For Meng Li's invitation, Lin Feng simply smiled and then walked in.
He also wanted to know the ins and outs of the situation; he was curious about what had happened to Meng Li. How did she end up in a place like a bar? “This is the place I rented. The living room outside isn’t decorated much; it’s just me and my sister living together,” Meng Li said as she poured a glass of water for Lin Feng, noticing him observing the surroundings.
“Oh.” In response, Lin Feng said nothing more, just nodded. He figured that Meng Li was saving money for other purposes since being a doctor may not have high income but isn’t too low either.
What Lin Feng wanted to know most right now was what had happened to the sisters, why he saw them at a bar, and why it was in such a scene.
“Meng Jie, if there’s anything you want to talk about, I might be able to help you,” Lin Feng thought for a moment and decided to speak directly since everyone knew what was going on.
“Alas... it’s my fault for not educating my sister properly,” upon hearing Lin Feng's words, Meng Li sighed and said.
Lin Feng didn’t say much else; he knew that since Meng Li had said that, she would definitely continue speaking.
Sure enough, after pondering for a while, Meng Li began to tell Lin Feng about recent events concerning her sister.
Speaking of which, Meng Li's sister is named Mengqi. She was going through a rebellious phase and, influenced by some bad students in her class, started frequenting bars and other places she shouldn't have been. Eventually, she got herself into serious trouble.
Mengqi was already beautiful, and the delinquent girls who took her to these places wanted to impress some local toughs, so they introduced Mengqi to them, leading to everything that happened afterward.
These toughs were not just looking for a bit of fun; upon hearing that Mengqi had an equally beautiful sister who was a doctor, they set their sights on Meng Li.
They first kidnapped Mengqi and then called Meng Li, demanding thirty thousand yuan to ransom her sister. Their intentions were clear: they wanted both money and the girl.
This led to the scene that Lin Feng later witnessed.
"Lin Feng, thank you so much. If it weren't for you, my sister and I..." Meng Li had been in society for a while and knew how difficult it was to deal with these toughs. As a vulnerable woman, she felt she had no choice but to take the money and gamble on her luck by confronting the thug.
If luck was on her side, she thought the best outcome would be to exchange thirty thousand yuan for both her and her sister's safety.
That was all she dared to hope for.
In fact, Meng Li had noticed something was off with her sister for some time. It wasn't unusual for Mengqi to stay out all night, but she still believed her sister would know how to handle herself. After all, Mengqi had never given her any trouble growing up.

That amount included all of Meng Li's salary, plus an additional five thousand yuan she borrowed from someone else.
"Alright, it's all over now." After hearing the whole story, Lin Feng could only advise Meng Li with a sense of relief.
"Lin Feng, thank you so much today. My sister is still in the room and her emotions are unstable. I need to go keep her company. Why don't you head back first? I'll treat you to a meal later," Meng Li said, her gaze evasive as she spoke to Lin Feng.
"Ah!" Lin Feng initially didn't understand what Meng Li meant, but after thinking it over, he realized that it wasn't that Meng Li was being heartless; she just didn't want to drag him into her troubles.
He thought about how that thug had suffered a big loss and would definitely not let Meng Li and the others off the hook. With Mengqi and her troublesome friends around, it wouldn't be hard for that thug to find out where Meng Li lived. Lin Feng estimated that it wouldn't be long before that thug came looking for them.
Meng Li didn't want Lin Feng to help them only to get entangled in their problems, so she pretended to be cold-hearted and urged him to leave.
In reality, after Lin Feng left, Meng Li would still have to pack up with her sister and temporarily leave this place. If they couldn't confront the trouble, they could at least hide from it. For now, Meng Li could only take things one step at a time.

The reason was simple: Lin Feng was someone who valued gratitude and would remember those who treated him well for life.
Thinking back to how Meng Li had helped him in the hospital moved Lin Feng deeply.
Just then, his phone rang.
"Hello..." Lin Feng gestured to Meng Li and then answered the call.
"Feng Shao, I've figured things out. Those people are just low-level thugs. After Wolf King revealed his identity earlier, they left. I've also helped collect the thirty thousand yuan. Is there anything else you need me to do?" Li Zhong reported from the other end of the line.
Just as Lin Feng expected, those people were just a bunch of insignificant jerks.
"Okay, you bring that guy over with the money. The address is..." Lin Feng thought for a moment and instructed Li Zhong. He had already learned Meng Li's address while he was with her earlier, so he reported it to Li Zhong.
"Got it, Feng Shao. I'll head over shortly," Li Zhong replied, understanding what Lin Feng wanted to do.
After hanging up the phone, Lin Feng said to Meng Li, "Meng Jie, this matter has been resolved. My friend that jerk will bring him over later to apologize to you."
Lin Feng thought it would be better to show a bit of strength in front of Meng Li; otherwise, he really wouldn't know how to handle this situation.
Lin Feng understood Meng Li's personality. If he didn't say something reassuring to her, she definitely wouldn't let him continue participating in this matter.
He also knew that if this issue were left for Meng Li to handle on her own, she would probably just hide away with Mengqi to avoid dealing with it.
However, Lin Feng didn't want that for Meng Li. They were renting the place; it didn't matter where they stayed. But just the thought of being scared would likely leave Meng Li feeling unsettled all day.
If that happened and she became careless at work, it wouldn't be good. Moreover, Lin Feng knew that Meng Li was still planning to continue her studies.
So after much thought, Lin Feng decided it was better to let Meng Li know some things. At least she needed to understand that he wasn't afraid of that jerk.
"Wow! You resolved it just like that?" Meng Li was surprised that Lin Feng could settle the matter with just one phone call and even arrange for someone to apologize to her.
She remembered the last time she saw Lin Feng; he was someone who couldn't even afford medical bills because he attempted suicide over a breakup. How did he suddenly become so capable?
"Hehe... I'll explain everything later. Just know that you don't have to worry about this," Lin Feng smiled at her response. It was expected that Meng Li would be surprised; right now, he just wanted her to know that the issue had been taken care of.
"By the way, my friend has already sent over the thirty thousand yuan," Lin Feng suddenly recalled what Li Zhong had mentioned earlier and told Meng Li.
"Ah!" Meng Li was once again surprised. The fact that this matter could be resolved already made her very happy, but now hearing that the thirty thousand yuan could be recovered left her even more astonished. She knew that those bastards were ruthless and would not easily part with their money, even after taking a beating.
Thinking of this, Meng Li's gaze towards Lin Feng changed. She realized that the boy in front of her, with his sunny smile, was no longer the big kid who couldn't afford medical expenses. He had grown capable, able to handle matters that she couldn't manage with ease.

Lin Feng also engaged in casual conversation with Meng Li. With her worries lifted, she returned to her warm and generous self, making Lin Feng feel that his efforts were worthwhile.
However, when it came to her younger sister, Meng Li's face was still filled with concern.
"Hey... Meng Jie, don't worry too much. I believe Mengqi will come to understand some things after this incident. Besides, I'm here too! As her older brother, I will talk to her properly," Lin Feng said, sensing what Meng Li was worried about and taking it upon himself.
"Yes, thank you so much, Lin Feng," Meng Li said again upon hearing his words.
"Hehe... I'm just returning the favor; there's no need to thank me," Lin Feng replied with a smile.
Before long, Li Zhong arrived with someone. Upon seeing Meng Li and Lin Feng, the person immediately knelt down and repeatedly expressed remorse, hoping for Meng Li's forgiveness.
