"I know."
"But I really can't do anything."

I asked.
"No."
Li Jing shook her head again.
"I... resigned."
She said softly.
"Resigned?"
I was taken aback for a moment.
"Yes."
"I didn't want this to affect my work, so I resigned."
I opened my mouth, feeling a mix of emotions.
"Actually, I had thought about resigning before."
She smiled and said, "After all, I've always lived in my father's shadow; I wanted to change my way of life."

I nodded, feeling somewhat heavy-hearted.

She suddenly looked up at me.
"But what?"
I asked in confusion.
"But I've come to terms with it now."
"So today, I'm here to apologize on behalf of my father," Li Jing said seriously as she looked at me.
"No need."
I waved my hand and said, "This has nothing to do with you."
"No."
Li Jing shook her head and said, "It's my dad's fault, but as his daughter, I should also take responsibility."

I looked at Li Jing, feeling a bit moved.
"I know you might think I'm foolish."
Li Jing smiled and said, "But I have my principles."
"I understand."
I nodded and asked, "So what are your plans now?"
Li Jing opened her mouth, paused for a moment, and quietly said, "I want to continue my studies."
"Continue your studies?"
I was taken aback for a moment.
"Yes."
Li Jing nodded and said, "I was pursuing a doctorate before; I want to continue."
I opened my mouth in shock.
"I hope that through my own efforts, I can change my fate."
Li Jing looked at me with determination in her eyes.
I nodded, feeling a bit impressed.
"Thank you."
Li Jing looked at me and smiled.
"No need to thank me."
I waved my hand and said, "I support you."
"Yes."
Li Jing nodded, fell silent for a moment, and then quietly said, "Actually, I came here today for another reason."
"What reason?"
I asked in confusion.
Li Jing opened her mouth as if she had something difficult to say.
"It's okay; just tell me," I said with a smile.
Li Jing hesitated for a moment and then quietly said, "I want to ask for your help."
"Help you?"
I was taken aback again.
"Yes."
Li Jing nodded slightly, her expression somewhat conflicted.
"If there's something on your mind, just say it."
I looked at Li Jing and said.
Li Jing opened her mouth, paused for a moment, and quietly said, "Can you lend me some money?"
"Lend you money?"
I was taken aback for a moment.
"Yes."
Li Jing nodded and said, "My brother's medical bills haven't been fully paid yet, and I don't have a job right now, so..."
I hesitated.
To be honest, it wasn't that I was unwilling to lend her money; I just thought this girl was too naive.
If she really borrowed money, she would never be able to escape from her father for the rest of her life.
"Don't worry, I'll pay you back."
Li Jing looked at me with determination in her eyes.
"It's not about paying back or not."
I shook my head and said, "I just think you shouldn't be so foolish."
She fell silent.
"Think it over carefully."
I sighed and said, "I hope you can make the right choice."
Li Jing nodded, remained silent for a moment, and quietly said, "Thank you."
"No need to thank me."
I waved my hand and said, "I haven't really helped much."
"No."
Li Jing shook her head and said, "At least you're willing to listen to me talk about this; I'm already very grateful."
I smiled bitterly inside.
