The room was filled with a warm and playful atmosphere, adorned with pink wallpaper, posters featuring cartoon characters, a comic book on the desk, and various children's toys and stuffed animals scattered around.
Against the wall, there were two single beds on either side of the window. Suddenly, a golden little head peeked out from under the covers of the left bed. The small child slowly sat up, illuminated by the warm glow of the bedside lamp, and looked over at the opposite bed.
Upon noticing that the blonde girl on that bed had her eyes tightly closed and was breathing steadily in deep sleep, the little girl’s eyes lit up. However, she still cautiously called out softly a couple of times.
"Sister Airi, Sister Airi."
Seeing that there was no response, her firefly-like eyes curved with relief. She hugged her teddy bear from under the covers and quickly slid off the bed.
Saratoga Sister had told her not to go find Lexington Sister tonight and had asked Sister Airi to keep an eye on her. But she wanted to go anyway; she loved Lexington Sister's warm and fragrant embrace.
Thinking this, the little firefly dressed in a cream-colored pajama set with a bear pattern put on her cotton slippers and tiptoed toward the door, occasionally glancing back at Andrea Doria to check on her movements. When the little girl finally made it to the door, her small hand touched the slightly cold doorknob when a haughty voice suddenly rang in her ear.
"Firefly, where are you going?" Andrea Doria sat up in bed, her gaze fixed intently on the dazed firefly by the door, a hint of disdain on her face.
Saratoga had already promised to buy her a toy car in exchange for keeping an eye on Firefly and making sure she didn’t run off.
Hmph! Silly Firefly thought she could outsmart her; didn’t she know who she was? She was the great Battleship Lord Andrea Doria. How could a mere Destroyer escape from her grasp?
"Sister Airi, are you not asleep?" Firefly turned around blankly, looking dejectedly at Andrea Doria.
"I am of course asleep, but as a great Battleship Girl, I must always remain vigilant. Unlike you, who sleeps like a dead pig and can’t be woken no matter how much you push." Andrea Doria never hesitated to praise herself.
"By the way, don't change the subject. You still haven't told me what you were going to do just now?" Andrea Doria also slipped off the bed, standing in front of Firefly with her hands on her hips, her gaze full of scrutiny.
"Well, Sister Airi, I was actually going to the bathroom," Firefly lied.
"Oh, then go ahead!" With that, Andrea Doria opened the door to the bathroom.
In this apartment building, whether it was a single room or a suite, each dormitory had its own independent bathroom, so Firefly's excuse was too flimsy.
"Uh..." Firefly pouted and glared at Andrea Doria before turning around and dejectedly returning to bed.
"Sister Airi is a big bad guy. Firefly will never play with you again."
Saying this, Loli raised the stuffed bear in her hands and angrily tugged at its face as if venting her frustration.
"If you don't want to play, then fine! I don't care about playing with you anyway! Once Saratoga buys me a little car tomorrow, I definitely won't take you to play," Andrea Doria huffed lightly and turned back to her bed.
However, Andrea Doria had no intention of sleeping; she needed to keep a close eye on Firefly for the sake of the little car.
Meanwhile, in Lexington's room, looking at the beautiful figure reflected in the mirror, Lexington's face was burning hot. She knew very well what was about to happen next; after all, men were creatures who thought with their lower bodies.
"Ma'am, are you ready yet?"
When Chuyang's voice sounded again from outside the bathroom door urging her on, Lexington dried off the water droplets on her body with a towel and stepped out wearing a white bathrobe.
"Pure as a lotus flower, naturally unadorned."
Under the dim light, as the bathrobe slipped away, a perfect figure was revealed before Chuyang.
All words became pale at that moment. When Lexington's warm body fell into his arms, the two of them collapsed onto the soft bed behind them, and the night outside seemed to become enchanting at that instant.
Meanwhile, Saratoga stealthily peeked out from the door of the adjacent room. After confirming that the corridor was empty, she quietly stepped out, but in her right hand, she held a small stool.
It seemed that Sister-in-law was determined to eavesdrop. Moreover, if she were discovered by her sister and brother-in-law, Saratoga had already prepared an excuse: to prevent the universe from being disrupted... cough! No, to prevent fireflies from disturbing her sister and brother-in-law's good time, she was ready to stay up all night guarding the door. Look at how considerate Sister-in-law is...
Unfortunately, Saratoga did not last long before returning to her room with flushed cheeks. Her roommate Isuzu had long since fallen asleep, leaving Sister-in-law alone in bed, tossing and turning restlessly.
Also unable to sleep was Richelieu in another room. Don't get it wrong; although Lexington's room was right next to Richelieu's, one could only say that the Admiral who built this stronghold was quite talented. He had thought of everything, so each room had excellent soundproofing, and Richelieu couldn't hear any noise from the adjacent room at all.
The reason she was still awake so late was that she was lost in thought.
Gently rubbing the ring on her left ring finger, Richelieu wore a sweet smile.
Back at the Naval Base, Lexington was the envy of everyone because she was the only one who received a ring and became the Admiral's Wedding Ship among the Fleet Girls. At that time, no matter how hard she tried to perform on the battlefield and bring victories back to the Naval Base, she never received any acknowledgment from the Admiral. So she could only pretend not to care, which led many other Fleet Girls to mistakenly believe that she had no feelings for the Admiral and only wanted to focus on enhancing the Naval Base. Thus, she was teased by Saratoga, who constantly mentioned "brother-in-law," as a leftover girl like Joan of Arc.
Only she knew how much she wished for the Admiral's recognition and to become the Admiral's Wedding Ship like Lexington.
When they met again and she saw the Admiral with Lexington in what looked like a family scene, she felt a surge of anger. But little did she expect that in a moment of rage, her attempt to scare the Admiral would earn her a ring—a wedding ring that she had always desired but could never obtain.
