Hiding in the driver's seat, Mo Xiaohui felt quite bored, continuously teasing the parrot behind her. Surprisingly, after being tormented by Mo Xiaohui for a while, the parrot still seemed lively.
In the blink of an eye, Mo Xiaohui saw Li Nan stumbling towards her from outside the vehicle. Just as she was about to feel happy, she suddenly noticed a small shadow behind Li Nan.
Mo Xiaohui thought to herself, "This is not good. Could it be that someone is threatening him?"
She pulled out her Climbing Pick, gripping it tightly and aiming it towards the direction where Li Nan was approaching. However, the atmosphere outside felt off; Li Nan had an indifferent expression that made Mo Xiaohui suspicious.
Then, Mo Xiaohui clearly saw the small shadow behind Li Nan—it was clearly an underage child!
At that moment, Li Nan had already opened the truck's door and said to Mo Xiaohui inside, "I have good news and bad news for you. Which one do you want to hear first?"
Mo Xiaohui felt puzzled. "What's wrong with you?"
Li Nan replied, "Then I'll tell you the bad news first: our food has been stolen!"
Mo Xiaohui didn't pay much attention to Li Nan's words; her gaze was fixed on the small shadow behind him, fearing that something unexpected might happen.
Seeing that Mo Xiaohui was distracted, Li Nan shouted loudly at her, "The food is gone!"
"Ah!" Mo Xiaohui reacted and immediately exclaimed, "What happened?"
Li Nan smiled and said, "Then let me tell you the good news: we've found the culprit, right behind me!"
At that moment, a dog suddenly emerged from behind Li Nan and slowly said, "My name is Dogzi!"
Mo Xiaohui was completely at a loss for words at this scene. "What is going on? Are these two crazy?"
Indeed, the information conveyed by Li Nan was somewhat difficult for Mo Xiaohui to comprehend. After a careful explanation, Mo Xiaohui finally realized, "So that's how it is!"
Li Nan asked Mo Xiaohui, "I have already represented your opinion and reached a strategic cooperation intention with the dog. You have no objections, right?"
Mo Xiaohui chuckled, "Do you really think you're the Secretary-General of the United Nations? You're not even comparable to a single hair of Ban Ki-moon!"
Li Nan displayed a look of disdain, saying, "You're just being sycophantic. What's so great about that guy? Our cooperation with the dog has significant strategic importance!"
Mo Xiaohui kindly said to the dog, "Little friend, this big brother didn't bully you just now, did he? If he did, let me know, and I'll stand up for you!"
The dog disdainfully replied, "I'm not a little friend!"
After being dismissed, Mo Xiaohui turned to Li Nan, who could only helplessly say, "Don't underestimate him; his abilities are greater than yours!"
Upon seeing that Li Nan's companion was just a very silly and naive woman, the dog was unconcerned and directly turned to walk towards the back of the car. He then said to Li Nan, "You can choose your room later; pick one that doesn't leak. However, since we are now partners, at least the food should be split evenly!"
The dog pulled out a glass bag from his sleeve and skillfully jumped into the car compartment to start gathering food.
Watching the dog's retreating figure, Mo Xiaohui said to Li Nan, "Are you sure he's just a child?"
Li Nan nodded. "Don't be fooled by his twelve years; his maturity is quite impressive. He could probably handle both of you!"
Mo Xiaohui huffed in annoyance, "You're just talking nonsense!"
Mo Xiaohui also put on a raincoat and carried a birdcage while moving all the items from the backpack into the abandoned two-story small building.
At that moment, the dog returned carrying a large bag.
"Where did you get this car?" Dogzi asked Li Nan.
"On the road ahead!" Mo Xiaohui replied quickly.
"You two are really lucky. I've been scavenging in this area and only found some scattered food. Heaven is really favoring you both!"
Li Nan stared at Dogzi's face and said, "Maybe, but relying on heaven's favor is too abstract. In this apocalypse, to survive, we have to depend on our own strength!"
Dogzi ignored the two and turned back into the room.
Li Nan searched for a relatively dry room on the second floor, dropped his backpack and luggage, and then tidied up a bit.
It was a completely bare room with two windows on either side, letting in a strong draft.
Li Nan pulled out a piece of clothing from his backpack and stuffed it into the two windows as makeshift windshields.
Mo Xiaohui laid out their simple bedding on the floor and then asked Li Nan, "That kid seems unfriendly. What happened before?"
Li Nan recounted Dogzi's story to Mo Xiaohui and then said, "Regardless of whether he's friendly or not, we need to stay here for a while!"
Mo Xiaohui sighed, "So his experience is that tragic!"
Li Nan didn't want to comment, "Everyone's life is a tragedy if you can choose your perspective!"
Mo Xiaohui didn't understand Li Nan's meaning, while Li Nan explained, "We shouldn't care about others' experiences right now; our own situation is what matters most!"
Mo Xiaohui frowned and said, "Why do you have such a bad temper?"
As two people were busy in the room, the dog stood at the doorway.
Mo Xiaohui suddenly turned around and saw the dog standing in the doorframe, startled. "What are you doing?"
Li Nan also turned to see the dog, noticing that it was holding a Wedge in its hand.
The dog stammered, "There are Zombies on the road outside!"
Upon hearing this, Li Nan immediately picked up the Fire Axe beside him and rushed out. From the balcony, Li Nan saw two Zombies hovering near a large truck.
"When did you spot them?" Li Nan asked the dog, who replied, "Just now, they were walking along the road!"
Li Nan looked in the direction they came from and saw dozens of Zombies gradually emerging from that road!
Li Nan cursed under his breath and ran over with the axe, turning back to shout at the dog, "Don't go outside! Stay with Mo Xiaohui and don't do anything reckless!"
Those Zombies must have followed Li Nan and the others, and there was still a lot of food left in the truck that needed to be moved. He couldn't afford to abandon it, so he had to deal with those Zombies. While they hadn't gathered into a horde yet, Li Nan needed to take action first.
