Finally taking a last glance at the house she had lived in for three years, Lexington gently closed the door, grabbed the two suitcases placed beside it, and turned to walk toward the courtyard.
"Mr. Lin, are you going on another trip?" Xie Tao, who had been waiting outside, hurried over to help Lexington put the suitcases in the trunk of the car.
"No, I'm planning to resign. Please take me to the company," Lexington said as she pressed down the trunk lid. She turned to look at the ancient, serene courtyard one last time before getting into the back seat of the car.
"Resign?" Xie Tao was momentarily taken aback but quickly regained his composure. He hurriedly walked to the front of the car, opened the driver's door, and got in.
"Mr. Lin, why do you want to resign?" He hesitated to ask; after all, matters concerning upper management were not something a mere chauffeur like him should inquire about. However, having worked with Mr. Lin for so long and being treated well by her, he couldn't help but ask.
"It's nothing specific; I just want to go out and see the world," Lexington replied calmly, gazing out at the buildings passing by outside the window. Her expression was serene, devoid of the sadness from last night, and a faint smile returned to her face, transforming her back into that gentle and intelligent beautiful woman.
Last night was a farewell to her past life! Although Admiral was no longer around, life had to go on. The only thing she was truly worried about now was her sister Saratoga. Based on her own experiences and those of Firefly, there was a high possibility that when Naval Base disappeared, everyone left in a similarly inexplicable manner and ended up in a completely unfamiliar place.
Previously, she had always thought that Naval Base still existed; even if she left, her sister Saratoga would be doing well there. But now, without that sheltering Naval Base, she had been wandering outside for four years and didn't know how Saratoga was faring. However, she hoped it wouldn't be too bad. Although Jaja was not as composed as she was and had a more lively personality, during their time at Naval Base, she had helped Lexington handle many matters. With her abilities, even without relying on Fleet Girls' powers, she could easily manage many tasks.
No matter how she thought about it, Lexington felt an overwhelming urge to see her sister—there was no other reason; she simply wanted to.
After the car stopped at the company's building, Lexington dragged her suitcase inside and temporarily left it at the front desk in the lobby before turning toward the stairs.
The president's office was on the top floor of the six-story building. As she ascended, several passing employees greeted Lexington, and she politely responded to each one.
"Good morning, Sister Lin." As soon as she reached the sixth floor, the sharp-eyed secretary Xiaoling came forward to greet her.
"Xiaoling, is the chairman in?" Lexington asked while walking toward her office.
As the company's executive president, Lexington always felt inadequate in her role. Throughout the year, aside from regular holidays, she spent two to three months traveling and completely neglected company matters. In fact, during several board meetings, multiple directors had suggested revoking her presidency. However, those proposals were ultimately suppressed by the chairman.
Whenever she was away from the company, it was usually the chairman—who rarely took charge—who returned to oversee company affairs in her absence.
Thinking about this made her feel somewhat guilty towards the company and the chairman. However, it didn't matter much; today she would be leaving this place and perhaps would never return.
"He is. Ever since you took leave, Sister Lin, the chairman has been in the office every day." As she spoke, Xiaoling stepped ahead and opened the office door for Lexington.
"Sister Lin, are you going to see the chairman? Do you need me to prepare any materials?"
"No need." Lexington shook her head, opened the drawer of her desk, took out a project proposal to glance at it, and then looked up. "Xiaoling, please notify all department managers to meet in the conference room at nine-thirty sharp."
"Okay, Sister Lin."
Although she was about to leave the company soon, the chairman had indeed treated her well. Before departing, she thought it best to contribute something to the company!
With that in mind, Lexington opened the project proposal and began to read it carefully and attentively.
Time passed quietly in this atmosphere, ticking away minute by minute.

The office door was gently pushed open, revealing a middle-aged woman in her forties, dressed in a well-tailored black suit. She exuded an air of sharp competence.
The woman's name was Gao Yue, the chairwoman of the company. Despite her youthful appearance, she was actually fifty years old. After losing her husband, she took over a small business on the brink of collapse from him. Now, just fifteen years later, that small enterprise had developed into the largest industrial group in Southeast Asia, showcasing what kind of person Gao Yue truly was.
As a powerful businesswoman, Gao Yue could not tolerate any incompetence. However, over the past two years, she had repeatedly defended Lin Qing, the company’s CEO whom she had personally promoted. The reason was simple: as long as you had the capability, even if you didn’t come to the office for a year, Gao Yue wouldn’t say a word.
Indeed! In the eyes of those board members who were bloated and clueless, merely waiting for year-end bonuses, Lin Qing seemed to be neglecting her duties. As the CEO, she frequently took leave and appeared not to care about the company's development at all.
But they never bothered to ask the department managers below them; Lin Qing always arranged everything before taking leave. In fact, during Lin Qing's absence, Gao Yue didn’t need to come to the office at all because Lin Qing had already organized all matters thoroughly. The staff simply needed to follow the plans issued by her step by step. A bunch of fools! They didn’t even consider how much profit the company had increased during Lin Qing's two years in office; they just sat around complaining.
Perhaps it was due to being too serious! Lexington hadn’t noticed Gao Yue entering until she had nearly finished reviewing the entire proposal and confirmed there were no omissions. Only then did Lexington notice the chairwoman sitting on a side sofa.
"I'm sorry, Chairwoman, for keeping you waiting," Lexington said with a polite smile, feeling somewhat self-deprecating. When had he lost even the basic alertness expected of Fleet Girls? Perhaps he had been living too comfortably for too long!
"Just right, Chairwoman. I have some matters I would like to discuss with you."
