Mo Xier spoke sincerely, her smile under the moonlight appearing exceptionally gentle. Compared to Liu Xuxin, her smile seemed more genuine, devoid of any deceit.
Staring at her for a long time, Madam Liu became somewhat entranced. She suddenly felt that if they did not communicate and relied solely on first impressions, the woman before her did seem a bit ostentatious. However, after a detailed conversation, she realized that things were not as she had initially thought.
Her speech was clear and she was very polite to others, seemingly only having an odd attitude towards Old Madam. Reflecting on Old Madam's attitude towards her, it made sense why she would also have a strange demeanor towards Jiang Yu.
Madam Liu had always believed that to earn respect from others, one must first respect them. However, seeing Old Madam's attitude towards her, it seemed that their grievances ran deep.

Mo Xier continued to question relentlessly, leaving Old Madam stunned and unable to respond. Meeting Mo Xier's brilliant gaze, she felt a metallic taste rising in her throat.
She gripped the prayer beads tightly in her hand, not even feeling the pain digging into her palm. Her eyes widened like copper bells, as if she would swallow the woman whole in the next moment.
It felt as though a fierce fire was burning within her heart, causing pain throughout her entire being!
In Jiang Yu's eyes, Li Ye was an exceptionally good Emperor! No one could speak ill of him. Yet this woman dared to belittle the current Sovereign right in front of her! She showed no regard for the ruler of the Heavenly Universe Kingdom!
However, Mo Xier was not afraid of such gazes. She met Old Madam's eyes directly with unwavering determination. "There’s no need for you to look at me like that; facts are facts. No matter how I or you say it, it won’t change! Looking down on me is looking down on me; why come to slander me?!"
"Outrageous! Is this how you respect your elders?" Furious, Old Madam raised the prayer beads in her hand and aimed them at the woman's face, throwing them forcefully in her direction.
Her speed was incredibly fast, and her strike was exceptionally fierce; this blow almost exhausted all her strength!
No one reacted in time, only hearing the sound of Buddhist beads falling to the ground. The beads, originally strung together, were now scattered everywhere, and the woman's fair cheeks were marked with bruises from the impact of the beads, quickly turning a shade of crimson, which was quite alarming.
The voice of Old Madam suddenly became so loud that it startled everyone present. They all stood frozen in place, staring blankly at the two people in the center.
The first to react was Night Star, who was kneeling on the ground. At the moment the beads fell, he could no longer maintain his kneeling position and abruptly pulled the woman up from the ground, cradling her in his arms as if protecting a child, his eyes filled with vigilance as he looked at Old Madam.
The woman being pulled up clearly stumbled a bit; after kneeling for so long, her knees had become sore and numb. Unlike the man, who was a martial artist, she was not used to standing up suddenly.
Seeing this scene, Liu Xuxin nearly loathed Mo Xier. She hurried forward to support Old Madam, who was trembling slightly, saying, "Aunt, why get angry over such a woman? Just kick her out of the General's residence. I believe my cousin is so filial that he wouldn't dare go against your wishes."
"Who dares!" As soon as she finished speaking, Night Star immediately shouted sharply, his gaze filled with disdain. "Anyone who tries to drive her away is going against me! You are just an outsider who has been here for a day; what right do you have to comment on my family matters?"
"Good! Good! Good! Truly my good son! Madam Liu, Xiner! Look at this! This is my son whom I have raised for over ten years!" Old Madam trembled as she pointed directly at Night Star, her eyes filled with disappointment.
If one looked closely, they could even see her hatred towards him; however, due to the chaotic situation at that moment, no one noticed.
"Mother, I have emphasized this to you more than once: she is my woman! She must stay in the General's residence! If you want to drive her away, then I can only be unfilial!"
On the matter concerning Mo Xier, there would be no retreat; he had always insisted on this. Seeing that the situation was getting out of control, Madam Liu hurriedly stepped in to mediate.
"Old Madam, please don't be angry. I see that girl is not without merit; it wouldn't hurt to take her in as a concubine for Night General."
"Madam Liu, what are you saying? How can such a woman stay in the General's residence? Aunt has said she is a Demoness; there must be reasons for that. Besides, this woman has an unknown background; how can we ensure the safety of the General's residence by keeping her here?"
With hatred evident in her gaze towards the woman, Liu Xuxin had completely grasped Old Madam's mindset. Old Madam did not like the woman before her at all; what did she have left to fear?
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone fell silent and turned their eyes toward her. Liu Xuxin felt no guilt at all; she straightened her back and held onto Old Madam's arm without any sign of retreat.
The woman leaning against Night Star did not say a word; she simply remained quietly nestled in his embrace like a calm little rabbit, exuding no sense of threat whatsoever.
The fair cheeks were now flushed, looking startlingly vivid, making it hard to look a second time. The gaze was remarkably calm, showing no trace of anger, as if she were a tranquil puppet devoid of any emotion.
Night Star looked down at the woman in his arms, and this silence made his heart ache unconsciously. When had he ever seen such a lifeless woman?
"Don't think that pretending to be weak by not speaking will work. Is there any woman in this world who doesn't know how to feign weakness? Why must you imitate Dong Shi here?" Old Madam seemed unable to tolerate the woman's affected demeanor and couldn't help but speak out again.
In response to Old Madam's words, Mo Xier, hiding in the man's embrace, appeared unresponsive, merely staring blankly at the ground, her eyes devoid of any light, as if she had been frightened by something.
"Aunt is right; such a woman indeed does not deserve to stay in the General's residence. Why has Madam Liu suddenly turned against us?" Liu Xuxin smiled gently, her face showing no hint of disdain, yet her words carried a disrespect towards Madam Liu that everyone could hear.
Madam Liu's expression changed instantly; she had never felt so humiliated in front of so many people before, especially being sidelined by a junior. Her face turned noticeably darker.
Glancing at Night Star and Mo Xier, she prudently closed her mouth and refrained from saying anything further.
Old Madam pressed down on her wrist and softly said to Madam Liu, "Madam Liu, don't take it to heart. Xiner speaks so directly; please don't blame her."
Lifting her gaze slightly, Madam Liu merely smiled and shook her head, choosing not to speak again.
"Let's stop talking about this. At this point, I believe we have nothing more to discuss." Night Star seemed unwilling to linger any longer and intended to turn and leave with the woman in his arms.
Old Madam was not willing to let it go that easily. She stepped forward briskly and grabbed his wrist, shouting loudly, "You won't go anywhere until this matter is resolved today!"
Night Star's irritation was evident as he didn't even look back; with a flick of his wrist, he shook off the grip that bound him. However, he did not control the force behind it.
Though his wrist was freed, a gasp followed immediately!
Before Night Star could react, Old Madam had already fallen to the ground. Liu Xuxin reacted the fastest, stepping forward to support Jiang Yu as she fell, her eyes filled with concern. "Aunt! Are you alright? Does anything hurt?"
Old Madam looked at the man standing nearby in a daze, unable to comprehend what had just happened!
Turning around and seeing Old Madam on the ground, Night Star was momentarily stunned. He had never imagined that he would accidentally push Old Madam down!
His eyes revealed a look of surprise and doubt. Although he had great strength, he would not push someone down so dramatically.
"You unfilial son! You actually treat me this way for a woman! Unfilial son! Heaven must be blind to let me raise such a white-eyed wolf!"
Old Madam grasped Liu Xuxin's hand tightly, trying to stand up with all her might, but her legs trembled uncontrollably, and she couldn't get up at all!
It seemed that Liu Xuxin was using all her strength to support her. A smug expression appeared in Liu Xuxin's eyes. The situation had suddenly turned so dire; did it mean that this woman could leave the General's residence tonight and would no longer pose a threat to her?
She then turned her gaze to the woman who had been hiding in his arms, Mo Xier, whose expression seemed very desolate, completely lacking the fighting spirit she had shown before.
Seeing this, Liu Xuxin's smugness became even more apparent, but in the next moment, she quickly concealed it, looking directly into the man's deep eyes and softly asking, "Cousin, have you lost your mind? How can you treat Aunt like this?" Tears streamed down her face, and her pitiful appearance was truly heart-wrenching. In the next moment, her hand supporting Old Madam trembled even more.
But this time, it was not her trembling; it was Old Madam, who was still sitting on the ground unable to rise.
"White-eyed wolf! White-eyed wolf!" Jiang Yu's eyes widened in fury and despair, the stench of blood becoming more intense in his mouth.
Suddenly, as if choked by something, the old woman's eyes widened even more. After a brief pause, Old Madam spat out a mouthful of fresh blood!
In an instant, everyone present was stunned, especially Liu Xuxin behind Old Madam. Shocked, she released her grip; having been raised in seclusion, she had never witnessed such a scene.
She stood frozen in place, unable to step forward as gasps filled the air around her.
