Today we are heading to Dream City. It is clear that there will be far fewer students than when we went to Beast Forest, with most of them being upperclassmen and very few freshmen. I still have some questions, so I should ask my mentor before we leave.
"Mentor, I have something I'd like to ask you." Nian glanced at me and said to the nearby student, "You can go ahead; I'll find you later."
After the student left, Nian smiled and asked, "What's wrong, Xi Meng?" I really like Nian; every time she smiles at me, it feels very much like a mother's warmth. Perhaps it's because she has interacted with many human Dream Soul Masters, which makes me feel relaxed around her.
"It's like this: last time Grandpa Ronda mentioned that my beast's situation was due to my insufficient ability or my inability to merge with it. What should I do?"
"There was a similar case with another family's Dream Soul Master before. Is there something inside you?"
"It's the Pure Sound that Snow Spirit gave me." I trust Nian completely, so I never hide anything from her.
"It's Pure Sound! You're really lucky. No wonder your adaptability is stronger than previous Dream Soul Masters; it makes sense now. It is a divine object from the realm of light. But your beast comes from the underworld and belongs to darkness. So initially, they definitely won't merge."
"What should I do then?" Oh my, this is so confusing.
"There are only two possible outcomes. One is that your beast becomes stronger and guides Pure Sound towards the demon realm." Nian looked deeply at me. What she said couldn't mean that Pure Sound would turn into demonic sound like Snow Spirit did, right? No way; both Yu and Snow Spirit value it so much; I can't let it be destroyed in my hands.
"The second possibility is that the Pure Sound within you purifies the beast. Perhaps it might even become a divine beast in the future."
"How to choose depends on you. You're not a ghost, so I can't influence your decision. Just remember, Xi Meng, regardless of which outcome occurs, the price you pay will be heavy. After all, the process of merging them will be painful, but you will gain more in the end." Nian looked at me gently.
"I understand, Mentor. Thank you."
"Alright, go gather everyone. Be careful, Xi Meng."
"Okay, I will." I smiled at her and turned to walk away.
“Xi Meng, over here.” Silver Moon waved at me from a short distance away. At the same time, many gazes turned towards me. Senior, do you really not know how charming you are?
I quickly walked over to Silver Moon's side and noticed that there was another figure beside him. He wore a strange mask with an incomprehensible design. With white hair and dressed in a black robe, he had a brown belt around his waist and carried a giant axe on his back. Although his face was hidden, he gave off a very sharp impression. Additionally, there was a strong aura of death surrounding him. It felt oddly familiar, as if I had encountered someone with this kind of presence before.
“Xi Meng, this is Wild Ghost, one of our team members this time,” Silver Moon's interruption snapped me back to reality. I realized I had fallen into my old habit of getting lost in my thoughts.
“Hello, I am Xi Meng. I appreciate your help this time.”
“Mm, let’s go.” Wild Ghost turned and walked ahead.
“Don’t mind him; he usually ignores everyone,” Silver Moon said. But Senior, weren’t you like that too? It was quite amusing. Seeing Silver Moon’s serious expression made me unable to hold back a chuckle.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, let’s go, Senior.”
Just like that, we students followed the Training Director to Dream City. The director stopped and told us we would have to proceed on our own from here, then disappeared. The group didn’t scatter; instead, we began entering in an orderly manner. This was just the entrance of a cave, very narrow, with a stone tablet standing at the entrance that read ‘Dream City’ in golden letters.
I cautiously followed behind Silver Moon and Wild Ghost. Suddenly, I felt a glimmer of light, followed by a burst of brightness that made my eyes uncomfortable. After being in such darkness for so long, I had never seen such a bright place; it was like daytime in the human world. Gradually adjusting, I slightly opened my eyes. Oh my god, the word magnificent couldn’t even begin to describe it. It seemed like just a grand hall with an enormous crystal chandelier hanging above. Gold, colorful gems, dazzling diamonds, agate—everything that sparkled was present here; even the smallest objects were stunningly beautiful. Everything around was filled with **; those demons and ghosts were immersed in it.
As I was completely astonished, a figure appeared in the center of the hall. He looked like an elder, but I didn’t particularly like him because he had a sly expression on his face and especially disliked his thin mustache. Sure enough, his voice was also quite sinister.
“Welcome to the Demon Emperor Silver Hall, Students. I believe some old friends know the rules here; I won’t repeat them. As for the new friends, please… ask those nearby who know,” he said. Indeed, some new Students looked bewildered; what kind of introduction was this?
“Prince Silvermoon, welcome to your arrival.” The sly-looking man approached.
“Hello, Elder Qian.” So his surname is Qian; no wonder.
"You've come too. It's a pity about last time. I wonder how your consideration for becoming my disciple is going?" Elder Qian looked at the Wild Ghost.
"No need for that." The Wild Ghost remained as cold as ever, and I really couldn't understand what was going on in his mind.
"Ah, what a pity." Elder Qian looked regretful, but I found it rather amusing. He suddenly turned to me, squinting his already small eyes as he circled around me twice. "Hmm, hmm, hmm, you must be the new Student."
"Hello, Elder Qian, my name is Xi Meng."
"Alright, let me briefly explain the rules here. First, you can use anything that isn't marked, but don't even think about hoarding it; otherwise, even a wine cup will come with a price you can't bear. Second, this place is called Dream City, and it can fulfill all your wishes, but you have to exchange it for cultivation points. However, for those who are greedy, they may never leave here since everything is merely a dream. So I advise you to focus on your cultivation and then leave. Third, absolutely do not go to the forbidden areas. These are the main points; if you have any questions, just ask your two teammates." Elder Qian spoke seriously, putting away the tone he had at the beginning, which wasn't too unpleasant.
"Then why didn't you mention these things at the start?"
"I find it troublesome. Besides, it's better if new Students have more things they don't understand; that's when I can charge them later, hehehe." Anyone who comes here has some background; once you break the rules, the consequences can be severe. However, if your family is willing to offer benefits, that's another story. Generally speaking, new Students always have to pay some experience fees, right? Elder Qian walked away with his sly laughter; he truly was a money-loving old man. But then again, no matter where you are, money is essential. Thankfully, Grandpa Ronda arranged things for me.
"Alright, Xi Meng, let's leave it at that for today. In a bit, I'll take you around to see the place; we’ll go to 'Illusion Realm' for cultivation together tomorrow," Silver Moon said.
"Okay, what about Wild Ghost Senior?"
"Oh him? He can't stop; he'll probably head to the Dueling Arena. That's a great place for cultivation." With that said, he left with an elegant smile on his lips.
And so began my long journey in Dream City.
