While Li Nan was taking a cold shower in the bathroom, he suddenly heard a rustling sound outside. Feeling something was off, he quickly wrapped a towel around himself and rushed out of the bathroom. The noise outside abruptly stopped, and then he saw Mo Xiaohui's eyes light up as she exclaimed, "I didn't expect you to have such a good figure!"
Seeing that it was Mo Xiaohui, Li Nan relaxed. "Why are you wandering around instead of going to sleep? You made me rush out here!"
Mo Xiaohui smiled, "I couldn't sleep, so I came out to take a look. You can go back and continue your shower!"
Li Nan had basically finished his shower, so he replied, "I'm done. I'm going to sleep now; I need to rest up because tomorrow is going to be tough!"
Mo Xiaohui was wearing a loose-fitting nightgown, which he wondered where she had found.
"I get it. But let me ask you one last question: did you decide to come out on a whim?"
Li Nan shook his head and replied seriously, "I have given it considerable thought!"
Mo Xiaohui asked, "That's good. So let me ask you this: once we leave this neighborhood, where do we go?"
This question left Li Nan puzzled. To be honest, the idea of going out had indeed been a spur-of-the-moment decision for him, and he hadn't thought about the specific route at all.
Seeing Li Nan's indifferent expression, Mo Xiaohui scolded playfully, "No way! Tomorrow morning we'll be like headless flies bumping around; isn't that asking for trouble?"
"Then what good ideas do you have?" Li Nan retorted. She answered, "I don't know where we should go either, but at least we should head towards places with fewer zombies; it would be safer!"
Hearing Mo Xiaohui say this made Li Nan think. Jiangbei City might be a third-tier city, but it had a considerable population—at least two or three million people. Where could they find the areas with the fewest zombies? This question left Li Nan deep in thought.
Mo Xiaohui joked, "We definitely can't go to the city center; there are probably zombies everywhere there. One step from a person could crush us! We should head to the outskirts or even leave Jiangbei City altogether!"
Mo Xiaohui's suggestion made sense. However, while heading to the outskirts or another city might help them avoid most zombies, resources would be scarce. In this apocalyptic world, survival without supplies was impossible—a dilemma indeed.
Mo Xiaohui noticed Li Nan's embarrassment and asked, "Is something wrong?"
Li Nan expressed his concerns, but Mo Xiaohui laughed heartily, "Haven't you heard of Chairman Mao's theory of surrounding the cities from the countryside? Why worry about supplies? As long as we can survive, there will always be bread!"
Li Nan chuckled, "You clever little thing, you know quite a bit!"
Li Nan wanted to wipe Mo Xiaohui's face with his hand, but as he moved his hands away from the towel at his waist, he realized that his action was a bit foolish!
Mo Xiaohui stared intently at the space between Li Nan's legs and couldn't help but laugh.
Li Nan felt embarrassed and quickly picked up the towel from the ground to cover himself, saying, "It's time to sleep. What are you doing up so late, you little girl?"
Seeing Li Nan's embarrassed expression, Mo Xiaohui smiled even more, "I'm not a little girl anymore; I'm twenty-three this year!"
Mo Xiaohui emphasized the words "not a little girl," clearly teasing Li Nan, while Li Nan awkwardly replied, "It's getting late; hurry up and go to bed!"
Mo Xiaohui responded with an "Oh" and immediately bounced back to her room like a little girl.
Li Nan wiped his face and thought to himself, "I've lost all my dignity! Damn it! Maybe I should have just pinned Mo Xiaohui down earlier!"
At that moment, Mo Xiaohui suddenly turned around and asked, "What are you talking about?"
Li Nan forced a smile and said, "Nothing. Just go to sleep!"
Mo Xiaohui quickly slipped into her room.
Li Nan shook his head, "What a troublesome little sprite!"
Confirming that Mo Xiaohui had already entered the room, Li Nan tossed aside the towel beneath him in the living room and stretched out his arms, seemingly enjoying this last moment of peace before the storm.
Without Mo Xiaohui's antics, Li Nan felt quite relaxed as he watched the incessant rain outside, with dark clouds shrouding the entire sky. He sighed, "I don't know if stepping outside is right or wrong, but let's take a gamble! No matter the outcome, I have to give it a try!"
The corpse downstairs had been completely devoured, leaving nothing but a pool of blood that rippled under the rain's assault.
Around it wandered five or six Zombies, their clothes tattered by the rain, various wounds oozing dark, decaying flesh. They seemed like phantoms roaming in the dark night.
Li Nan assessed the Zombies with indifference, but then caught sight of a figure approaching from behind.
The footsteps were very light, yet Li Nan sensed the shadow behind him because in the glass before him, a woman's face was slowly drawing near.
Li Nan took a deep breath and said, "You're not sleeping? Are you planning to be a night owl?"
The woman behind him tried to stretch her arms to cover Li Nan's eyes and make him guess who she was. However, she suddenly realized that her height was insufficient; she had to tiptoe to reach his eyes!
Mo Xiaohui chuckled softly, "How did you notice me?"
Li Nan pointed at the reflection in front of him in the glass. "Your technique is too clumsy; I saw you at a glance without even trying!"
Mo Xiaohui laughed heartily and then wrapped her arms around Li Nan's chest from behind. "I couldn't help it; I couldn't sleep and my mind was all over the place, so I came to get some fresh air with you!"
At that moment, Li Nan was still completely naked, but he didn't shy away from Mo Xiaohui. In this post-apocalyptic world, they had been through quite a lot together. Although they weren't at the point of being completely exposed to each other, it was fine for her to catch a glimpse of his backside!
Mo Xiaohui tightly embraced Li Nan's solid chest and murmured, "I like you!"
To be honest, given the current situation, there was nothing for Li Nan and Mo Xiaohui to criticize. Regardless of their feelings for each other, it had been just the two of them on this journey, so it was only natural that some sparks would fly. Moreover, they genuinely felt good about each other. Li Nan turned his head and lightly kissed her cheek. "Today isn't suitable. We need to conserve our energy for tomorrow's long journey. We can take our time with this once we settle down."
Mo Xiaohui smiled. "I thought you didn't want it! Since you're so principled, I won't push it!"
She withdrew her hands and playfully slapped Li Nan's backside before saying with a laugh, "I'm going to sleep now. You can enjoy this beautiful night view!"
Li Nan chuckled wryly. "Women! One moment they're charming and alluring, the next they turn into something else entirely!"
Mo Xiaohui continued to smile. "You're the one who wanted to look at this boring night view. I originally prepared something better for you, but you pushed me away, so don't blame me!"
Mo Xiaohui firmly closed the door to the room, seemingly dissatisfied with Li Nan's lack of romantic understanding. However, Li Nan didn't mind. It truly wasn't the right time for enjoyment; indulging in the fruits of victory too early would only lead to bitterness instead of sweetness. While it's said that flowers should be picked when they bloom, it's the flowers that can stand proudly against wind and snow that are truly rewarding. So it made sense to save the best for last.
A chill swept in through the window; the temperature was likely around ten degrees Celsius. As autumn deepened, the temperature was about to drop further, which might not be a bad thing for them. The actions of Zombies were restricted, significantly increasing their safety!
Li Nan couldn't help but sneeze, and then a voice came from inside the room, "I told you not to sit by the window and catch a cold. And sleeping without a shirt? You won't have to set off tomorrow!"
Little Witch was furious, and Li Nan dared not defy her. After putting on his clothes, he crawled back into his own room, and within three minutes, the sound of snoring could be heard!
In the room across, Mo Xiaohui was extremely angry. "You dead Li Nan, you wasted my good intentions! Now you're sleeping soundly while I can't even close my eyes all night!"
Mo Xiaohui hugged a pillow and muttered, "Tomorrow we start our wandering life, and I won't be able to sleep in such a warm bed again. I wonder where we'll end up; will we find a paradise?"

In her dreams, Mo Xiaohui smiled lightly, seemingly immersed in sweet dreams.
Meanwhile, in the room filled with snoring sounds, Li Nan was tossing and turning in bed. The so-called snoring was merely a tactic he used to distract himself from Mo Xiaohui's thoughts!
As for the path ahead and how to navigate it, Li Nan felt uncertain. However, he couldn't show any of this in front of Mo Xiaohui; women need stability, so he had to bear all the pressure alone!
"Forget it! It's either life or death; being timid isn't what a man should do!" Li Nan gritted his teeth and fell back onto the bed, snoring resumed!
