They looked at me in disbelief.
"Do you know what you're doing?"
I nodded and replied, "Of course."
The principal and the homeroom teacher were left speechless.
They exchanged glances, unsure of what to say.
I continued walking forward, muttering to myself.
"Three, two, one..."
As soon as I finished speaking, the principal's phone rang.
He glanced at me before answering the call.
"What?"
"Okay, okay."
"I'll be right there."
After hanging up, the principal dashed away in a hurry.
The homeroom teacher was stunned.
He watched the principal's retreating figure and asked, "Where are you going?"
The principal did not respond and disappeared without a trace.
The homeroom teacher turned to me, gritting his teeth.
"Jiang Ming, this is your doing."
I looked at him and asked, "What did I do?"
The homeroom teacher replied, "You made the principal leave in anger."
I looked at him and asked, "So what now?"
The homeroom teacher responded, "You need to go find him."
I looked at him and said, "I'm not going."
The homeroom teacher glared at me and threatened, "You have to go."
I looked back at him and smiled slightly.
"I'm not going; I want to give a speech."
The homeroom teacher was taken aback.
He stared at me, gritting his teeth.
"You—!"
I blinked and asked, "What's wrong with me?"
The homeroom teacher glared at me fiercely, saying nothing.
I ignored him and turned to walk towards the podium.
Just a few steps in, I heard the homeroom teacher's voice behind me.
"Wait a minute."
I stopped and turned to look at him.
"What is it?"
The homeroom teacher approached, glaring at me.
"Are you really going to give a speech?"
I nodded and replied, "Of course."
The homeroom teacher glared at me even more fiercely.
"Do you know the consequences of doing this?"
I looked at him and asked, "What consequences?"
He replied, "You will become the enemy of the school."
I looked at him and asked, "So what?"
He answered, "The school will deal with you."
I looked at him and smiled slightly.
"I know."
The homeroom teacher stared at me and asked, "Then do you still dare?"
I nodded and replied, "Of course."
He was left speechless.
He glared at me and asked, "Jiang Ming, why do you have to do this?"
I looked at him and answered, "Because I want to protect myself."
The homeroom teacher was taken aback.
He looked at me and asked, "What do you mean?"
I replied, "It's simple; since the school won't protect me, I will protect myself."
The homeroom teacher stared at me without saying a word.
I continued walking forward.
Just a few steps later, he called out to me again.
"Wait a moment."
I stopped in my tracks and turned to look at him.
"What is it now?"
The homeroom teacher looked at me, hesitating to speak.
"You..."
"Be careful."
I looked at him and smiled slightly.
"I know."
I turned back and walked forward without looking back.
Behind me, I heard the homeroom teacher let out a soft sigh.
Soon, I arrived behind the podium.
Just as I steadied myself, a person who looked like a leader approached and asked, "Are you Jiang Ming?"
I looked at him and nodded.
The leader looked at me and asked, "What are you doing here?"
I replied, "Giving a speech."
The leader was taken aback.
He looked at me and asked, "Who told you to give a speech?"
I answered, "The academic director and the homeroom teacher."
The leader stared at me in silence.
I asked him, "What's wrong?"
The leader replied, "The academic director just called and said your school's representative speech has been moved to the last slot."
I looked at him and asked, "Why?"
The leader responded, "I don't know."
