"Alright, I was originally thinking of calling the police, but now that I think about it, I'll leave the initiative to you. If you're willing to turn over a new leaf, then start anew, and I might not report it," Zhang Yang said before putting away his phone and leaving the hotel room.
"I say, uncle, how did you offend such a troublemaker?" Qiang sighed at Li Shucai. Then he turned to the red-haired person and said, "Quick, call 120; I can't sit still anymore."
Li Shucai didn't say much either; he stood up and silently walked out of the room. Zhang Yang and Ding Weiwei spent another two days together. The next time they wanted to meet for an extended period, it would probably have to wait until winter break.
Zhang Yang returned to Shanzhou a day early, thinking that classes would start the day after tomorrow and he could take a break tomorrow. When he arrived at school, it was already past 8 PM. Passing by a small garden, he casually turned his head and noticed a man and a woman talking face-to-face under the dim streetlight; the male figure looked tall from behind, and the woman was none other than Chu Ruoxi.
Chu Ruoxi seemed eager to end the conversation, but the man in front of her appeared anxious and somewhat persistent.
"Ahem." Zhang Yang slowed his pace and cleared his throat. Upon seeing Zhang Yang, Chu Ruoxi immediately rushed over, grabbed his hand, and said to the man:
"Zong Linghan, I'm not lying; this is my boyfriend."
Zhang Yang was taken aback by her words. At that moment, he saw a pleading look in Chu Ruoxi's eyes. The man called Zong Linghan stared intently at Zhang Yang without saying a word.
"Ruo Xi, what's wrong? I was going to call you, but my phone died," Zhang Yang said as he naturally extended his hand. "Hello, Law Department Zhang Yang; may I ask your name?"
"Law News Department Zong Linghan," Zong Linghan replied as he shook hands with Zhang Yang briefly before pulling back. Zhang Yang scrutinized Zong Linghan; if it weren't for his thick black eyebrows, his face was quite handsome—almost feminine.
"Ruo Xi, I wish you happiness. However, I will wait for you until you get married!" After saying that, Zong Linghan turned and left.
Once Zong Linghan had walked away, Zhang Yang pointed at his left hand tightly held by Chu Ruoxi with his right hand. "Oh!" Chu Ruoxi immediately withdrew her hand in embarrassment and said to Zhang Yang, "Thank you! As a fellow student from the same department, I really had no way out."
"He looks good and comes from a good family; your standards are quite high," Zhang Yang joked.
"He looks decent enough; how can you tell about his family background?" Chu Ruoxi returned to her usual self and rolled her eyes at Zhang Yang.
"The clothes are obviously high-end. But most importantly, it's his hands—smooth and well-maintained; someone like that must come from a good family," Zhang Yang laughed.
"Still so smooth and delicate, it's really disgusting." Chu Ruoxi shot Zhang Yang a glance and walked out of the small garden.
"It's really hard to be a good person. I helped, but got nothing in return, and still got called disgusting," Zhang Yang shook his head and slowly walked forward.
"I'll treat you to dinner tomorrow. What do you want to eat?" Chu Ruoxi suddenly turned around, her stunning face shimmering under the moonlight, exuding an irresistible aura.
"I want to eat Stewed Beef with Baby Potatoes," Zhang Yang said somewhat absentmindedly. "Alright! I'll contact you tomorrow!" Chu Ruoxi actually snapped her fingers and then walked towards her dormitory.
That night, Zhang Yang went to bed early. He woke up early the next morning; Chen Xiangyu had not returned yet, and Cai Fengfeng and Wang Zhongwei were still fast asleep. After getting dressed, Zhang Yang ran to the school's basketball court to play for a while. After a night of rest and sweating profusely, he felt much more comfortable. After returning to his dormitory and taking a shower, Zhang Yang gently closed the door, preparing to go have breakfast. However, just as he closed the door, his phone rang.
It was a call from Chu Ruoxi. Zhang Yang walked to the stairs before answering the phone.
"Zhang Yang, are you up?"
"Just got up."
"Shall we go?"
"Where to?"
"Weren't we supposed to go out? I’m treating you to dinner; you wanted Stewed Beef with Baby Potatoes."
"Uh..." Zhang Yang felt a bit overwhelmed; where could they possibly get Stewed Beef with Baby Potatoes this early in the morning? "It seems a bit too early."
"It is a bit early; I woke up too early today and have nothing to do. How about we go shopping instead?"
"It's only a little past 7; the stores aren't even open yet!" Zhang Yang couldn't help but chuckle.
On the other end of the line, Chu Ruoxi was silent for a while. Zhang Yang didn't know what to say either but couldn't just hang up, so he waited. "It's so early; classes start tomorrow. Let's have some fun today. How about we go to Happy World?" Chu Ruoxi suddenly said cheerfully.
Happy World is a newly opened large comprehensive amusement park in Shanzhou City, featuring various entertainment facilities where you can swim, dive, barbecue, play billiards, watch movies, and ride roller coasters.
"It's so far away; we're almost out of Shanzhou City. It takes nearly two hours by car," Zhang Yang said, feeling overwhelmed by Chu Ruoxi's extreme excitement today, as if she couldn't stop herself.
"A whole day is enough!" Chu Ruoxi shouted on the phone. "I heard that this Happy World is even bigger than Apple Amusement Park in Yanjing. Let's go, accompany me!" The excitement in Chu Ruoxi's voice grew stronger.
Zhang Yang felt a bit of a headache; with all this fuss, the day would be gone before he knew it. "Okay, okay, let's go then?" Suddenly, Chu Ruoxi exclaimed in a playful tone, making Zhang Yang laugh out loud. "Alright, first let's go to the supermarket to buy some beer, drinks, mineral water, sunflower seeds, cigarettes, and Eight Treasure Porridge."
"Huh?" Chu Ruoxi was momentarily stunned but quickly realized that Zhang Yang was imitating a train vendor and couldn't help but laugh.
At the supermarket entrance, Zhang Yang saw Chu Ruoxi. She was wearing a black long dress with a stylish little jacket over it. With a light touch of makeup on her already beautiful face, she looked exceptionally exquisite. On her feet were soft flat shoes that revealed her fair feet and half of her calves, resembling tender green onions.
"Wow, that face is too stunning; you're the epitome of beauty," Zhang Yang thought to himself. He glanced at his own outfit: jeans, a long-sleeve T-shirt, sneakers, and a backpack—typical student attire. Passersby at the supermarket gave Chu Ruoxi quite a few second glances. The security guard at the supermarket stared at her for quite some time before looking at Zhang Yang's outfit and couldn't help but sneer.
They quickly bought some drinks, mineral water, snacks, and bread in the supermarket without spending much time. To get from Shanzhou Urban Area to Happy World, they needed to take a tourist shuttle bus. Once on the bus, Chu Ruoxi remained in an excited state, frequently gazing out at the scenery and chatting with Zhang Yang, discussing many funny stories about their female dorm mates.
Zhang Yang gradually caught her enthusiasm and joined in on the fun. Young people enjoying their journey together—how could they not have fun on their way to Happy World!
