Li Nan ran a few steps and immediately felt an increased resistance behind him. When he turned around, Mo Xiaohui was nowhere to be seen!
“What’s going on?” Li Nan shouted, and a splash of water rose behind him, revealing Mo Xiaohui.
It turned out that when Li Nan started running, Mo Xiaohui couldn’t catch up and tripped over something underwater, falling into the water and struggling.
Seeing this, Li Nan quickly returned to help Mo Xiaohui, while pots and pans had already floated over from behind.
A large Motorcycle Helmet landed directly on Li Nan's hind leg. With the thrust from the water, Li Nan lost his balance and fell into the water.
Mo Xiaohui was flailing in the water, and when she saw Li Nan also fall in, she immediately shouted, “Watch out behind you!”
A mouthful of dirty water splashed into Mo Xiaohui's mouth, but she still gestured frantically at Li Nan. When Li Nan looked up suddenly, he saw a corpse drifting toward him.
The corpse appeared to be a woman; her long hair covered her face completely, making it impossible to see clearly. As it floated downstream and reached Li Nan, the corpse suddenly twitched as if it had caught a whiff of a delicious meal. Its swollen limbs moved in a comical yet horrifying manner!
The long-haired Zombie resembled Sadako, but its figure was quite regal; it was unclear whether it had always looked this way or if it had been affected by the water.
The head of the Zombie was aimed directly at Li Nan's waist. Without thinking, it bit down as if it were a starving dog!
“Damn!” LiNan struggled to rise from the water but felt a strain in his lower back. He swayed dangerously close to falling back in.
The Zombie bit down with a loud crunch, breaking off two of its front teeth.
Holding onto the Fire Axe with one hand for support in the water, Li Nan managed to maintain his balance. He then reached back with one hand and pulled out a Screwdriver, which was covered in dark blood!
The Zombie, confused by this turn of events, licked the gaps where its two teeth had been before attempting to bite again.
With a swift movement, Li Nan thrust the Fire Axe directly into the mouth of the Zombie, producing a series of cracking sounds as its teeth shattered.
The Zombie felt something was off about the entrance and immediately spat out the axe blade, while its large mouth was cut in half like a hamburger.
The Zombie opened its mouth and continued to bite at Li Nan, who was unfazed and turned back to pull Mo Xiaohui.
Grasping Li Nan's outstretched arm, Mo Xiaohui stumbled to her feet, still holding onto the birdcage throughout.
The parrot flapped its wings, looking at its owner with a resentful gaze, as if trying to express, "You almost drowned me!"
Mo Xiaohui stared in shock at Li Nan's back, "That Zombie is attacking you!"
At that moment, Li Nan smiled and said, "It's fine; this guy has no teeth and can't bite anyone!"
Li Nan swung the axe back and directly chopped off the Zombie's head, which then rolled around in the water like a rubber ball.
At this time, countless things were drifting towards Li Nan, including no less than ten Zombies!
Those Zombies also sensed the presence of other Zombies and seemed to wake up from their slumber, struggling to reach the surface of the water, eager to satisfy their hunger!
Li Nan asked Mo Xiaohui, "Are you ready? We need to fight our way out!"
Mo Xiaohui had already hung the birdcage at her waist and brandished a Climbing Pick, swinging it as she said, "Ready! Sir!"
Li Nan raised his Fire Axe and took the initiative to charge forward, chopping at any corpse he saw without caring whether they had turned into Zombies or not!
Li Nan was on the left, Mo Xiaohui on the right, with a rope stretched between them. As several Zombies surged forward, these two worked together seamlessly—one in front and one behind—directly hacking away!
After taking down five or six Zombies, Li Nan shouted to Mo Xiaohui, "We need to hurry; this situation isn't good!"
Mo Xiaohui replied confusedly, "There are only three or four Zombies left. If we take them all out, we can leave without any issues!"
Li Nan signaled Mo Xiaohui to look behind, and when Mo Xiaohui raised his head, he saw that all the corpses in the surrounding water were stirring, and a group of Zombies was rushing towards them!
Mo Xiaohui raised an eyebrow, "What is going on? We are just passing through, why are there so many Zombies?"
With a swift motion, he chopped off a Zombie's head with an axe, then Li Nan shouted, "There’s a large truck over there! Let’s go there!"
They climbed over a guardrail by the roadside and spotted a large truck on the other side of the road. Li Nan and Mo Xiaohui ran straight towards it.
Li Nan opened the driver's door, and a corpse fell out from inside, landing right on Li Nan's shoulder.
Mo Xiaohui was startled. He pushed the fallen corpse to the ground and stomped on its head before it could react, crushing it instantly.
Li Nan stopped Mo Xiaohui's actions, saying, "It hasn't turned into a Zombie; it was killed by someone who pierced its heart with a sharp weapon!"
Mo Xiaohui seemed uninterested in Li Nan's words and immediately asked him, "Can this truck still run?"
Li Nan quickly jumped up to check the wiring inside the truck; it was intact. Then he found the keys on the corpse that Mo Xiaohui had just crushed.
Li Nan sat in the driver's seat and said to Mo Xiaohui, "Hold on tight; I'm going to show you how it's done!"
After the earlier scare, they were now temporarily safe. Mo Xiaohui relaxed and said, "Drive! Let’s see your driving skills!"
Li Nan stepped on the gas pedal, and the truck leaped forward. It surged out before landing back down, heading straight towards the direction they had just escaped from.
Mo Xiaohui exclaimed in shock, "What are you doing? Why are we charging back instead of escaping?"
Driving the truck like it was a tank, Li Nan ignored everything else and charged forward. He crashed into a roadside barrier without slowing down. Using the truck's size to his advantage, he crushed through it. The approaching Zombies didn’t realize how dangerous this metal beast was; they thought it was just another meal and continued to rush forward!
In an instant, it was a battle between the metal truck and the horde of Zombies. Mo Xiaohui sat in the driver's seat feeling the uneven bumps beneath them as arms and heads smashed against the windshield.
Mo Xiaohui looked at the scene before him, feeling at a loss. "Aren't you afraid you'll crash into the overpass behind us?"
Li Nan remained noncommittal, driving the truck like a madman, exuding an aura reminiscent of a titan rampaging through Washington D.C. His only intention was to crash!
In no time, the Zombies that had surged from the water were being crushed under the wheels of Li Nan's truck, and thanks to its size, it seemed completely unaffected by the water on the ground.
With a sudden "squeak," Mo Xiaohui felt the front wheels of the truck slipping, and the entire vehicle came to a halt.
"What happened?" Mo Xiaohui asked urgently, but Li Nan remained unfazed, pressing down harder on the accelerator. The engine began to struggle, making a cacophony of mechanical grinding sounds that filled their ears.
Mo Xiaohui sensed that Li Nan had definitely lost his mind and shouted, "Stop the truck! I want to get out!"
Li Nan released the steering wheel and said to Mo Xiaohui, "Just a moment ago, we were being chased by those Zombies. Now we have a chance to turn the tables; how can we not enjoy ourselves with a good slaughter?"
Mo Xiaohui shook his head. "The truck is stuck; you shouldn't act so recklessly!"
Mo Xiaohui opened the door and jumped down with a crowbar in hand, while Li Nan had no choice but to grab his Fire Axe and follow suit.
The water flowed towards the drain in the middle of the path, but various pots and pans had already blocked it, causing the water flow to slow down.
Li Nan drove the truck, effectively crushing most of the Zombies that had come onto the road, leaving the water beneath him stained black.
Looking at the flesh floating on the surface of the water and the dismembered limbs, Li Nan smiled broadly, while Mo Xiaohui felt a wave of nausea. "Some Zombies are stuck in the wheels, and it seems something has gotten into the engine too; this truck won't run anymore!"
Mo Xiaohui glanced around and made his judgment. Li Nan leaned in closer and said, "If we take care of these beasts, then this truck will have fulfilled its purpose!"
Mo Xiaohui was growing angry. "You're too reckless! This truck could have been our ride, and now who knows if it can be repaired!"
Li Nan looked around and noticed another Zombie still alive on the other side of the truck. He immediately grabbed his Fire Axe and rushed over, hacking away until he reduced it to a pile of mush!
Mo Xiaohui stared at Li Nan's actions and slowly said, "The way you are now, you are no longer the Li Nan I knew!"
Li Nan was confused, "What are you talking about?"
"You have no need to run over those Zombies with this truck, just like you don't have to turn that Zombie into mush. If you continue like this, I don't think we can go far!"
Li Nan was surprised, "I am who I am. I have always been protecting you and considering our future!"
Tears streamed down Mo Xiaohui's face. "When dealing with that insane Cloaked Man, you just threw him downstairs. Why do you have to chop up the Zombies into pieces?"
Li Nan shook his head. "The Cloaked Man is human; they are Zombies. There is no comparison!"
"There is a comparison. It's your own deep resentment that makes you hate the Zombies so much. Although they created this apocalyptic era, you can't stay in this state; you'll go mad!"
Mo Xiaohui reached out her hands to hold Li Nan's face, but he stepped back, staring intently at her. "Is being in this era still our luck? Should we maintain compassion towards the Zombies and recite prayers of great mercy for them?"
Mo Xiaohui instinctively took a few steps back; she felt that the man before her was drifting further away!
