“Rong Mama, who is making such a racket outside? You've woken me up so early!” The voice of Old Madam came from inside the room, sounding somewhat weak; last night had indeed been tiring for her. 0

“In response to Old Madam, it is the Young Master and Miss Liu who have come to see you. Should I let them in?” Rong Mama instinctively ignored Mo Xier, who was standing next to the man. 0

There was a moment of silence inside the room before Old Madam finally spoke, “Let them wait for a bit. Come in and help me get up.” 0

Upon hearing the command, Rong Mama quickly turned and entered the room. After nearly half an hour, she came out again. “Old Madam has gotten up; you may go in now.” 0

Liu Xuxin was the first to step inside, followed closely by Night Star. Mo Xier looked at the two ahead and raised an eyebrow slightly before following the man into the room. 0

As soon as they stepped inside, they were greeted by a strong scent of Musk, even more intense than what they had encountered in Buddha Hall. 0

Mo Xier's brows furrowed tighter; Old Madam had a peculiar preference for this unpleasant scent. It was so overpowering that it was almost hard to breathe. 0

The doors and windows of the room were tightly shut, causing the heavy aroma to linger within for a long time without dissipating. 0

“Aunt, are you feeling alright? I was worried about you all night!” Liu Xuxin hurried over to Jiang Yu’s side, her face filled with concern. 0

Jiang Yu first glanced at Mo Xier before slowly turning her gaze to Liu Xuxin, her smile warm and kind. “Xiner is so filial, coming to see me so early in the morning.” 0

After saying this, she took Liu Xuxin's hand and pulled her to sit beside her, holding her hand affectionately. The two women sat together like long-separated mother and daughter. 0

“Mother, are you alright?” Night Star respectfully stepped forward to pay his respects. It was as if last night's events had never happened; he appeared calm and composed. 0

Old Madam slightly raised her eyes, filled with disdain. She tossed the brand-new prayer beads in her hand onto the table. Jiang Yu let out a soft huff, looking down at her own hands as she quietly said, “You bring this Demoness here so early in the morning? I see you're not here to check on my health but rather to see when I will die!” 0

“Aunt, please don’t be so angry this early in the morning!” Liu Xuxin noticed Old Madam's displeased expression and immediately spoke up to comfort her. She then waved at Cui Er. 0

With a bright smile, she said, “Aunt, I woke up early today and made some rock sugar Bird's Nest for you. Try it and see if it suits your taste.” 0

Cui Er quickly brought over what she was holding and placed it on the table while softly saying, “Our young lady got up early to prepare this for Old Madam. Please drink it while it's hot; it's a token of her sincerity.” 0

Lifting the lid of the Bird's Nest on the table, steam wafted up, releasing a warm vapor. The white, tender Bird's Nest looked quite tempting. 0

"Xiner, you've worked hard," Old Madam said with a satisfied smile. 0

"Old Madam, do you still feel unwell today?" After observing Old Madam for a while, Mo Xier finally spoke, stepping out from behind the man with a beaming smile. 0

"My health is none of your concern, Demoness! It's just a weasel wishing a chicken good luck, not sincere at all!" Old Madam huffed lightly, not even glancing at her. The disdain she expressed was completely unmasked. 0

As if she hadn't heard anything, Mo Xier maintained her smile and continued, "Old Madam, your health isn't too bad. However, it's best not to get angry too often in the future to avoid any relapses; that would truly be detrimental to your health." 0

"Scoundrel!" Old Madam slammed her hand on the table, producing a loud sound. "You Demoness just want me to die early so you can settle down in the General's residence!" 0

Mo Xier seemed quite dismissive as she turned back to the man beside her, once again linking her arm with his and softly saying, "Old Madam is just joking. You've had issues with me for quite some time now, yet here I am, staying quietly in the General's residence." 0

"You!" 0

Before Old Madam could finish her words, Mo Xier interrupted her: "Old Madam, I advise you not to get angry over this matter; it’s not worth compromising your health." 0

"If it weren't for you Demoness, would my health be like this now?" she shouted angrily. Then she turned to Night Star and exclaimed, "You unfilial son! Do you know how much I detest this Demoness? Yet you bring her before me every day! Do you really want to drive me to my grave?" 0

Night Star's expression changed slightly as he explained in a deep voice, "I only brought her here to greet you and see how you're doing. If you insist on thinking I brought her to show off, then I have nothing more to say." 0

Although his words weren't very pleasant, his tone remained respectful. After all, this person was his mother. Despite their lack of close contact, he still yearned for maternal love in his heart. 0

"Aunt, please don't be angry with Cousin anymore," Liu Xuxin said gently with a hint of coaxing. "Why bother getting upset over an outsider?" 0

After saying this, she cast a disdainful glance at Mo Xier and continued, "Aunt, she's just a woman. You might as well let Cousin keep her; it's just like adding another person in the General's residence. If you let a woman cause discord between you and Cousin, wouldn't that just be giving others something to laugh about?" 0

Throughout the night, Liu Xuxin had been contemplating that woman. After much consideration, she decided it was best to keep Mo Xier in the General's residence for now. After all, having her nearby meant she had countless ways to deal with her! If she were taken out of the General's residence, that would be troublesome. 0

As the saying goes: cut the grass and remove the roots. She could guarantee that this woman would not linger before her for more than a month; she would definitely not leave the General's residence alive! 0

"Are you not angry? With such a woman by your cousin's side, where would you stand?" Old Madam turned her head, her face full of concern. 0

She smiled slightly, her gentle gaze filled with confidence as she said, "She's just a woman after all. Who knows, my cousin might have more women around him in the future. If I get jealous now, I won't have enough vinegar to last!" 0

Her words were appropriate, showcasing the virtues of a good woman perfectly. Indeed, a look of admiration appeared on Old Madam's face, and her previously unpleasant expression became much more pleasant. 0

She then turned to Night Star and exclaimed loudly, "Look how considerate Xiner is for you! Yet you insist on liking this Demoness. Are you blind?" 0

Upon hearing this, Mo Xier's expression froze slightly; Liu Xuxin's thoughts seemed utterly foolish to her modern sensibilities! 0

What she found most unacceptable was a man having multiple wives! A person's heart can only belong to one; how could it be divided among several? Just thinking about it made her feel nauseous. 0

Old Madam stared at Night Star for a long time, picking up the prayer beads on the table and turning them rhythmically. The room fell silent, all eyes focused on her. 0

Finally, Old Madam sighed lightly, stopping the movement of the beads as if she had struggled for a long time. She said in a deep voice, "If you want her to stay, it's not impossible." 0

As soon as these words were spoken, everyone's eyes in the room lit up, except for Mo Xier. She looked at Old Madam with a serious expression but felt something strange in her heart. 0

This woman had disliked her for quite some time; how could she so easily relent and agree to let her stay? 0

"As long as you agree to marry Xiner, I will allow you to keep this Demoness in the residence. Otherwise, no matter what tricks you pull, I will not agree!" Old Madam's tone was heavy and carried an air of authority that left no room for dissent as she fixed her gaze firmly on him. 0

"Aunt! What are you talking about..." Her tone was filled with shyness, yet she occasionally glanced up to observe the man's expression. 0

Mo Xier stood aside; although her head was lowered, she took in everyone's expressions. 0

Seeing Liu Xuxin's reaction made her inwardly sneer; she had initially thought this woman had some intelligence but realized she was merely infatuated. Given the man's nature, he was not someone who would be easily threatened; it was already surprising that he didn't threaten others! 0

Sure enough, as soon as Liu Xuxin finished speaking, Night Star countered firmly, "Impossible!" Those three simple words expressed his most genuine and unchangeable thoughts. 0

Old Madam's expression darkened instantly; the prayer beads in her hand began to turn again, reflecting her anger and agitation. 0

Liu Xuxin's face turned an even more unpleasant shade, shifting from the earlier shyness to a green hue that could rival a modern traffic light. 0

Mo Xier, watching from the side, couldn't hold back and suddenly burst into laughter. 0

"Ha!" The sound echoed in the silent room, drawing everyone's attention to her. 0

Feeling the gazes around her, she quickly suppressed her laughter, but the slight upward curve of her lips betrayed her. 0

Old Madam looked at her with eyes filled with fury. The intensity of that gaze was palpable, yet she felt no fear and met it head-on. 0

"Old Madam, why go through such trouble? If Xingchen truly likes Miss Liu, he will naturally marry her. Why does Old Madam need to act as a matchmaker?" Her tone was laced with disdain, even carrying a hint of mockery. 0

"Do you think you have the right to interrupt me? Just an outsider dares to speak to me like this!" Old Madam shouted angrily. 0

She acted as if she hadn't heard anything, her smile unchanged. She lightly tossed her hair and said, "No matter what, I’ve spoken. What can you do about it?" 0

Just as she finished speaking, her wrist was tugged by Night Star in front of her. Understanding his implied warning, she immediately reined in her arrogance. 0

"Aunt, please don't be too angry. The young lady didn't mean it; she speaks sincerely." 0

"Is this sincerity? It's clearly a lack of upbringing! When have you seen a woman speak to her elders like this?" Old Madam's face was filled with rage as she pounded on the table, causing the teacups to clatter with each strike. 0

The sound filled the entire room, creating an atmosphere of terror where no one dared to speak. 0
