"Iron Bull" muttered from the side, "What opinion can I have? What else can I do against 'Third Brother' except admit defeat? I haven't won a single match against 'Third Brother' since we started sparring. How am I supposed to fight?" "Liu Guanfeng" merely smiled at "Iron Bull's" aggrieved expression without saying anything.
"Bao Rui" said, "I think there's no need for us to continue fighting. We have plenty of time to spar among the four of us, and there's no need to reveal all our strengths to them. So I've decided to concede in this afternoon's competition."
Upon hearing that "Bao Rui" was going to concede, "Copper Bull" protested, "I say, Baozi, I've never beaten you in practice. You've mastered 'Third Brother's' Tai Chi very well, and your comprehension ability is much stronger than mine. I think it's better if I concede."
"Liu Guanfeng" stood up, "You two don't need to argue. Let's go with what 'Bao Rui' said. However, 'Copper Bull', we need to agree that in this Knight Campus Competition, we will share the rewards with 'Bao Rui' and 'Iron Bull'."
"Copper Bull" patted his chest and promised, "No problem. I'm just aiming for second place, so thank you, 'Little Bun'." "Bao Rui" smiled back at "Copper Bull".
When the afternoon competition began, all the spectators were frustrated because no one fought in the first two matches. One side simply conceded right away. It wasn't until the third match that there was something to watch; however, "Ji Hu", possessing the strength of a Junior Knight, fought a few rounds with "Cui Wenwu", who also voluntarily conceded.
There is still a certain gap between Junior Knights and Apprentice Knights, but that is under the premise of not having Iron Skin Soup.
On the Arena of the Advanced Mount Competition, xp's opponent was a Golden-Eyed Eagle. The boy opposite "Liu Guanfeng" was a Vice Commander's Child, about 1.4 meters tall. Upon seeing xp, he wore a disdainful expression:
"That kid over there, can your broken dog even compare to my Golden Eagle? I advise you to get off the stage quickly; otherwise, if I make you cry, it won't be good. My Golden Eagle is not some useless Gorilla."
"Liu Guanfeng" calmly looked at the boy across from him: "I've said it before in the Arena; talking is useless. Why don't you learn your lesson? If you can talk my little dog to death, then go ahead and try."
The boy snorted coldly: "I see you're not shedding tears until you see the coffin. Since you don't know what's good for you, don't blame me for being merciless."
With the referee's shout of "Start," the opposing Golden Eagle soared into the sky. Meanwhile, xp stood firmly in the middle of the Arena without even lifting his head. After several seconds, the Golden-Eyed Eagle dove down with its body glowing gold. When it was still about twenty meters away from xp, he suddenly looked up. His red eyes locked onto the Golden-Eyed Eagle in the sky.
Looking at the Golden-Eyed Eagle, its golden glow suddenly vanished, and it fell from a height of over ten meters. It crashed onto the Arena and fainted. The confident smile on the boy's face across from it turned into tears. A simple Advanced Mount Competition came to an end. XP achieved a perfect victory, and Liu Guanfeng shook his Leader's hand as he left the Arena.
The afternoon competitions concluded with two winning groups: the victorious knights in the Campus Competition were Liu Guanfeng, Liu Tongniu, and Ji Hu; the winners of the Advanced Mount Competition were XP, Ji Hu's Golden Light Tiger, and Cui Wenwu's Flame Tiger.
The teachers and students of Rainfront Academy happily returned to their dormitories. XP ranked in the top three, and both Liu Guanfeng and Liu Tongniu also made it into the top three, a record that had never been achieved since the academy was established. To celebrate this achievement, Dean Su specially arranged for extra dishes for all teachers and students that evening. After returning to their dorms, Dean Su sent over a roasted chicken, a roasted duck, beef, and other foods for Liu Guanfeng and his friends to enjoy as a late-night snack.
Just as they finished dinner and were heading to their dormitory, a few people outside were looking for Liu Guanfeng and Copper Bull. When Liu Guanfeng, Copper Bull, Iron Bull, and Bao Rui came out, they found seven or eight attendants standing at the door. One of them was a middle-aged man who appeared very shrewd.
After finding a secluded spot, the middle-aged man addressed Liu Guanfeng: "You must be Liu Guanfeng. I won't beat around the bush. I’m the chief steward of General Ji's Mansion. I'm here to tell you that when you fight my young master in two days, you should voluntarily forfeit."
Liu Guanfeng raised an eyebrow at this: "Forfeit? Why?"
"Why? Because he is the son of General Ji," Master Ji said dismissively without considering Liu Guanfeng important.
Liu Guanfeng burst into laughter: "Ha~ha~! So what if he’s General Ji’s son? Do you think just because he’s General Ji that I would give up? Dream on. You seem like a lackey yourself; I won’t stoop to your level. Go back and tell your master that if he wants to win against me, he should come at me openly instead of using such tactics. Does he even deserve to be called a general?"
The chief steward sneered: "You really don’t know what’s good for you, daring to speak like that about our general. I see you have a long life ahead of you."
"Whether or not I have a long life is something you'll find out if you try," Liu Guanfeng said as he and his friends prepared for battle.
At this moment, the chief steward seemed frightened as he told the attendants behind him: "Let’s go; you’d better watch yourself."
Liu Guanfeng and his friends returned to their dormitory while Master Ji went back to General Ji's Mansion to report what had happened to Ji Tiangang. After hearing the steward's account, Ji Tiangang laughed heartily:
"Good~good. This kid named Liu Guanfeng has the same stubborn temper as his father. He really has some backbone. Alright, I understand now; you can leave." After dismissing the steward, Ji Tiangang took a carriage to the palace.
Upon entering the King's Imperial Study, I recounted what the Chief Steward had just said to His Majesty Sun Guangshan. Sun Guangshan asked Ji Tiangang, "What do you think of Liu Guanfeng, my dear minister?"
Ji Tiangang clasped his fists and replied, "Your Majesty, I believe Liu Guanfeng is a promising individual. Through my observations over the past few days, he treats his followers like brothers. His subordinates hold him in high regard, and he possesses a strong character that does not fear authority."
Sun Guangshan nodded, "One's character is shaped from a young age. I did not expect that a child who cannot cultivate would display such qualities. His perseverance shows his courage, and his ability to treat his subordinates as family reflects his benevolence. Very well. You may leave now."
After Ji Tiangang departed, Sun Guangshan began to formulate his own plans.
Back in the dormitory, several people were still discussing what had just happened.
"Third Brother, what do you think Master Ji's visit was about? He spoke for only a moment before leaving," Iron Bull expressed his confusion.
Liu Guanfeng shook his head, "I'm not entirely sure either. However, one thing you all must remember is that while we do not bully others, we cannot allow others to bully us. Regardless of who they are, we must stand tall and maintain our dignity. Even as ordinary people, we should have integrity."
Bao Rui and the others nodded in agreement. A small commotion had passed.
The next day marked the start of the Campus Competition for the B team, which lasted a day and a half to determine the winners. In the knight battles, although Cui Wenwu was strong, he fell short compared to Bao Rui and Iron Bull. During the match between Bao Rui and Iron Bull, Bao Rui conceded early, resulting in Bao Rui finishing fifth, Cui Wenwu sixth, and Iron Bull fourth.
Next came the highly anticipated competition for the top three spots. The first knight duel featured Copper Bull against Liu Guanfeng. The two had previously agreed that Copper Bull would concede. In the Advanced Mount Competition, XP had a bye in the first round. Ji Hu's Golden Light Tiger faced Cui Wenwu's Flame Tiger in an intense battle, with Golden Light Tiger narrowly claiming victory.
In the afternoon, Liu Guanfeng would face his strongest opponent yet: Ji Hu. Meanwhile, XP's opponent would be Cui Wenwu's Flame Tiger.
As Liu Guanfeng stepped onto the Arena in the afternoon, he was joined by his opponent—Ji Hu, son of General Ji Tiangang. Ji Hu was taller than Copper Bull and had visibly developed muscles. In Apprentice Knight matches, physical strength was more critical than Fighting Qi; thus, most competitors showcased their power rather than speed.
Ji Hu's strength appeared comparable to Copper Bull's, so Liu Guanfeng did not underestimate him. Quickly shedding all heavy gear made him feel inexplicably light once all wrist guards, leg guards, and vests were removed.
The referee announced, "The match begins."
Ji Hu launched a strong attack, stepping forward with a punch. Liu Guanfeng used his speed to sidestep the attack and delivered a flying kick to Ji Hu's back. After being kicked, Ji Hu stumbled forward two steps before regaining his balance. Ji Hu turned to look at Liu Guanfeng:
"I didn't expect your speed to be this fast, but your power is still lacking."
Liu Guanfeng knew in his heart that the kick he just delivered only used about sixty percent of his strength.
Ji Hu turned around and continued his assault, charging towards Liu Guanfeng. He executed a sweeping kick, prompting Liu Guanfeng to jump back. Ji Hu then rose and kicked towards Liu Guanfeng's waist with his heel. Liu Guanfeng prepared to take the hit, testing Ji Hu's strength. When Liu Guanfeng was struck, he could feel that Ji Hu's power was somewhat stronger than Copper Bull's, but it didn't really affect him much.
Only Liu Guanfeng's clothes showed signs of scratches from the impact. At this moment, Ji Hu stood still in the arena, watching Liu Guanfeng: "How does it feel, Liu Guanfeng? My Metallic attack isn't pleasant, right?"
Liu Guanfeng nodded: "It's okay." Ever since using Iron Skin Soup, Liu Guanfeng's skin had become very tough, providing strong defense against ordinary Metallic attacks.
Liu Guanfeng assumed a stance and said to Ji Hu: "Come again."
At this point, Liu Guanfeng no longer held back his strength; he merely suppressed the abilities of a Junior Knight. He charged in front of Ji Hu and threw a punch straight at Ji Hu's chest. Ji Hu hurriedly sidestepped to evade, but Liu Guanfeng's punch was a feint. As he reached Ji Hu, he noticed Ji Hu was about to sidestep and immediately crouched down for a sweeping kick. Ji Hu had no time to dodge and was knocked down.
After getting up, Ji Hu attempted another flying kick at Liu Guanfeng. Liu Guanfeng sidestepped and used both hands to push Ji Hu's thigh outward, sending him flying over two meters away. Once Ji Hu got up, he immediately attacked again. Liu Guanfeng fully utilized his speed advantage; for every punch he dodged, he landed either a punch or a kick on Ji Hu. Moreover, Liu Guanfeng's strength was on par with Ji Hu's, so every time Ji Hu's attack was thwarted, he would be hit hard and thrown off balance.
This is the fourth update today, making up for yesterday's missed update. Thank you all for your support!
