The clumsy truck had barely traveled a hundred meters when its rear suddenly lifted, causing it to tip over!
Li Nan, who was steering the wheel, was taken aback. "What’s going on?"
As Li Nan continued to accelerate, Li Dapeng leaned out of the window and noticed a trail behind the truck.
"The fuel tank is broken; it's leaking fuel!" Li Dapeng shouted. Li Nan immediately understood that although the truck had moved a bit, it was ultimately doomed to be scrapped!
At that moment, a swarm of spiders was rapidly approaching from behind. If the truck didn't get moving soon, the three of them would end up as spider prey!
The gasoline leaking from the back of the truck spilled onto the wide road, causing the spiders that stepped on it to slip and slow down a bit. However, several spiders had already spun silk from their abdomens and stuck it to the truck.
Following the resilient silk, two or three spiders had jumped onto Li Nan's truck and crawled up to the driver's cabin.
One spider spun a web and directly shot into the open window where Li Dapeng was sitting!
Startled, Li Dapeng's Binding Hook slipped from his sleeve, but it was useless against the spider silk.
Li Nan felt a surge of panic and shouted to Li Dapeng and Mo Xiaohui, "We need to get out of here! Staying in this truck means certain death!"
Li Nan opened his door and first helped Mo Xiaohui out of the vehicle. Then he kicked at the black spider reaching for Li Dapeng, pulling him out in a hurry!
As soon as the truck stopped, it was completely overrun by countless Black-Furred Spiders within moments. The spider that Li Nan had kicked away spun a silk thread in mid-air and swung back toward them.
The three of them fled desperately while the pursuing spiders surged after them like a tide, giving them no chance to escape!
With three people having six legs, they couldn't outrun the eight-legged spiders. Their disadvantage became apparent as they found themselves nearly within reach of the spiders.
Suddenly, Li Nan thought of the leaking truck and shouted to Mo Xiaohui, "Do you have a lighter on you?"
Mo Xiaohui was busy and had no idea what Li Nan wanted to do. Searching his body, he couldn't find even a single match, let alone a lighter!
At that moment, Li Dapeng remembered that he might have a lighter on him, but after searching, he couldn't find it.
Seeing this, Li Nan felt embarrassed and said, "It seems like fate is against me!"
A Black-Furred Spider darting ahead still had a footprint on its abdomen, seemingly harboring a grudge against Li Nan as it relentlessly pursued him, not giving him any chance to catch his breath.
Li Nan turned around and found a spider already at his feet!
After a moment of shock, Li Nan remembered that he still held two Rebar Javelins in his hands. He immediately threw one at the spider, but it dodged out of the way just in time!
The sharpened tip of the Rebar Javelin struck the Asphalt Road, creating a shower of sparks!
Although he missed the spider, Li Nan saw another opportunity. As the spider lunged at him, he raised his right hand and threw the other Rebar Javelin forward!
The size of a small dog, the Black-Furred Spider lunged with its fangs aimed at Li Nan's face. In response, Li Nan suddenly crouched down and shouted to the two people in front of him, "Get down! Quickly get down!"
In an instant, the Rebar Javelin he released flew behind the truck, igniting sparks on the road. The sparks ignited the gasoline on the ground, quickly turning into a sea of flames. Within seconds, the road in front of the Culvert was engulfed in fire.
The flames spread rapidly and soon reached the truck. The internal fuel tank of the truck became a ticking time bomb. With a loud bang, the more than twenty-ton truck was instantly shattered into several pieces that scattered everywhere!
With a thunderous roar, Li Nan rolled away as he lay down. The Black-Furred Spider that had lunged at his face was instantly crushed by a flying piece of car debris!
Before any bodily fluids could splatter, the shockwave from the raging fire surged forward, instantly roasting the spider into a meal!
After hiding behind a nearby roadblock, Li Nan felt he had narrowly escaped disaster. Looking back, he saw that Mo Xiaohui and Li Dapeng were also behind him.
In that moment, Li Nan couldn't help but say with tears in his eyes, "That was really damn thrilling, just like an American blockbuster!"
At the same time, hundreds of spiders near the truck were writhing in the flames, making a screeching sound. Soon, Li Nan and the others caught a whiff of a pungent smell of burnt feathers.
Mo Xiaohui hugged Li Nan tightly, tears in her eyes. "I thought we were done for this time; I didn't expect to survive!"
Li Nan smiled bitterly. "Deciding to push into Jiangbei City was truly a mistake. We hadn't even taken a few steps before the truck was destroyed and we nearly lost our lives! It's just bad luck!"
Mo Xiaohui shook her head. "So what do we do now? Do we retreat?"
Li Nan replied, "No way. The truck is completely wrecked, and we've suffered too much loss. If we don't salvage something to take back, we'll really be in big trouble!"
Mo Xiaohui began to smile. "I'm listening to you! But what do we do now?"
"Let's wait a bit. Once the fire outside is out, we'll go out and figure out a way to get through today!"
Mo Xiaohui understood and then hugged Li Dapeng as well. "We're lucky and blessed; nothing will happen to us easily!"

Behind the roadblock, Li Dapeng held up a charred spider leg that had come flying over and thought to himself, "I wonder if this thing is edible?"

Li Dapeng didn't get Li Nan's joke but brought it close to his mouth anyway. With a crunch, he bit down on it. "It's a bit burnt, but it's still edible!"
The fire on the road had gradually extinguished, yet Li Nan was undeterred by the lingering heat. He stepped outside and discovered that the ground was littered with the charred remains of spiders, a truly horrifying sight!
Among the numerous spider corpses was, of course, Li Nan's beloved vehicle. Although it was just a domestic brand, it had a large carrying capacity and was quite durable, making it a decent ride in this post-apocalyptic world. Unfortunately, it had barely warmed up before it was reduced to scrap. Even more regrettable was that the Diesel Generator he had salvaged from the construction site was also destroyed, leaving not even a trace behind!
Li Nan kicked aside a few obstructing spider carcasses and slowly approached the somewhat deep Culvert. It seemed likely that this was the lair of the Giant Black Hairy Spider, while the smaller spiders were probably its offspring. This meant that Li Nan's actions had effectively wiped out the entire spider family!
The burn marks inside the Culvert were also quite evident. It appeared that the spider silk must have been a flammable substance; otherwise, the fire wouldn't have spread into the Culvert.
Li Nan turned on his Wolf Eye Flashlight and ventured into the Culvert, finding not only scattered spider bodies but also remnants of human hands and feet!
The intense fire had blackened both walls of the Culvert, where the spider corpses remained relatively intact, while the human remains were in pieces. It seemed these so-called humans had been devoured by spiders within the Culvert before succumbing to the fire!
Li Nan shook his head, "Could there really be so many Survivors around here?"
He bent down to pick up an arm that had fallen at his feet. The flesh on its surface had been charred to ash, and from its darkened wound, it was clear that this body had black blood flowing through it before being consumed by spiders. This indicated that the massive Black-Furred Spider had been feeding on Zombies before encountering Li Nan and his group!
With this revelation, Li Nan suddenly felt relieved. "So that's how it is!"
