Unexpectedly, this young man was not only their savior but also the savior of his daughter. No wonder he was invited to their home for the New Year; it seemed that the father intended to betroth his daughter, Shasha, to him! This was certainly a plan worth supporting.
Just as they were about to stand up and express their gratitude to Jiang Chen, Old Qin continued speaking. “I was invited to attend a celebration event at his corporate group when I unexpectedly encountered an assassin. It was Director Jiang who saved me again. At that moment, I didn’t even realize it; it was Chungwai who informed me. By the way, Chungwai, you just arrived! Let me introduce you; this is my son and daughter-in-law. Huarong, Yuhe, He Chungwai is my bodyguard and housekeeper!”
He Chungwai also bowed respectfully to Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe. “Senior Brother, Senior Sister, I’m also from the Azure Eagle Special Forces. We are so glad to know that you are still alive!”
“Oh, thank you, Junior Brother, for taking care of my family all these years!” Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe quickly returned the gesture.
“Don’t mention it! This is also part of my duties. Compared to your missions, mine has been much easier!” He Chungwai replied.
“Let’s sit down and chat for a while!” Qin Huarong pulled He Chungwai to sit down and turned to Jiang Chen. “Director Jiang, we never expected that you would not only be our lifesaver but also the savior of our entire family. We are truly grateful!”
“What? You two were also saved by Director Jiang?” Old Qin exclaimed in surprise.
“Yes, if it weren’t for Director Jiang’s help, we would have truly perished and never returned!” Qin Huarong said.
“What happened? Please tell me why you two were missing for so long?” Old Qin insisted on getting to the bottom of it.
“This goes back to when the organization sent us undercover…” Qin Huarong began recounting their experiences over the years.
One day ten years ago, Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe’s superiors approached them with a special mission: to infiltrate the Kunshan Group as undercover agents. The Kunshan Group was a notorious drug trafficking organization in Myanmar, with most of its drugs smuggled into China. They had established a vast and intricate sales network within China. Through this network, drugs from the Kunshan Group continuously flowed into the country, poisoning its citizens.
The drug enforcement department had been relentlessly cracking down on the Kunshan Group's network domestically but had yet to eradicate it completely. Moreover, there seemed to be a trend of further expansion. The drug traffickers were desperate individuals; once caught, they knew there was no way out and thus refused to cooperate or fully disclose information about their accomplices. Consequently, efforts against drug trafficking had not yielded significant results.
To curb the rampant drug trade, the leaders of the drug enforcement department decided to send undercover agents into the Drug Trafficking Organization. After careful consideration, they chose Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe as candidates due to their strong skills and loyalty to their cause.
Infiltrating the Drug Trafficking Organization was no easy task. After thorough research and meticulous planning, a strategy was devised: Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe would pose as two key members of the Kunshan Group in Southeast Province—Jin Liu and Mei Dong.
Investigators had discovered that Jin Liu and Mei Dong were a married couple who had made their fortune through drug trafficking and were now core members of the trafficking network. However, they had never met anyone from Kunshan directly; they only communicated through an intermediary who worked for Kunshan. The movements of this intermediary had recently been tracked by drug enforcement agents.
It could be said that Jin Liu and Mei Dong’s drug trafficking network had already been exposed. When this intermediary returned from Myanmar to Southeast Province again, the drug enforcement department decided it was time to take action and apprehend this group of traffickers.
The operation involved deploying both Qin Huarong’s Azure Eagle Special Forces and Bai Yuhe’s Women’s Special Operations Team. After this operation, however, both Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe went missing; in reality, they had gone undercover in Myanmar as Jin Liu and Mei Dong according to their superiors’ arrangements.
So why were they said to have sacrificed themselves? This was primarily for confidentiality reasons. Only a few high-ranking officials knew about Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe going undercover; it was kept secret from everyone else. Additionally, considering the dangers involved and the high likelihood of sacrifice, it was decided from the outset that they would be declared dead to avoid raising concerns among their loved ones about their lack of communication.
Upon arriving in Myanmar, Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe found the Kunshan Group. With a well-prepared cover story and after passing several tests—since Kunshan was aware of Jin Liu and Mei Dong—they successfully gained acceptance into Kunshan Group as employees.
Initially assigned menial tasks due to Kunshan's lack of trust in them, it took a year for their skills to be recognized before they were promoted to minor leaders within the organization. From then on, they gradually gained access to valuable information which allowed them to send useful intelligence back according to their agreement. As a result, Kunshan's domestic drug trafficking network began to be dismantled piece by piece.
Kunshan remained unaware that Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe were undercover agents until May of last year when Kunshan visited Hong Kong Island. Upon returning, he suddenly arrested both Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe under suspicion of being undercover agents and subjected them to severe torture for information extraction.
The two firmly insisted that they were not undercover agents, just Jin Liu and Mei Dong. They knew that admitting to being undercover would lead to a quicker death. However, it was equally difficult to survive in such a situation. The drug traffickers were ruthless killers, and since they had begun to suspect Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe, even if they did not confess, death was inevitable.
Unexpectedly, one day the cell door opened, and Jiang Chen, Kunshan, and others appeared at the entrance. On that day, Kunshan's demeanor was the most humble Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe had ever seen. Jiang Chen, despite his youth, exuded an overwhelming authority. When Jiang Chen released Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe, they felt a sense of unreality. It became even harder to believe when they heard that the Kunshan Group had been destroyed.
However, after Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe emerged, they confirmed that the Kunshan Group had indeed been eliminated. They began to appreciate the formidable nature of this young man named Jiang Chen. Unfortunately, they had not asked for his name or background at the time, so they could only refer to him as their benefactor.
Since the Kunshan Group had been wiped out, Qin Huarong and Bai Yuhe returned to their organization. Upon their return, they found that their team members were all newcomers who did not recognize them, but their leader was still there. The leader was overjoyed to see them back and held a grand celebration in their honor.
Having achieved merit, not only would they receive awards but also promotions. Both were simultaneously promoted to vice captains of their respective teams.
"By the way, do you know why Kunshan became suspicious of you after his trip to Hong Kong Island?" After listening to their account, Jiang Chen was the first to ask.
