“Xinran, are you nervous?” Jerry leaned against the makeup table, playing with a lipstick in his hand while watching the makeup assistant carefully style Xinran's hair, his eyes filled with admiration for her.
He had accompanied her through so many years, witnessing her career's lows and silences. He saw her tirelessly cheering herself on, yet still waiting for the day when her career would blossom. He felt heartbroken watching her navigate through the ordinary, stubbornly refusing to bow down, paying a price to achieve success!
With the appearance of Mu Shaosi, Xinran could finally attain success without exhausting herself. He never thought Xinran had changed; he knew she had given far more than she currently received, and there were still thorns continuously obstructing her path as others envied her progress. Jerry even thought that if only Mu Shaosi had appeared a bit earlier!
“I want to say I'm not nervous, but it's really a bit hard. After all, they have worked so hard to seize this opportunity; they won't stop until they push me into a corner!” She looked at herself in the mirror, her long wavy hair elegantly cascading over her shoulders. The bright red lipstick complemented her fair, luminous skin. She wore a short gown crafted by a specialist that Mu Shaosi had hired for her, which reached from her collarbone to her calves. The creamy white dress made her look as if she had stepped out of a fairy tale—so unreal!
“Don't worry! Hoshia has already taken care of everything; they won't make things difficult for you. Even if there are some clueless Paparazzi, Augus is right beside you; he won't let them trouble you!”
“Speaking of Hiya, what are you planning to do? Just stay there and let your relationship become more and more strained?” Xinran knew that Hiya had already arranged all the details for her and even prepared responses for any potential unexpected situations. So while she felt nervous about the upcoming press conference, she wasn't truly anxious. Instead, she was somewhat annoyed with Jerry's relaxed demeanor, thinking he was handling matters of the heart very poorly.
In fact, everything had already happened. On the day she went to Japan, she left early from the opening party the night before and did not see Jerry again. Later, he didn't join her in Japan, claiming he had urgent matters to attend to. It wasn't until Xinran returned home that she learned that night, a drunken Jerry accidentally had a one-night stand with Hiya, unexpectedly intertwining their lives in a chaotic manner.
Previously, to handle matters between her and Augus, she knew Jerry and Hiya had spoken, and it hadn't gone well. Given this incident and Hiya's strong personality, it was clear she wouldn't back down. Moreover, Jerry's intentions to reconcile didn't seem very apparent either, leading to a prolonged stalemate with no progress between them and even signs of further deterioration.
Xinran always believed that matters of the heart were not for outsiders to meddle in. Therefore, all she could do was nudge lazy Jerry into action; beyond that, there was nothing else she could do. Even though she thought that Hiya and Jerry were a match made in heaven, if those involved weren't willing to put in effort, what could she do?
“You saw it too; I gave her a choice; she refused it herself. What can I do?” Jerry rolled his eyes and shrugged helplessly.
“All I see is that you're not trying hard enough. Fan Jierui, as your friend, I'll say this: when you really lose it, you won't even have the chance to regret!” With that, Xinran stood up, walked to the door, then turned around and called out to the somewhat dazed Jerry: “The press conference is starting; aren't you going?”
"Let's go!" Jerry sighed lightly, following Xinran. He knew Xinran was right, but that stubborn woman Hoshia had to be willing to listen to him!
That night, they had both gotten drunk and ended up rolling around in bed together by accident. However, the next morning, it was her who insisted that they should go their separate ways. He felt wronged; he wanted to take responsibility, but the person involved wasn't giving him a chance!
