"Why are you here?"
Xu Qingyuan looked at the mermaid in front of him, feeling a little confused, but soon calmed down.
Here in the sea, nothing is impossible. Perhaps it's because of the close encounter with the mermaid today that I had such a fantastical dream.

Startled by the nightmare, Xu Qingyuan's back was covered in cold sweat, soaking through his pajamas and sticking tightly to his body. As he moved away from the warmth of the blankets, the cold air brought a chill, and Xu Qingyuan reached back to touch his head, finally fully awake.

As the laboratory door opened, a strong stench of blood and decay hit her, followed by the sight of blood and dozens of dismembered bodies scattered across the floor.
There's hardly a clean spot to step on. Lin Moyu endured the discomfort and walked up to the two people who were continuously taking photos of the bodies on the ground.
"Hello, officer. I wonder if you have found any new information."
An adult man in a white shirt and suit pants glanced at Lin Moyu and continued to casually jot down notes, asking, "Has the researcher who last contacted the deceased not arrived yet?"
Lin Moyu: "He was on vacation today, so I just reached him a moment ago. He arrived in just over ten minutes."
The two officials exchanged glances and nodded, then began to ignore Lin Moyu, instead looking around to observe their surroundings.
The empty laboratory quickly drew their attention to the experimental tank, and they gathered around it, circling as they examined it.
The experimental tank here appears to have no visible damage from the outside, but the metal sealing cap on top has been opened.
It seems the result is clear: this dangerous mermaid took advantage of the security and maintenance personnel opening the alloy sealing cap to escape from the tank and killed them.
Looking at the maintenance report just pulled from a piece of the trunk, Janice opened it and flipped through until she reached the last page, which read: The internal protective net of the experimental tank is damaged and needs repair. There are signs of mermaid care, requiring only Level 3 security.
What does this mean?
Before Janice could think much, Doppler had already climbed up the glass staircase to the top of the tank. He placed his hands on the edge of the tank, preparing to lean in and take a look at the structure inside.
