Two young eunuchs approached from behind, flanking Yui and dragging her along. Yui puffed out her cheeks and widened her eyes, clearly confused. One of the eunuchs kindly informed her, "Miss, just now when Master extended his hand, you should have responded in time..." He made a gesture with his finger and then indicated with his eyes, "Do you understand?"
The other eunuch interrupted him, "Why say so much to her? She has already angered Master. With Master's stingy nature, there won't be another chance. Otherwise, given this young lady's beauty, there would still be hope."
The two eunuchs let go of Yui and shook their heads as they walked away. Yui stood in place, blinking her eyes and recalling the eunuch's gesture, scratching her head in confusion about what it meant.
A cold laugh reached her ears, a mocking tone that belonged to Dian Yin, "Idiot."
Yui looked from a distance at Dian Yin standing before Master, transformed into a different figure with a flattering smile. This shocked Yui so much that she broke out in goosebumps; Dian Yin was truly a jerk for being able to mock her even from afar.
Yui scratched her head and pondered what that gesture meant. Feeling unsettled, she glanced around and casually walked over to a small stall.
The Stall Owner greeted her enthusiastically, "Miss, would you like to buy some rouge? I have all kinds here, fragrant for miles. I guarantee that once you apply it, you'll remain youthful and beautiful forever." Then he pointed and added, "You'll surely be selected as the Fourth Prince's maid tomorrow."
Such words were truly remarkable; could it really be that effective? Do girls really become beautiful just by applying this?
Yui's eyes lit up as she lowered her head to pick through the options. Unsure which was good or bad, she finally settled on a color. When she looked up again, she noticed the Stall Owner's gesture was surprisingly similar to that of the young eunuch.
Yui became excited, her eyes shining like a hunter spotting prey, which startled the Stall Owner into swallowing hard. "Miss...?"
Yui mimicked the gesture, leaving the Stall Owner puzzled as he looked at her and then at the rouge in her hand. He continued to enthusiastically make the same gesture while smiling broadly, thinking the young girl was ready to make a purchase.
