Pei'er had only a fleeting acquaintance with the Dancer and couldn't even catch a whiff of her scent! In an instant, everyone's gaze was fixed on her, waiting for her response. 0

"Answer quickly! Didn't you say you had seen her? If you can't answer such a simple question, could it be that you are in cahoots with her? Trying to protect her?" Mo Xier's words were harsh, giving her no time to think! 0

"Yes! I smelled it! Just as the young lady said, it is the scent of peonies!" In a moment of desperation, Pei'er finally spoke up. 0

As soon as these words were uttered, the guests erupted in an uproar; she was lying! Meanwhile, a smile appeared on Mo Xier's face. 0

She reached out and patted Pe'er's shoulder, softly saying, "Very good!" After that, she turned and knelt before the Emperor, declaring loudly, "Your Majesty, the culprit has been caught; she is undoubtedly the Dancer who poisoned before!" 0

From Night Star's position, he could see the woman's profile illuminated by the warm yellow Candlelight. Mo Xier's face sparkled under the light. A slight smile crept onto her lips, and her confident demeanor truly captivated his attention. 0

"Miss! One can eat recklessly, but one should not speak carelessly! What proof do you have that I am that Dancer?" Hearing such a conclusion from her, Pe'er could no longer contain herself and looked quite anxious. 0

"Am I framing you then?" 0

"I only hope that you won't speak carelessly!" 0

"Hmph." She let out a light snort, filled with disdain in her words. "I have no grudge against you; why would I frame you? I want to ask you instead, why did you try to poison me? Who is really behind this?" 0

"I don't understand what you're talking about. I'm just a servant; how could I poison you?" Pe'er stubbornly refused to back down. 0

"Is that so? Then please explain why you said you've seen that Dancer. Why is it that others can't smell anything, yet you claim it's strong? Have you really seen her?" 0

Pe'er became flustered, her eyes darting around. Her panicked expression said it all, yet she still stubbornly retorted, "Then why do you suspect me? I am from the capital; I bear no resemblance to someone from the Rakshasa Kingdom!" 0

Upon hearing this, Mo Xier's smile grew wider. "None of us here has ever said that the Dancer is from the Rakshasa Kingdom. How do you know? 0

Did you not say that you couldn't see that person's face clearly in the dark? If you're so certain, could it be that you intended to deceive us from the start?" 0

Pe'er was nearly red with anger; it seemed that no amount of clever arguments would help her now! 0

Mo Xier casually turned away and said, "You might as well admit it; you are the one who poisoned my drink! Who would have thought I didn't drink it but instead poisoned Consort Jin's cat!" 0

Until this moment, Consort Jin, who had been sitting quietly beside them, finally understood the whole situation. 0

"Miss, everyone knows that this Dancer is from the Rakshasa Kingdom. I merely spoke casually. Even if I were the murderer you mentioned, how could I have switched between the capital and the people of the Rakshasa Kingdom?" 0

Originally flustered, Pei'er had calmed down significantly by this point. In Mo Xier's eyes, there was a sense of giving up and despair within her. 0

No longer keeping her head down, she raised her chin, her eyes glaring at her like a wolf, making Mo Xier feel the hatred emanating from deep within her. 0

"You are originally from the capital; naturally, you only need to pretend to be a Rakshasa. If the Emperor is willing, just give me any palace maid, and I can turn her into a Rakshasa!" 0

As soon as these words were spoken, not only did Pei'er panic, but everyone present gasped in astonishment. This woman could actually change someone's appearance? This was truly an extraordinary feat! 0

About half an hour later, Mo Xier entered the hall with a woman. The graceful figure used a fan to cover half of her face; anyone with keen eyes could tell she was a Rakshasa! However, this woman had never been seen before. 0

"Your Majesty, I have completed it; please take down the fan." 0

The woman slightly bowed and lowered the fan. Everyone couldn't help but gasp in shock; one half of her face was that of a capital citizen while the other half was that of a Rakshasa! 0

If they hadn't seen it with their own eyes today, no one would have believed it! Was there really such a method in the world? Could someone actually change their face? 0

"As everyone can see, I only took half an hour to help this palace maid change her appearance. A skilled person wouldn't even need half an hour!" 0

Mo Xier's idea was quite simple; modern makeup techniques allow ordinary people to easily alter their appearance and enhance their beauty! 0

She had been very interested in it before and had done some research; she never expected to use it in such a place! 0

Pointing directly at Pei'er, who was kneeling on the ground, she shouted, "And you used this method! The real Dancer has probably been dealt with by you long ago! When it's time for the performance, you will transform into a Rakshasa and wait for an opportunity to poison me!" 0

As she spoke, she clapped her hands, and guards brought forth some items—things used by women. 0

"I have already sent people to search your courtyard and found these items buried in freshly turned soil in the corner. They are precisely what is used for changing one's appearance! At this point, what else do you have to say?" 0

With evidence placed before her, no matter how she argued, it would be futile. Pei'er's earlier panic gradually calmed down due to Mo Xier's relentless questioning. A smirk slowly appeared at the corner of her mouth as she suddenly raised her gaze, showing no fear in her eyes. 0

"Since you already know everything, why should I say more?" The situation changed so quickly that everyone was caught off guard. The frail woman from moments ago had vanished without a trace. 0

As their eyes met, she could feel the resentment emanating from her, though it was strange and inexplicable. 0

"Who sent you? Why are you doing this to me?" She stepped forward, grabbing Pei'er's arm with agitation. "Did you also kill Aunt Liu and the others? Why are you doing this?" 0

"Why does it matter? Someone just can't stand you and wants to get rid of you!" Pei'er's gaze was filled with venomous hatred. 0

In a place where no one was paying attention, Pei'er slowly moved her hand under her sleeve. Just as she lost focus for a moment, Pei'er suddenly raised her hand, and the sharp blade glinted with blinding light! 0

In a daze, she shouted, "Go die!" 0

The speed was so fast that others couldn't react in time! Mo Xier was shocked; she never expected this woman to be so ruthless. Even at this point, she still wouldn't let her go! 0

She twisted her body with all her might, only to see the sharp dagger barely graze her cheek, sliding upwards and cutting the ribbon that held her hair. In an instant, Azure Silk fell away, carried by the wind. 0

With this strike missing its target, there would be no chance for a second attempt. 0

Quick to react, Night Star rushed forward, grabbing Mo Xier's wrist while simultaneously kicking the woman on the ground. He didn't hold back his strength; Pei'er was knocked down and began to spit blood. 0

"Are you okay?" His concerned words were the first time he appeared so flustered in front of everyone. 0

Mo Xier slowly shook her head and turned to check on the woman on the ground. However, the blood loss was too great; she was already in a state of gasping for breath, close to death. 0

Turning her head away forcefully, she didn't want to witness the woman's gruesome condition any longer. There was a clear sense of desolation in her eyes. If only she could ask something—just a little bit—then she wouldn't feel so lost, knowing only that someone wanted to harm her! 0

"I didn't mean to use such force," Night Star's explanatory voice came from behind. 0

She didn't blame him; she only felt regret and slowly shook her head. "I should thank you. Why do you need to explain yourself to me? Isn't that a bit distant?" 0

"Are you alright?" The Emperor arrived at her side just after Night Star, grabbing her wrist with concern etched on his face. 0

Staring at the wrist he held, Mo Xier couldn't help but frown. Did even the Emperor enjoy taking advantage of others? 0

This scene was clearly witnessed by Consort Jin, who had just arrived from behind. In an instant, her gaze towards the woman deepened. 0

"It’s nothing, just a bit startled," she said politely as she withdrew her hand. "Thank you, Your Majesty, for allowing me to search for the culprit so recklessly today." 0

"This is only right. How could I forgive anyone who dares to harm others within my palace?" Realizing he had acted somewhat inappropriately, he cleared his throat twice and pulled his hand back behind him. 0

Consort Jin smiled and stepped forward, linking her arm with the Emperor's. "Since the culprit has been caught, it can be considered a resolution for the young lady. It’s getting late; why not let her stay in the palace to avoid the trouble of traveling?" 0

She was a clever woman and immediately noticed the Emperor's interest in this lady. As she observed the glimmer in his eyes, she thought it might be wise to do him a favor by keeping this woman in the palace. 0

With more opportunities for contact, there would surely come a day when she could win his favor. Wouldn't he remember her kindness and generosity? 0

"Yes, yes! I was just thinking of asking the young lady to treat the Empress Dowager. If that’s the case, why not let her stay in the palace?" 0

Mo Xier could easily understand their intentions; staying in the palace was far less appealing than returning to the General's residence! Catching a glimpse of the man beside her with a somewhat dark expression, she couldn't help but smile. 0

This blockhead, even if unwilling deep down, shouldn’t express it so openly on his face. Does he think others can’t see through it? 0

She respectfully bowed and said, "It’s not that I don’t wish to stay in the palace, but Old Madam from the General's residence is very fond of me. I fear that if I suddenly don’t return, she will be heartbroken. If possible, may I return today? After spending some time with Old Madam, I can come back to the palace." 0

Before the Emperor could respond, she continued, "As for the Empress Dowager's condition, I will inquire with the Imperial Physician after returning and prepare some medicine for her. I believe there won’t be any major issues." Her intention to leave was already clear. 0
