In the Previous Life, when Rek arrived at Dark Space, the Sanctuary Military Base was under a level one alert of the War Fortress, unlike now, where people could move around freely. 0

He had just gotten off the Maglev Train and was taken to a Metal House. No one treated his motion sickness; at that time, the doctors in Dark Space were overwhelmed and couldn't even attend to the Injured. 0

Rek remembered being dazed, lying on a Metal Bed for about an hour before soldiers pulled him into a field Hover Transport Vehicle. For the next few months, he was busy providing medical assistance while fighting against Alien Species in a Mobile Fortress. 0

“Moon Goddess, I will take you to visit someone in the Sanctuary Fortress. Don't look at me like that; we are visiting an old man to buy something special from him, something good that can't be found outside.” Rek recalled an item that circulated in the Sanctuary Military Fortress during his Previous Life. Considering the time, that item hadn't been purchased yet. 0

Leading Moon Goddess, Rek turned several corners in the Metal Passage and arrived at a small market made of heavy metal plates. This market resembled a Pedestrian Street from the Main Plane of Earth. The shops lining the street included restaurants, taverns, and small clothing stores, while other shops dealt in weapons and some living "supplies" not provided to soldiers by the military. 0

“These little shops are built strangely; why are they all made of such heavy metal plates?” Moon Goddess asked curiously. 0

“The operational form of the Sanctuary Base can be transformed. The Metal Shacks here are movable. Currently, the Sanctuary Base is in a primary combat readiness state. In case of a major battle, it can switch to the form of a War Fortress or an Ultimate Sanctuary Radiance Ship through the Control Room,” Rek explained casually. 0

Beside him, Moon Goddess nodded, looking confused as if she didn't understand. 0

The internal establishment of a small Pedestrian Street in the Sanctum was meant to alleviate the mental pressure on soldiers in Dark Space. Initially, when the Star Alliance first discovered the entrance to Dark Space, there was no such Pedestrian Street. At that time, many soldiers experienced mental breakdowns, depression, or even suicide. Over time, the number of soldiers with psychological issues increased significantly, affecting the normal operation of the military. 0

To address these mental health issues among soldiers, the Star Alliance Military first invited numerous psychological experts from the Main Plane of Earth for analysis and research. They prescribed many medications and treatment plans without any noticeable effect. Some experts suggested that it was due to the unique radiation environment of Dark Space. 0

Later, a retired director from a psychiatric hospital offered a suggestion: to establish a pedestrian street similar to those on the Main Plane of Earth, along with various small shops and some adult entertainment facilities within the Sanctuary Base. 0

After this plan was trialed, the incidence rate of mental illnesses among soldiers in the Star Alliance Military significantly decreased. The number of shops on the Pedestrian Street grew from just five or six at first to several dozen now. 0

Rek walked with the Moon Goddess along the Pedestrian Street and arrived under a metal sign that read Old Wang's Grocery Store. 0

Rek pulled the Moon Goddess inside. 0

"It doesn't seem much different, just a store selling Cold Weapons and small arms," the Moon Goddess said softly. 0

An old man with a red nose was sitting at the Counter, drinking from a small flask, his face flushed. 0

"Old Wang, I want to buy some things from you! Some specialties from Dark Space. Do you have anything unusual among the Dark Space items you've received from soldiers recently?" Rek asked after scanning the items displayed on the Counter and addressing the drunken old man. 0

"Young man, you've come to the right place at my Old Wang's Grocery Store. Among the entire Pedestrian Street, the things I sell are unique, all tested and purified by the Star Alliance Military's detectors, ensuring that they carry not a trace of radiation or viruses," the old man said confidently after taking a swig of his drink. 0

"My friend likes flowers. Do you have any plants or flowers from Dark Space?" Rek tried to ask. 0

"Flowers! In this cursed environment, what normal plants can grow! No flowers! You must be new recruits just arrived in Dark Space, haven't been outside the base's protective shield yet. Once you go outside, you'll understand," the old man replied after thinking for a moment. 0

"Think again; seeds of flowers would work too!" 0

"Speaking of seeds, I did manage to collect a seed from an unknown plant. However, it looks like it's already dead; even the Star Alliance's life detector couldn't find any energy left in it. It's just a dead seed, quite hard and about the size of a soybean. Are you sure you want it? I'm not trying to scam you, young man. The military has strict regulations: any seeds or organisms from Dark Space, whether alive or dead, cannot be brought back to Main Space Earth. If you buy it, it won't pass through Star Alliance Military's security checks; if caught sneaking it in, it's a serious crime," the old man continued sipping his drink. 0

"A dead seed is fine. As you can see, we've just arrived in Dark Space and will be here for nearly a year before we can return. Buying your dead seed is just for fun," Rek said. 0

"Although this seed is dead, it is a plant from Dark Space. Plants from Dark Space are rare, and you, Price, just arrived here. You probably can't afford it before receiving your military pay, and you likely don't have anything valuable from Dark Space to trade," the old man said disdainfully as he glanced at Rek and continued drinking his alcohol. 0

"I have something good from the Main Plane to trade. How about I offer you this?" Rek pulled out two small metal bottles of low-grade liquor, Mule in a Bottle, from his backpack. This type of alcohol could be found in any noodle shop in Main Space, but even higher-end restaurants didn't sell it. 0

"Mule in a Bottle, I haven't had this hometown liquor in many years. Back when I was in the Main Plane, I often drank two bottles a day. I never expected that after coming to the Dark Dimension, I wouldn't be able to find it." 0

"Alright, I'll accept your trade. You've gotten lucky this time," the old man quickly snatched the two small bottles from Rek's hands. 0

"Do you have anything else? I can trade other items or money!" the old man asked Rek. 0

"I don't have anything else; just these two bottles. I figured I'd give them to you since I see you enjoy drinking," Rek replied casually. 0

The old man began rummaging through a box behind his counter and soon found a yellow seed the size of a bean, which he handed to Rek. 0

Rek took it in his hand; the yellow seed was heavy. When he squeezed it, he realized its hardness seemed tougher than half of the metals. 0

"Old Wang, do you have any plant seeds? I'll trade you some alcohol!" Suddenly, a little girl's voice came from outside. 0

A blonde girl dressed in a Star Alliance Super Soldier Academy uniform rushed in, looking around ten years old, holding a bottle of Mule in a Bottle liquor. 0

Rek showed an expression of surprise upon seeing the little girl. 0
