"Bang—"
The sudden loud noise shattered the window that had just been repaired yesterday into pieces once again.
Before the window broke, Chuze had already sensed a strong wave of anger, so his first reaction was to stand in front of General Zhang. In an instant, an invisible Barrier rose up, blocking the flying shards of glass and protecting them from harm.
He saw the figure of the newcomer; although expressionless, they quietly looked through their glasses toward Liu You'er. He noticed her eyes were filled with intense interest, and there was a hint of satisfaction from a successful revenge. The corners of her mouth involuntarily lifted for a moment before returning to normal, unnoticed by anyone.
"Liu You'er, you..."
Xuan Mo stared at the person in front of him, stunned. The living room was not as empty and cold as usual.
General Zhang observed his expression; the shock on his face flickered and disappeared. He cleared his throat and regained his composure, looking at Liu You'er with a questioning gaze.
He remembered the little girl from the Liu Family; she didn't seem to have this hidden malice in her smile before, especially not in the apocalypse...
He glanced up and down at Liu You'er's white hair and thought about his troublesome Zhao Ling, who used to love dyeing her hair strange colors before the end of days. He couldn't help but shake his head internally, truly baffled by their sense of aesthetics.
If he hadn't seen the information indicating that this disheveled Xuan Mo was quite powerful (actually only wearing a pair of inner pants), he might have really considered throwing him out the door.
Seeing everyone's attention focused on her, Liu You'er instantly adopted a shy demeanor, her face slightly flushed as she angrily said, "What are you doing looking like that! Get back inside!"
Xuan Mo replied, "You..."
He silently took a deep breath, trying to suppress his anger while repeatedly telling himself, "I need Liu You'er's help to save Ruru, to save Ruru..." After mentally reciting it several times, he finally flashed a charming smile and returned to his usual self before quickly walking toward the room.
As soon as they were about to enter, Liu You'er apologetically said, "My bodyguard isn't very bright and tends to sleepwalk, so this kind of situation happens often. It's no big deal..."
"Bang!"
The door was slammed shut. Xuan Mo leaned against the wall, her chest heaving violently, while Liu You'er perked up at the sound, her smile becoming even brighter. The remaining two were sharp enough to realize that Liu You'er’s expression indicated a deeper connection to the situation, but they chose not to say much.
"You injured Ling'er?"
Liu You'er raised an eyebrow at General Zhang's serious tone. Despite the heavy pressure of authority emanating from him, it did not affect her at all. She maintained her smile and calmly replied, "It's normal to get a few minor injuries during sparring. I heard she's fine, and besides~~~"
She elongated her tone and subtly observed General Zhang's expression as she continued lightly, "I heard she's one of the Five Great Generals, so when she came to challenge me, I accepted. Who would have thought that now~ heh heh, coming to find the winner after losing is a bit inappropriate, right~?"
"Heh~"
General Zhang listened to Liu You'er’s remarks and looked at her sternly for a moment before breaking into a smile.
Children growing up are no longer amusing; when they were younger, they would admit their mistakes. Now with just a few words, she not only downplayed the incident but also mocked the Five Great Generals for being overrated. The final remark about "coming to find the winner after losing" would paint him as unreasonable if he decided to punish Liu You'er.
If such words got out, it would likely cause considerable difficulties for General Zhang in unifying other bases under B City Base.
General Zhang walked up to Liu You'er and firmly patted her shoulder.
"In another month, it will be meeting time. You should rest well during this period. If you need anything, find this kid." With that, he stood tall and walked out, Chuze following closely behind.
"This kid?!"
Liu You'er glanced at Chuze, only to find that he seemed to have eyes on the back of his head, immediately turning around, which caught her off guard. Their gazes met briefly before they both calmly looked away.
She furrowed her brows, remaining silent. Once General Zhang and Chuze had walked far enough away, she took a look at her shoulder that had been patted and sensed her body, finding no abnormalities before stepping toward the door.
She had to be cautious in everything now; there was no room for carelessness. However, the last encounter with Chuze had been strange.
Although Chuze had somehow guessed that she was investigating the incident of her earlier capture, he did not obstruct her. Instead, he directly offered to tell her what had happened. But human hearts are hard to read; how could she trust someone she had just met, even if that person was someone her father wanted her to find?
Her brows knitted in suspicion as countless thoughts flashed through her mind. Then she saw him stand up and walk toward her, his black pupils swirling like a vortex that captivated her attention. He then raised his hand and naturally smoothed out the wrinkles on her forehead.
His movement was so natural, as if it were meant to be, that Liu You'er momentarily forgot to draw the Electric Blade in her hand.
By the time she regained her senses, Chuze had already returned to his original position, calmly speaking to her, making her believe that everything that had just happened was an illusion. Only the lingering warmth between her brows reminded her that it had all truly occurred.
"Hey! Where did you go again?!"
"Huh?"
Liu You'er turned around and mockingly said, "Did you get your clothes on? Next time you sleepwalk, don’t run off because I won’t stop you~"
"You!"
Xuan Mo's clothes and hair were tousled by the wind, his eyes revealing a predatory gaze. But suddenly, as if he remembered something, his expression shifted back to its previous flamboyant demeanor as he said with a charming smirk, "Forget it; consider this my repayment~"
Upon hearing this, Liu You'er raised an eyebrow in confusion, shot him a bewildered glance, and walked out while muttering two words.
"Neurotic!"
Wang Kuxie didn't know what was wrong with him. For the past few days, he had been patrolling the street near Liu You'er's house uncontrollably, driving the soldiers on that street crazy. They all wanted to change shifts, but little did they know that his every move was already under Liu You'er's control.
"Really infatuated~ Strange."
Liu You'er simply couldn't understand why Wang Luojie was so obsessed with her. She felt a bit overwhelmed by the attention! It was normal for a selfish man to love someone from afar more than anyone else, but Wang Luojie was different; he was disgusting! He clearly loved himself more but pretended to love others more, causing trouble for them.
Unfortunately, Liu You'er was the one being troubled, so she was quite annoyed! At that moment, shouts and curses came from a distance. A group of people was causing a ruckus in front of a shop run by an elderly woman, making quite a scene.
They were taking advantage of their strength, not only lowering prices but also trying to hit the old woman.
Wang Luojie frowned and walked toward them.
"Ah~ Opportunity has come~"
"Swish~"
A faint sound echoed as something pierced through the air and struck the face of the burly man standing at the front. His head snapped to the side, and one of his teeth shattered. Furious, he began cursing wildly.
"Who the hell ambushed me? Step out here!"
