"Thud, thud."
The sound of heavy objects hitting the ground echoed as the two Ability users, barely a meter tall, collapsed together. Their ankles were ensnared by a vine covered in fine barbs, deep green with a hint of blood red, which was dragging them backward.
Although they were somewhat panicked, their survival until now indicated they were not slow to react.
One had Ice Ability, and the other had Earth Elemental Ability. Blue ice and gray cement instantly transformed into sharp blades, fiercely attacking the vine that was about five centimeters in diameter.
"Clang."
The sound of metal clashing startled them, and they realized that beneath the surface of the vine was a layer of what appeared to be metal, completely impervious to their attacks.
"Ugh, ugh—"
The sound of wind howling filled the air. Although the plant was unharmed, it seemed to sense pain; the entire stalk began to sway, hastening the retraction of its vine.
The two Ability users turned pale, their fingers digging deep into the cement ground, reaching two centimeters down. Their nails broke, leaving ten streaks of blood on the surface as they refused to let go.
Yet even as they exhausted all their strength, they could not change the fact that they were getting closer and closer to the Carnivorous Plant.
"Help! Help!"
Seeing no hope for themselves, they could only place their hopes on Liu You'er and Xiang Chuyun nearby.
"You ignore Buddy when he's in danger; how can I trust you?"
"As far as I know, they need to be alive for you to unleash your powers—"
Their tone resembled casual conversation in a café, relaxed and carefree, completely oblivious to the psychological trauma experienced by the two listeners.
"Ahhh!"
The Ice Elementalist was flung upward by the vine as if being tossed like peanuts we usually eat, falling straight into the Big Mouth filled with blood and shredded flesh.
Although his lower body had been crushed, his upper body continued to struggle on the petals, screaming incessantly, until he eventually disappeared from everyone's sight.
The Earth Elementalist watched the fate of the Ice Elementalist, his face pale and a fierce light flashing in his eyes.
The vines once again followed the old routine and threw upward, but only half of a calf entered its Big Mouth.
The Ability user’s face was covered in beads of sweat, his left leg remained intact, but the lower part had turned into cement mixed with blood.
He stumbled forward, collapsing to his knees in front of Liu You'er, tearing a sleeve from his clothing to blindfold himself.
"I won't say anything, I won't see anything, I just beg you to save me! Save my life!"
He was not foolish, and when faced with the threat of death from an Ant Face, there were only two responses: complete collapse or extreme calmness. He was clearly the latter.
From their earlier conversation, it was evident that Liu You'er did not care about their lives, while Xiang Chuyun was pleading for cooperation.
The statement "They must be alive for you to unleash your power" further indicated that Liu You'er had some secret that he could not know.
However, Liu You'er had taken Xiang Chuyun away earlier; with her indifferent nature towards witnessing someone being eaten alive, she would never have done so otherwise.
Based on his understanding, it could only be because Xiang Chuyun had spoken up for her previously.
Could he then assume that this woman, despite her coldness, was not bloodthirsty? If he did not pose a threat, she might very well help him as long as she could ensure her own safety!
Of course, all of this was speculation; if he guessed even a little wrong...
Suddenly, he heard a rustle. Before he could dodge, another vine ensnared him. This time, he could only escape by severing himself in half.
Since he couldn't see, the sensation of blood being drawn by those barbs felt even more intense. Yet even so, he did not remove the cloth covering his eyes.
The wind howled past his ears, and he felt himself being thrown into the air, then quickly descending, about to make close contact with that Big Mouth.
The large flower opened its mouth, waited for a moment, and when it realized the imagined delicacy was not arriving, it curiously smacked its lips.
Liu You'er looked at the man in her arms and raised an eyebrow.
"You really enjoy being princess-carried. How much longer do you want to stay like this?"
The Ability user had initially thought he was doomed, but now that he knew he was saved, he almost wanted to cry.
Although Liu You'er let go of him after speaking, allowing his backside to make intimate contact with the hard ground, he was still immensely grateful.
"I-I will be yours from now on, willing to work like a horse or an ox, whatever you command!"
However, his firm declaration did not receive a response.
"She went to deal with that flower."
"…"
Upon hearing Xiang Chuyun's lazy voice, the Ability user fell silent.
Crack!
The once sturdy vines were effortlessly sliced in two by Liu You'er's seemingly casual movement with the Electric Blade. The section of vine that fell to the ground twitched a couple of times before rapidly wilting at a visible speed.
Buzz~
The flower emitted a sound resembling a scream that pierced the eardrums, causing the Ability user to clutch his head in pain as blood trickled from his ears.
Xiang Chuyun furrowed his brow but remained motionless; the main reason was not because he was powerful, but because this scheming boy was wearing earplugs.
Liu You'er felt a bit of pain in her eardrum, but it didn't have much effect overall.
The Carnivorous Plant was thoroughly enraged after being harmed, and suddenly, dozens of vines emerged from the ground, attacking Liu You'er with incredible speed. Hundreds of illusory figures formed an impenetrable net around Liu You'er, creating a dazzling spectacle that made onlookers break into a cold sweat for the person trapped within.
However, the person in question showed no signs of panic. Her gaze was as calm as water, weaving through the vines like a swimming fish. Her body transformed into multiple phantoms, making it impossible to discern her true form, which sparked a glimmer of light in Xiang Chuyun's perpetually drowsy eyes.
With each movement she made, one by one, the severed vines fell to the ground, twitching twice before wilting away. She had originally been over twenty meters away from the Carnivorous Plant, but now she was only five meters away. It was believed that in no time, she would be able to sever its roots.
Liu You'er had not made any deals with Xiang Chuyun. Although this person appeared lazy, they shared a similar aura. She concealed her fangs and waited for an opportunity to act.
Though unsure of his intentions, she felt it best to avoid any association with him; getting entangled in troublesome matters would only lead to frustration.
It was just a plant; as long as its roots were severed, it wouldn't be able to leap around anymore.
However, just as she was less than a meter away from the roots, a white gas shot out from beneath them. Although she managed to dodge in time, she still caught a whiff and hurriedly teleported a hundred meters away.
What if this gas could induce hallucinations? Being near it could lead to her demise without her even realizing it.
Yet, her body showed no signs of discomfort, which was somewhat strange. Meanwhile, the flower took advantage of Liu You'er's retreat and relentlessly attacked the surrounding structures, devouring all the Zombies inside. The air was filled with a putrid stench.
Liu You'er calmed herself as an idea formed in her mind.
Could it be that I have fallen into this flower's trap?!
