Rek and Alice quickly devoured the Dark Golden Ants in the cave, leaving no trace, even consuming the Dark Gold Ant Corpse next to the unconscious Class One Homeroom Teacher Orland at the entrance. All the Dark Gold Ant Corpses outside the cave were completely consumed by the two.
Looking at the unconscious Orland, who had lost an arm, Alice spoke up, "Are you planning to kill him? This Orland was hostile towards you before."
After thinking for a moment, Rek replied, "Let's keep him alive. It will take at least half a semester for him to fully recover from these injuries. By then, he should pose no threat to me."
Although they decided not to kill Orland, neither Rek nor Alice paid any attention to his injuries, allowing his wounds to continue bleeding.
A few minutes later, Maya, holding a longsword and leading over ten military Genetic Mecha Warriors, arrived at the cave. Accompanying them were three military doctors.
"Rek, Alice!" Maya called out, relieved to see her two students standing unharmed in the cave.
"Master Muya," Alice sweetly called out.
"What are you doing in the cave? What happened here?" Maya asked.
"Rek and I were patrolling inside when the Excavator unearthed a Dark Gold Ant Nest. However, the newly awakened Dark Gold Ant Queen was weak, and we managed to eliminate her together," Alice explained.
She did not mention that she had controlled the Excavator to dig out the Dark Gold Ant Nest. The miners she had knocked unconscious earlier had been eaten by the Dark Golden Ants, and even more than half of the Excavator had been gnawed away.
Hearing that Alice had already admitted it, Rek nodded in agreement.
"Ah! This is Orland! Quick, doctors, come over and treat this injured person; he is my colleague," Maya said, somewhat suspicious of Alice and Rek's words.
"Maya continued to ask, 'How come you two are fine when even the Class One Homeroom Teacher is severely injured and unconscious?'"
Meanwhile, three doctors began administering a life-saving IV to the unconscious Orland. After a quick bandaging of his wounds, they placed him on a makeshift stretcher and started carrying him out of the cave.
"Alice said, 'Class One Homeroom Teacher Orland managed to hold off some powerful Dark Gold Ant Guardians. Rek and I didn't have much of a role; we just killed the Dark Gold Ant Queen, who was particularly weak right after waking up.'"
"What about the Dark Gold Ant Queen? And those Dark Gold Ant Corpses? These bodies have significant research value; arrange for them to be sent back to the Super Soldier Academy later," Maya said.
"Rek casually replied, 'Alice and I activated our Genetic Mechs to devour them. Isn't there a rule in the Star Alliance Military that allows us to use our Genetic Mechs to consume Alien Species we've personally defeated?'"
"Alright, good. Let's go," Maya said somewhat exasperatedly. Although there were still some suspicious aspects of the situation, at least it seemed certain that the Alien Species' Dark Gold Ant Queen was dead. The major crisis had been averted, and Maya wasn't prepared to delve deeper into the details.
Rek and Alice followed Maya back to the Temporary Base.
The Temporary Base was still somewhat injured and was being attended to by medical personnel.
Students from the Super Soldier Academy's Sophomore class were also injured during the Dark Gold Ant Swarm's attack on the Temporary Base.
Rek and Alice encountered the main nest of Dark Golden Ants in the underground cave, along with numerous smaller Dark Golden Ants scattered throughout the mountain. Those smaller ants had also awakened along with their queen and attacked the Temporary Base, resulting in injuries among some guards and students due to their overwhelming numbers.
The medical facilities at this Temporary Base were significantly inferior compared to those at the Super Soldier Academy's Fortress.
The Hover Transport Vehicle that had previously brought teachers and students was now loaded with dozens of injured individuals, heading back to the Super Soldier Academy for emergency treatment.
Maya stayed with Rek and Alice at this Temporary Base for another two days to assist with defense.
The Dark Golden Ant Variant appeared, posing a significant threat to the stationed troops and miners, although the casualties were minimal.
However, the military conducted investigations for two consecutive days and confirmed that there were no Alien Species in the underground mine before sending miners to extract resources. Each mining team was accompanied by military soldiers for protection.
On the third day, Maya, along with Rek and Alice, left the mine's Temporary Base with a group of Sophomore Students from the Super Soldier Academy, preparing to return to the academy.
During their farewell, the military officer in charge of the mine expressed his gratitude to Maya privately and politely.
"Thanks to your Academy Fortress teachers and your two little heroes from your class, they swiftly eliminated the Alien Maternal Body. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable. I will report this achievement accurately to the Star Alliance Military at Sanctuary Headquarters," said the Overall Commander of the mine's Temporary Base to Maya.
Maya felt quite honored upon hearing this.
"Everything is for the Star Alliance and for humanity's future! As long as we are filled with hope, darkness is only temporary, and light is just ahead," Maya declared passionately. Over the past few days, she had secretly broadcasted the Savior's Declaration during her breaks, allowing her to effortlessly recite this powerful statement.
"I didn't expect that a teacher from your Academy Fortress would have such high awareness. Impressive!" The Overall Commander of the Temporary Base was momentarily stunned by Maya's words before finally managing to respond.
Maya, along with Rek and Alice, boarded the Hover Transport Vehicle once again.
The Transport Vehicle activated and headed towards the Super Soldier Academy.
After several hours of traveling through harsh sandy terrain, the Transport Vehicle returned to the Fortress of the Super Soldier Academy.
"You all get half a day off. Tomorrow morning, come to our Special Class Two independent classroom for formal classes," Maya told Rek and Alice, allowing the two students to leave first.
Maya then went to the office of the Yin Yang Principal at the Super Soldier Academy, ready to report on the situation regarding the joint defense mission at the mine.
After all, during this mission, they encountered the Dark Gold Ant Swarm, and Class One Homeroom Teacher Orland was severely injured, which had already caused a small stir within the academy.
Although Maya had already explained the situation to the Yin Yang Principal via communicator earlier, as the Special Teacher for this mission, she needed to report in person after returning.
Rek and Alice jumped down from the Hover Transport Vehicle.
As soon as Rek got off the vehicle, he noticed several missed calls on his Wrist Communicator. Previously, outside the Academy Fortress, he couldn't connect to any communications within the ordinary campus.
Looking at the names of the callers, he saw that they were all from Moon Goddess, who had sent him seven or eight messages.
"Rek, are you safe?"
"I heard you encountered Alien Species; you weren't hurt, right?"
"A lot of Injured have been sent in these past few days; thankfully, you weren't among them!"
"I heard from a Sophomore Injured that you and Alice killed the Alien Maternal Body. You are heroes; I'm so glad you're not hurt."
"Come find me as soon as you get back!"
