"Wake up... wake up!"
Li Nan felt extremely weak, his eyes barely able to open, but he vaguely heard someone calling his name. In a daze, Li Nan finally regained his senses.
Han Guang stood nearby and exclaimed loudly, "He's awake!"
In an instant, Li Nan felt several people surrounding him, but due to only a few Wolf Eye Flashlights illuminating the area, he couldn't see clearly.
The person at the forefront had a massive build and immediately patted Li Nan on the shoulder, saying, "I thought you weren't going to make it! Thankfully, you're okay!"

Zhang Li looked confused and asked, "What are you talking about?"
Li Nan felt that the surroundings didn't resemble a ventilation duct at all and asked again, "Where is this? How did you find me?"
Zhang Li frowned and said to Liu Ziming and the others, "Is Li Nan really out of it?"
At that moment, Liu Ziming stepped forward to check Li Nan's forehead. Finding nothing unusual, he shone the flashlight on his own face and asked, "Do you know who I am?"
Li Nan found it amusing and replied, "Aren't you Liu Ziming? How could I forget you!"
Liu Ziming turned to Zhang Li and said, "Company Commander, he's not out of it!"
Li Nan retorted, "You're the one who's out of it!" As he spoke, he felt a tug on his shoulder, followed by a sharp pain that jolted him awake a bit more.
Liu Ziming advised, "You're injured; don't move around too much. Be careful of infection; even a deity can't save you then!"
Now Li Nan felt like his intelligence was somewhat lacking. Why did their conversation seem so disconnected? What was going on? Could it be...
Li Nan frowned and tentatively asked, "What just happened?"
Liu Ziming laughed, "It seems you really are clueless; you can't even remember what just happened."
Li Nan remained silent, while Liu Ziming continued enthusiastically, "Just now in the ventilation duct, you used the Wolf Eye Flashlight to peek your head into the vent under Door 2, looking around. Then, in a classic case of 'if you don't mess with it, it won't mess with you,' something ridiculous happened!"
Liu Ziming paused deliberately, wanting to see Li Nan's reaction, but Li Nan was unresponsive, as if he had completely forgotten about it.
Feeling bored, Liu Ziming was about to continue when Han Guang interrupted him. He said slowly, "When you poked your head down, there happened to be a Zombie facing you. One of its hands was quick and pulled you down, so now we are in the area behind Door 2."
Zhang Li immediately added, "You were pulled down by the Zombie from the vent. Han Guang was the first to notice and without hesitation jumped down after you. Soon after, all of us brothers followed!"
Li Nan seemed to be listening to a story, feeling extremely surprised. "Are you saying I was attacked by a Zombie in Door 2?"
Everyone nodded.
Could it be that the series of events he just experienced was all a dream? But why did he have no memory of what happened inside Door 2? Li Nan felt like he was about to break down; what on earth was going on?
Li Nan clenched his fists and hit himself hard on the head.
"Dizzy, feeling a bit dizzy!" Li Nan's sensation was intense, but after a wave of dizziness, it seemed nothing else happened, and he still knew nothing about the situation inside Door 2.
"Then what happened to my shoulder?" Li Nan asked suspiciously.
Zhang Li replied, "You fell from over three meters high in the vent and landed on the ground. Your shoulder got injured—fractured and torn flesh!"
Li Nan examined his right arm and indeed noticed signs of a fracture, but it had already been set.
Liu Ziming smiled and said, "I'm not good at many things, but handling bones and reducing inflammation is something I'm quite skilled at!"
Li Nan forced a smile and replied, "It seems these soldiers have suffered quite a bit in their daily lives!"
At this point, Li Nan had begun to believe everything Zhang Li and the others had said. Clearly, that dream of his, which felt so real, was just a dream after all.
As Li Nan turned his gaze, he happened to see a corpse of a Zombie, and next to it lay a soldier in military uniform on the ground.
Li Nan exclaimed, "Who is this fallen one?"
Liu Ziming's earlier brightness faded completely as he said softly, "To save you, my brother pounced on that Zombie and was bitten to death."
These words made Li Nan's expression very difficult. He didn't say a word but walked over and knelt before the fallen Wolf Fang Soldier, bowing deeply.
"I owe you a great debt that cannot be expressed in words; I, Li Nan, am ashamed before my brother!" he silently thought, tears welling up in his eyes.
A single tear did not fall; it wasn't that Li Nan couldn't cry, but after experiencing such a strange dream, he felt he had become much more resolute. At this moment, shedding tears while bowing down seemed less meaningful than standing tall and bleeding later.
The atmosphere in the area around Gate 2 was particularly heavy with anger. At this time, Zhang Li spoke up, "We should leave now and stick to the original plan!"
Fifteen people had descended into the Underground Morgue, and now only eleven remained. It was uncertain how many more losses they would face along the way; perhaps this moment was just a farewell not far off.
Under Zhang Li's leadership, everyone climbed back up through the ventilation shaft and continued onward.
Li Nan did not inquire further about what happened inside Gate 2; clearly, the atmosphere was not suitable for such questions. However, from the few clues available, it could be inferred that there was only one Zombie inside Gate 2. It hadn't followed the other Zombies up the ventilation shaft. Just when Li Nan couldn't contain his curiosity any longer, he was pulled down by that Zombie and nearly devoured. Then Han Guang jumped down and kicked the Zombie away. Following that was Zhang Li and the others engaging in a fierce battle with the Zombie. Although it was unclear what methods they used, it ultimately took one person's sacrifice to kill that Zombie.
Inside the ventilation shaft, due to his right hand being inconvenient, Li Nan could only use his left hand to search through his chest pocket. Sure enough, he found that the M1911 pistol Zhang Li had given him was missing.
At this moment, Han Guang, who was crawling ahead of Li Nan, handed over something. "This is my treasured item, the M191, with seven rounds. Use it sparingly!"
Li Nan had no idea what this M191 was, but since Han Guang offered it to him, he accepted it without hesitation.
Han Guang explained, "It's an American gun; it won't blow up!"
This statement left Li Nan confused. He could no longer distinguish between what had been a dream and what was real. However, he was too lazy to think about it now; escaping from this place as soon as possible was the best option!
After crawling through the ventilation duct for a while, Li Nan kept his head tilted upward, trying to see if there were any gaps along the way.
His right arm was injured, making it quite difficult for Li Nan to crawl. But now was not the time for him to be sentimental; they were like a barrel, and the shortest board determined their group's limit. Therefore, Li Nan could not afford to hold them back.
Gritting his teeth, Li Nan continued to crawl. Along the way, he saw no signs of any breaks or gaps. Now he was certain that the strange experiences he had earlier were indeed figments of his imagination!
Moving left from Area 2 brought him to Area 1, which also had an exposed vent. However, this time Li Nan restrained his curiosity and hurriedly crawled past.
Based on Li Nan's understanding of the underground structure, after Area 1 there was a large machinery room that housed the underground wind and power control systems.
Originally, this Control Room could be accessed from the surface. However, since Li Nan and the others were trapped underground and unable to contact the outside world, they could only enter through the ventilation ducts.
Han Guang asked Li Nan, "Since that Control Room is connected to the surface structure, what if those Zombies have already broken out?"
Li Nan replied, "Impossible. The Control Room is a critical area with excellent security. Since those Zombies can't exit through the main door of Mortuary One, they certainly can't break down the door of the Control Room! So it's also a completely enclosed space!"
"You’re talking about Zombies at minus ten degrees, but now we’re facing Zombies at plus thirty degrees. They might be able to break down that Control Room door."
Li Nan considered Han Guang's point but realized there were no other options left. They could only push forward despite the uncertainty of what might happen next; they could only do their best and leave the rest to fate.
Li Nan smiled and said, "It would be easier if those Zombies went out. If they don't, the corpses in Mortuary One are still there. How are we going to deal with them?"
Han Guang let out a bitter laugh, "We'll take it one step at a time. Maybe heaven won't completely abandon us!"
Looking back now, their idea of descending into the Underground Morgue to wipe out the Zombies was incredibly foolish. At this moment, Li Nan's most urgent wish was for the relevant authorities to discover what was happening underground at Jiangbei Hospital in time and then take the most appropriate measures, even if it meant destroying the entire Jiangbei Hospital!
Li Nan shook his head; he felt guilty for dragging these people into this mess.
Unintentionally, Li Nan noticed that the people in front had stopped, so he quietly asked, "What's going on up ahead?"
Han Guang replied, "We've reached the Control Room. We need to figure out how to get down!"
In fact, the spatial position of the Control Room was parallel to Mortuary One. Therefore, as Li Nan and the others crawled through the ventilation ducts, there were corresponding vents on the Control Room side. However, the Control Room was connected to a large Electric Machine that worked regularly to ventilate the Morgue below.
Li Nan asked Han Guang, "Do you have a watch?"
Han Guang answered, "Yes, it's 12:55. Is there a problem?"
Li Nan said anxiously, "The ventilation Electric Machine in the Control Room operates every hour on the hour. We need to get down before 1 AM; otherwise, we'll be crushed by the Electric Machine!"
