"Good!" I nodded in satisfaction, then turned and walked deeper into the palace, my heart filled with determination. The voice of the system echoed in my mind:
"Congratulations, host, you have successfully activated the Palace Defense System and received the reward: Heavenly Awakening Technique!"
I clenched my fists, filled with confidence, believing that I could lead everyone to defeat the demon race and protect the palace, safeguarding the Heavenly Revelation.
As I stepped out of the main hall, I saw several palace maids hurriedly approaching with the Little Emperor. The Little Emperor's face was filled with worry as he anxiously asked, "Lin Fan, are there really many demons outside? Are they... are they very scary?"
"Don't worry, Your Majesty. With me here, no one dares to harm you." I smiled to reassure the Little Emperor, then shielded him behind me as we continued deeper into the palace.
" Curator Lin, where are you going?" General Zhao asked, following closely behind me.
I pointed to a massive Bronze Door ahead. "Behind that door is the secret chamber at the deepest part of the palace. Inside is the key mechanism that controls the Palace Defense System. I'll go activate it first, and then you all can act according to my instructions."
"Understood, Curator Lin," General Zhao nodded and led the Imperial Guards behind me toward the massive Bronze Door.
We entered through the Bronze Door and found ourselves in a dark tunnel. The tunnel was eerily quiet, with only our footsteps echoing back at us, and a damp, musty smell lingered in the air.
"This place... is really creepy," one of the Imperial Guards whispered, his voice filled with fear.
"Don't be afraid; this is just a passage. We'll be out soon," I comforted him as I continued forward.
As I walked, I observed my surroundings, trying to find clues to activate the mechanism.
" Curator Lin, look! There seems to be a mechanism here," one of the Imperial Guards pointed at a protruding stone on the wall.
"Well, take a closer look. What is carved on this stone?" I approached the stone and examined it carefully.
There was a strange pattern etched into the stone, and upon closer inspection, I realized it was an eye.
"This is... an eye?" one of the Imperial Guards exclaimed.
"That's right, this is the activation mechanism for the palace's Defense System," I explained. "We need to touch these mechanisms in a specific order to activate the entire Defense System."
As I spoke, I reached out and touched the eye. With a click, a small door appeared in the wall.
We passed through the small door and entered a secret chamber.
Inside this chamber were various mechanisms that looked very complex.
I walked over and placed my hand on a jade pendant.
The pendant was cold to the touch and felt very smooth, with exquisite patterns carved on it.
"Now we can go all out!"
I said, turning my gaze to the Imperial Guard Commander standing nearby. "You immediately lead the Imperial Guards to act according to my instructions and prepare for the demon clan's attack."
"Understood!" The Imperial Guard Commander immediately took command and led the Imperial Guards out of the main hall.
"Your Majesty, you should also prepare," I turned to the Little Emperor and said. "There may be a battle soon, so you need to protect yourself."
The Little Emperor nodded. Although there was still some fear on his face, his eyes were filled with trust in me.
" Curator Lin, can you really fend off the demon clan's attack?" the Little Emperor asked, his voice full of unease.
"Trust me, I will definitely protect you." I patted the Little Emperor's head and smiled with determination.
I then patted the Little Emperor's shoulder and pointed to the large control console in the center of the chamber. "Your Majesty, do you see that? This is the core that controls the entire palace defense system."
The Little Emperor curiously stepped forward, his eyes wide as he looked at the densely packed buttons and indicator lights on the control panel. He asked, "Lin Fan, what are these buttons for?"
I pointed to one of the red buttons and said, "This button controls the palace's outer defense formation. Once pressed, it will activate a powerful Energy Barrier that envelops the entire palace, making it nearly impossible for anyone to enter easily."
The Little Emperor listened with great interest and pointed to another blue button, asking, "What about this one?"
I smiled and explained, "This button controls the traps and mechanisms inside the palace. Once activated, countless hidden arrows and traps will spring into action, making it difficult for even a powerful demon to escape unscathed."
The Little Emperor was thrilled, eager to press those buttons and see what magical functions they had.
"Alright, Your Majesty, it's not playtime yet," I said, putting away my smile and adopting a serious tone. "The Demon Army is approaching fiercely; we must be fully prepared to withstand their attack."
As I spoke, I began operating the control panel. One by one, the buttons were pressed, and the palace's defense system activated. Visible Energy Barriers rose around the palace, enveloping it completely.
" Curator Lin, the Demon Army has begun their attack!" a panicked Imperial Guard rushed in, shouting loudly.
"I know. You need to immediately notify the troops at all locations to act according to the predetermined plan!" I commanded calmly.
