignore Lin Feng's comment and began to recount her story.
"He is a hypocritical scoundrel; when he married me, it was only for my family fortune." As she started to vent her frustrations, Su Rong appeared to have found a confidant.
"Oh, he truly deserves it," Lin Feng thought that since Su Rong trusted him enough to share her story, he could only be a good listener.
"Later on, I discovered this, but he tore off the facade and showed his true colors, so I decided to get a divorce." By this point in her narrative, there was no trace of regret on Su Rong's face, only pure hatred.
"But he doesn't intend to let you go that easily; he wants you to give him something," Lin Feng suddenly interjected, leaving Su Rong momentarily stunned.
"Isn't that right?" Lin Feng countered.
"Not just right; it's too right. Lin Feng, how did you know?" Su Rong asked in surprise.
"Heh heh... I guessed it. Plus, I also know that you must have been separated from him for quite some time now," Lin Feng added.
"You investigated me?" If earlier Su Rong could believe that Lin Feng was merely guessing, now she truly couldn't explain how he knew so much. Anger flashed across her face.
"Heh heh... Rong Jie, don't misunderstand. The reason I know these things is due to my observations," Lin Feng quickly clarified upon seeing Su Rong's anger.
"Oh, then you wouldn't mind sharing how you observed all this?" Upon hearing Lin Feng's words, Su Rong's expression softened slightly, though she still held some suspicion.
"The reason I said you've been separated for a while is that the last time I visited your home, I noticed there were no signs of a man living there. Additionally, when you spoke about Wu Liang just now, there was no hint of nostalgia on your face. The separation you mentioned must have happened some time ago; that's why I said it had been a while," Lin Feng hurriedly explained. His observational skills were indeed sharp, but he hoped this wouldn't lead to any misunderstandings.
"Oh, that does make sense. I'm sorry about earlier," Su Rong finally believed him after hearing his explanation.
"This is just human nature, no need to apologize," Lin Feng waved his hand and said.
"Come on, to show my apology, let me buy you a drink. What do you want?" Su Rong, seeing that Lin Feng didn't seem to hold any grudges, felt relieved and spoke to him.
"Hehe... I think red wine would be better, but it's not really suitable for red wine here," Lin Feng replied with a smile.
"Oh, that's true. Then let's just leave it for now; I'll treat you to a drink in a more appropriate place later," Su Rong said, agreeing with Lin Feng's reasoning.
"Hehe... Lin Feng, you're quite different from other men. A beautiful woman offers you a drink and you refuse. I'm curious, if you don't drink, what are you doing here?" Su Rong suddenly asked out of curiosity upon seeing Lin Feng's demeanor.
"Hehe... I'm here with someone. That person dancing crazily over there is who I'm with. I'm here to protect her," Lin Feng answered honestly.
"Oh, she's quite pretty. Is she your sister?" Su Rong followed Lin Feng's finger and saw Chen Xinni dancing energetically, asking.
"Hehe... If my sister looked like her, I'd have slapped her right away. She's... um... the daughter of a friend of mine," Lin Feng continued to speak truthfully.
Chen Sheng was indeed Lin Feng's friend, and Chen Xinni was indeed Chen Sheng's daughter.
"Oh, so you have a friendship across generations," Su Rong found Lin Feng's words amusing. Chen Xinni appeared to be around the same age as Lin Feng, yet she was the daughter of one of his friends. If Lin Feng were a man in his forties, Su Rong could accept that.
"Yeah, I guess it's a friendship across generations. This crazy girl never stops once she gets going. Are you leaving? I need to take her back now," Lin Feng suddenly remembered that Chen Xinni had been dancing for half an hour and it was time to take her home.
Although half an hour might not be enough fun, it was awkward since Lin Feng didn't dance and wasn't going to start now. He felt bored watching Su Rong prepare to leave as well, so he decided it was best to take Chen Xinni away.
"Yeah, I'm about done too. How about this: didn't you just say you wanted red wine? I'm heading home anyway; let me invite you over for some wine," Su Rong suggested as she prepared to leave.
"Hehe... wouldn't that be inconvenient? It's getting a bit late," Lin Feng didn't mind going to Su Rong's house for a glass of red wine and some conversation. After all, it was just past nine o'clock—not too late—and it seemed like Su Rong also wanted someone to talk to.
"Not a problem, it's just me and my Mum at home," Su Rong said, feeling quite trusting towards Lin Feng.
"Okay, then I'll go find her. Wait for me for a bit," Lin Feng replied, feeling no need to hold back since there was a woman involved. He then went to look for Chen Xinni.
"Alright, I'll wait for you," Su Rong said when she saw Lin Feng agree.
"Hey, girl, have you had enough fun? Let's go," Lin Feng said as he navigated through the crowd and found Chen Xinni, interrupting her lively dance.
"What? I can't hear you," Chen Xinni replied helplessly. The noise in the Dancing Hall was overwhelming, and she couldn't hear Lin Feng at all. All she knew was that Lin Feng had just shown off his skills by saving a beautiful girl and was chatting with her. Seeing this made her unhappy.
Lin Feng could naturally hear Chen Xinni's words; after all, she bore his Spiritual Mark. Realizing it was impossible to get her attention in such an environment, he chose to simply drag her away.
"Hey, Lin Feng, let go! I haven't had enough fun yet!" Although Chen Xinni couldn't hear what Lin Feng was saying, she understood his actions. She struggled while calling out.
Lin Feng ignored Chen Xinni's protests and continued to pull her toward Su Rong's direction, where the noise would be quieter and they could communicate better.
However, Chen Xinni's resistance was no concern for Lin Feng. He brought her directly to Su Rong and then released her.
"Sorry for making you laugh, Rong Jie," Lin Feng said when he noticed Su Rong looking at him with amusement.
"That's alright. Hello, I'm Su Rong," Su Rong said as she took a closer look at Chen Xinni and couldn't help but think to herself how beautiful she was. She extended her hand to introduce herself to Chen Xinni.
"Chen Xinni." Although Chen Xinni had been far away and didn't know what Lin Feng and Su Rong were talking about earlier, she could tell that Lin Feng treated Su Rong better than he treated her. Therefore, she held no good feelings toward Su Rong and spoke to her with a sulky expression on her face.
In short, she wore an expression that clearly conveyed "keep your distance."
"Hehe... This girl doesn't know any better. Rong Jie, don't take it personally. Come on, let's step outside and talk," Lin Feng said awkwardly. It was clear that Chen Xinni was quite the spoiled young lady; she could turn cold in an instant. He could only adopt a peacemaking attitude as he spoke to Su Rong.
Of course, Su Rong walked out on her own, while Chen Xinni was forcibly taken out by Lin Feng.
"Chen Xinni, your dad gave me the chance to keep an eye on you. You're not a kid anymore, so go home by yourself and call me when you get there." Finally able to speak at the entrance of the bar, Lin Feng said to Chen Xinni.
"Lin Feng, I'm leaving. Where are you going?" Chen Xinni then realized that Lin Feng did not plan to leave with her and asked.
"I have something to discuss with Rong Jie; I'm going to her place," Lin Feng replied calmly, not intending to hide anything from Chen Xinni.
"Ah, what are you two going to do?" Hearing Lin Feng's words, Chen Xinni immediately reacted as if she had been bitten on the tail and asked.
"Just drinking and chatting; you don't need to worry about it," Lin Feng said.
"Well then, I have nothing else to do, so I might as well go to Rong Jie's house too. Rong Jie, you don't mind, do you?" Chen Xinni's big eyes twinkled as she quickly changed her expression and walked over to hug Su Rong's arm, starting to show off her charm.
"Sure, you're welcome," Su Rong smiled. She found Chen Xinni quite adorable and said.
"Thanks, Rong Jie! By the way, did you drive here?" Chen Xinni sweetly smiled at Su Rong and asked.
"I never drive when I come to a bar; I’ll have to trouble you all," Su Rong replied.
"How about this: Rong Jie, you can be my driver, and Lin Feng can take his car. Let's go," Chen Xinni suggested with a twinkle in her eyes.
After making the suggestion, she enthusiastically linked arms with Su Rong and headed toward where her car was parked. It was hard for Lin Feng to object.
"Alright then, Lin Feng, just follow our car," Su Rong said, seeing how enthusiastic Chen Xinni was and feeling it would be rude to refuse. She thought for a moment before calling out to Lin Feng.
"Okay, I will. Drive safely," Lin Feng replied, unable to oppose and only able to agree.
Just like that, Lin Feng followed Chen Xinni's car and arrived once again at Su Rong's house.
Lin Feng had been to Su Rong's home once before, so he recognized it. Since Chen Xinni was in front and Lin Feng was following closely behind, he could see them clearly.
Chen Xinni had drunk some alcohol at the bar. Although she didn't drink much and had danced, she had still consumed alcohol, which made Lin Feng worry that she might drive recklessly.
Of course, it turned out that Lin Feng was overthinking; Chen Xinni managed to drive steadily into Su Rong's villa.
"Wow... Rong Jie, your place is quite nice," Chen Xinni remarked as she got out of the car. Although she also lived in a villa, she couldn't help but express her admiration.
"Yeah, it's alright. Let's go inside," Su Rong said as she transformed into the hostess and welcomed them in.
"Okay, I won't be polite then," Chen Xinni said. She enjoyed making friends and, seeing how Su Rong treated her well, gradually let go of her initial reservations as she entered the villa.
"Rong Jie, sorry for the trouble," Lin Feng said politely to Su Rong, unlike Chen Xinni, before stepping inside.
"Lin Feng gege..." It turned out that Xiao Ling was still awake. She had been curious about the beautiful big sister who had just arrived at their home. Upon seeing Lin Feng enter, she rushed straight into his arms without caring how Chen Xinni ended up in her house.
"Yes, Xiao Ling remembers Lin Feng gege, good girl," Lin Feng said with genuine affection for Xiao Ling as he embraced her with a doting expression.
