Ignoring the dissatisfaction of the paparazzi behind her, Xinran stepped forward, intending to leave. As she looked up, she was startled to see a luxurious Ferrari slowly approaching the entrance of the set, causing her to stop in her tracks, frozen in place.
"Sister Xinran, what's wrong?" Wu Jie asked in confusion upon noticing Xinran had halted.
"Wu Jie, I think we can't go out..." She recognized the car that was coming; it was the same one that picked her up on audition day, belonging to Dong Shan Zhong.
The car passed by Xinran and came to a slow stop. A man in black clothing sitting in the passenger seat got out first and walked to the back door, bending down respectfully to wait for the person inside to exit. Perhaps the spectacle was too astonishing or the man inside was too handsome; in any case, the paparazzi quieted down, their eyes fixed on the scene before them.
"Did you finish filming this morning?" The man wore a black trench coat, and his iron-gray trousers accentuated his already long legs. His black Gucci shoes gleamed brightly in the sunlight.
"Not yet; there was a bit of an issue. We'll shoot again this afternoon!" The man's breath lingered around Xinran's nose, and under his deep black gaze, she nearly lost her senses, responding dazedly.
"Alright, then let's go have lunch." With that, the man wrapped his arm around Xinran's shoulders and led her away.
"Wait... wait a minute!" Xinran suddenly snapped back to reality and glanced at the nearby paparazzi. She thought to herself that it was bad; their intimate actions had already caught the attention of the paparazzi. How would they write about her? Her boyfriend was still inside filming, and here she was openly cheating outside the set. She might become a public target as a promiscuous woman.
"What's wrong?" Dong Shan Zhong knew what Xinran was concerned about. However, this was also why he chose to come to the set at this time; he wanted the paparazzi to capture their intimacy. Ideally, they would write all sorts of things about it so that Shaoyang might choose to break up with Xinran for the sake of his reputation. That way, his goal would be achieved. However, since Shaoyang had deliberately informed him that he would be filming passionate scenes with Xinran today, he could tell that Shaoyang wanted to play a bigger game. "I-I already promised my assistant I'd go have lunch; I won't trouble you!" She tightly grasped Wu Jie's hand; he was her only lifeline at that moment.
"Aoki, please arrange lunch for my assistant," he said before embracing Xinran again and whispering in her ear, "It's just lunch with me; I'm not going to eat you. What are you really afraid of?"
"You know the paparazzi are watching, yet you are so close to me. How can I say that I am still Augus's girlfriend? My reputation is surely beyond repair this time..." Xinran gazed at Dong Shan Zhong's face and sighed softly.
"Don't worry, they won't dare to write anything outrageous..." After saying this, Dong Shan Zhong called over Aoki and whispered a few instructions in his ear.
His intention was to let the paparazzi exaggerate the situation; after all, they could only write about Summer and would never uncover any of his personal information, leaving him untouched. However, upon hearing her sigh, he suddenly didn't want to put her in a difficult position. After all, she was a woman, and perhaps she couldn't bear being labeled as a cheater or promiscuous. Moreover, the words from the paparazzi would be far worse than that.
"What did you tell him?"
"You can rest assured. I am just your admirer; those paparazzi only dare to write that. You are still Augus's girlfriend and have not fallen for anyone else. Now, can you accompany me for a meal?" A faint smile appeared on Dong Shan Zhong's lips as he asked.
"But I have to shoot this afternoon; I may not have much time..."
"I won't keep you for long because I need to visit the set this afternoon to see you filming!" He had agreed with Shaoyang's intention; he informed him just so he could watch the filming of this passionate scene.
"What? You want to watch us film?" Xinran's heart skipped a beat. This afternoon was supposed to be her reshoot of the passionate scene with Augus. Dong Shan Zhong chose the timing perfectly—neither too early nor too late, but right at this moment.
"What's wrong? Don't you want me to watch? I'm an investor in this production; I'm sure the director would love for me to supervise the filming."
"No, how could I possibly object?" Xinran steeled herself. Let him watch if he wants; if he sees the passionate scene being filmed and Augus gets involved, that's Augus's own doing. Who told him to insist on reshooting such scenes? He deserves it!
