“Xi Meng, Xi Meng, wake up...” 0

It was my mother's voice, so warm. She kept calling my name, had she come to pick me up? “Mom, Mom.” I gently responded, fearing this was a dream and that the voice would fade away. A glimmer of light appeared as I opened my eyes, and in my daze, I really saw my mother. 0

“Great, you’re awake, Xi Meng.” The voice was still so soft; I blinked and realized it was Mentor Nian. A fleeting sense of disappointment washed over me; it seemed I still missed home. 0

I sat up and looked at Nian gratefully, saying, “Thank you for taking care of me for so long.” 0

Nian shook her head, her expression starting to turn serious. “You can’t be so reckless in the future. If something had gone wrong this time, have you thought about the consequences?” 0

“I’m sorry, I just wanted to be brave once.” I lowered my head, feeling truly aggrieved. 0

“Sigh, you need to understand what true bravery is; what you did was Reckless. You didn’t let us down; the ones you really let down are your family and the adult who brought you here.” Nian gently patted my shoulder in a comforting manner. 0

“Do you miss home?” Nian asked. It must have been because I mistakenly called her 'Mom' earlier. I nodded. 0

“When I first arrived, I missed home a lot too, but now I've almost forgotten what home feels like,” she said with a chuckle. Confused, I looked up; this was the first time I saw a sad expression on Nian’s face. Did she not have a home anymore? 0

“Where is your home?” 0

“Actually, I am also a Dream Soul Master.” Her tone was filled with a sense of weariness. 0

“Oh my, you’re also a Dream Soul Master, that’s impossible.” According to what the captor said, once you reached a certain level, you could go back. Was that level either to become a Supreme Lord or to die of old age? 0

“Stop overthinking it; I chose to stay voluntarily.” Seeing my conflicted expression, Nian couldn’t help but laugh. 0

“Ah, how is that possible? This place is nothing compared to the human world.” That only left me more confused. 0

"Let me tell you about my past. Would you like to hear it?" Nian looked at me with a gentle expression again. 0

"Of course, I would." I was curious about what made her willing to stay in this dark world. 0

"You know, Xi Meng, not every family has a powerful guardian, just like the adult who brought you here; he is your teacher, right? But most of the Dream Soul Masters' teachers are human, so when we come here, we can only rely on ourselves. We have no backing and certainly wouldn't come to this academy." 0

Nian smiled at me and continued, "You are really lucky. I remember when I went to a public academy. The children there might not have as much as those here, but they worked very hard. I felt out of place there, with no friends and nothing at all. But the one lucky thing for me was meeting him. He was a Male Ghost who had left his family to wander around. Later, he came to our place as a mentor. He saw right away that I wasn't a ghost; he was very strong and took good care of me. He would teach me different things one-on-one, and he covered all my living expenses. He was a knowledgeable and elegant ghost. Anyone who encounters such a unique warmth here wouldn't let go of it, right? I really liked him." 0

"What happened next? Did you tell him?" 0

"Don't rush me; let me finish." Nian looked at me with amusement but then her expression turned regretful. "Of course, I told him. He was shocked at first and then laughed, saying that I was still young and didn't understand what liking someone meant. But I firmly told him that I was serious and could even stay behind. He didn't say anything and just turned to leave. The next day he was gone, leaving me a letter saying he was going to the Wasteland to participate in a war and that I shouldn't blame myself for his departure. He also said he would tell me the answer when he returned. If I had known he wouldn't come back, I would never have confessed to him. Although he said it wasn't my fault, I understood that our identities destined us not to be together; sooner or later, I would have to go to the human world. However, he didn't know that I would stay here for him." 0

"Maybe he really liked you but was afraid you'd abandon your original world because of him," I said comfortingly. 0

"Forget it; he has disappeared with that war. It’s useless to say anything now." 0

"War? Will there be wars here too?" 0

"Silly child, war is everywhere. As long as there is life, war will never disappear, no matter where it is. You know, he said the happiest thing in his life was being able to teach students; that was his greatest ideal. So he traveled to many places and attended many academies." 0

"So your reason for staying is also because of him." 0

"Yes, I want to continue fulfilling his ideal, so I stayed. I've been to many places and finally chose to remain here because you came. At least I need to guide you as my Student before I leave." 0

"Mentor." I hugged her; she truly was a kind person. 0

"If you don't mind, just call me sister. Unfortunately, I've long forgotten my name in the human world." 0

"Then when we are together, I will call you Sister Nian, okay?" 0

"Sure." 0

Suddenly, I remembered something. Back in the human realm, I had helped a female ghost find her deceased son. So if I used Hell's Eye here, would I be able to find Nian's mentor as well? 0

"What's wrong? What are you thinking about?" Nian asked as she looked at me in a daze. 0

"Sister Nian, if I could let you see him again, would you want that?" 0

"What? You really can?" Nian's eyes widened as she looked at me, disbelief written all over her face. 0

"Actually, I'm not too sure..." After I told her about what happened in the human realm, Nian fell into deep thought. 0

"In that case, your power will be exposed. There will definitely be many strong individuals who discover your true identity, which is very dangerous," Nian said with some disappointment. 0

"How about I take you to a place where a powerful being can set up a barrier to protect you?" Nian suggested. 0

"But where should we go?" I was at a loss. 0

"Have you forgotten about your Grandpa Ronda? He is a Supreme Lord level powerhouse. And the person I'm talking about is Lord Rhonda's son, Lang Chen." 0

"That sounds great! Let's go." 0

"There's no rush. You've waited this long; right now, your main focus should still be on cultivating and recovering your body in preparation for the upcoming inter-academy competition. Plus, I need to discuss this matter with Lord Rhonda." 0

"Okay, I'll listen to you, Sister. But there's one question." I looked at Nian with some difficulty. 0

"What is it?" 0

"It's just that I call you Grandpa Ronda, and you call me sister. Since you like Ronda's son, what should I call him then?" After saying this, I couldn't help but laugh. 0

Nian laughed too. She waved her hand and said, "It's fine, we don't care about these rules here. Since there's no blood relation, close relatives can be together. Do as you please. I'm leaving now, so take care of yourself." 0

"Okay, goodbye, sister." I said as I watched Nian's figure fade away. 0

"By the way, I almost forgot." Nian walked back to me, and I looked at her in confusion. 0

"This sister title isn't for nothing. I'm giving you a gift, just as a meeting present." She smiled at me, then recited a spell, and a black book appeared in her hand. 0

"Don't refuse it. This book was given to me by Lang Chen. I have too many things on my mind to practice it properly, and this book has a heavy Killing Intent. Those with weak willpower can easily be devoured by it. You have Pure Sound, so this book is perfect for you. Even in the underworld, few dare to try it. If you feel something is off, just stop; don't push yourself too hard. Be very cautious of its devouring power. However, if you succeed in practicing it, it means you've already become a strong person, and it will definitely help you a lot." 0

"Then I'll accept it. Thank you, sister." I reached out and took the book. 0

"I'm leaving now. I'll come back to see you when I have time." 0

After Nian left, I quickly set the book down because the moment I took hold of it, I clearly felt a chilling aura of death emanating from it—much colder than the Killing Intent from wild ghosts. But Nian didn't react earlier; what was going on? 0

I looked down at the book with the blood-red words "Dark Song" that stimulated my senses. It seemed this book would be very useful to me. 0
