The airplane flew steadily through the air, but Xinran's heart was anything but calm. She repeatedly told herself not to overthink, that Mu Shaosi must be fine, yet she couldn't help but wonder if the injuries that prompted the three leaders of Cherry Blossom Hall to rush back were serious.
When the plane arrived at Narita Airport, Xinran grabbed Duan Ruyin and asked for the hospital address. Without paying them any more attention, she jumped into a taxi and rushed to the hospital. She still hadn't clarified her feelings to Mu Shaosi, and there were many things she hadn't said to him. He couldn't be in trouble; he couldn't leave her behind.
As she watched the scenery outside the taxi window blur by, Xinran suddenly felt a familiar sensation. The last time she hurried to Japan was also because she learned he was injured. Her connection to Japan was entirely tied to Mu Shaosi, and each time it was his injuries that brought her here. She didn't want to think about how serious his injuries might be; all she wanted was for him to be whole and safe.
The hospital was familiar territory for her; it was where she stayed when she was shot. It seemed this hospital belonged to Mu Shaosi's Cherry Blossom Hall. Xinran pulled her suitcase into the elevator, eager to see Mu Shaosi, even neglecting to properly stow her luggage.
The fifth floor was her destination. With heavy steps, Xinran exited the elevator and approached the patient room. Through the glass window, she saw him sleeping. Gently pushing open the door, she stepped closer to the bed. A wave of trepidation washed over her as she noticed the bandages on his head, the IV in his hand, and the bruises on his face. How serious were his injuries? In her mind, any injury to the head was never a good sign...
"Mu Shaosi, I'm back!" Xinran softly caressed Mu Shaosi's cheek. Seeing his tightly closed eyes up close stirred an inexplicable longing within her; she didn't want to leave again or drift away.
"Wife, am I dreaming?" After a moment, he slowly opened his eyes, his voice still hoarse.
"No, you're not dreaming. I'm really back! Mu Shaosi, tell me where you're hurt and how serious it is!" Xinran's eyes immediately reddened upon hearing his voice. This weak version of Mu Shaosi was someone she had never seen before; in her eyes, he had always been so strong, as if he could control everything.
Though she had been resisting him all along, what she truly wanted was still that version of him!
"Wife, I'm fine. Don't worry!" Mu Shaosi tried to muster a smile, but the injuries on his face seemed to distort it into something painful.
"Just tell me honestly; otherwise, I'll leave right now! You can't do anything about it in your current state!"
"Are you bullying the injured?" Mu Shaosi fixed his gaze on Xinran. If it weren't for this unexpected car accident, he would have already gone back to confront her. However, this accident brought her back to his side; could it be considered a blessing from heaven?
"Mu Shaosi, I warn you, I'm not someone you can easily brush off. I came back this time to demand an explanation from you. Your foolish subordinates created that farce that ruined my reputation, and you haven't given me an explanation yet, lying in a hospital bed. Do you think I'll let you off so easily?"
"Wife, I know lying in a hospital bed is my fault, but if you want children, you'll really have to wait until I recover. Although I also want to pounce on you right now!" Hearing Xinran's indignant words, Mu Shaosi spoke lightly, provoking her even more.
His hand, which was attached to an IV drip, firmly held onto Xinran's wrist, unwilling to let go.
"Let go, do you hear me?" Xinran huffed angrily but didn't dare to struggle.
"I won't let go. This time I won't release you. We've missed each other for too long; do you really want us to continue missing each other?"
Listening to Mu Shaosi's rare heartfelt words, Xinran managed a faint smile and tapped his forehead with her finger. Could she consider him the most insecure Mu Shaosi at this moment?
"Whether we missed each other or not, we need to wait until you're better to talk about it. Right now, I need to find your attending physician and go back to get some clean clothes for you. If you don't let go, how can I do these things?"
"Actually, even so, I don't want to let go!"
