The actions of the burly man immediately drew the attention of others, who turned to look in his direction.
One person beside the man glanced at him and quietly asked, "You've eaten enough, why are you getting so worked up?"
The burly man had no response and shouted with spittle flying, "You, come here!"
Hearing the man's call, the second clerk hurried over with a panicked expression and asked, "What can I do for you, Hero?"
Unexpectedly, the burly man grabbed the second clerk and pointed at Lingfeng, asking him, "Tell me, why do we have to eat such low-quality dishes while that guy gets to feast on meat and fish?"
Seeing the situation escalate, the innkeeper quickly emerged from behind the counter with a fawning smile and said, "Hero, you may not know this, but this Hero is a disciple of the Spirit Sect..."
The innkeeper seemed to want to say more but was immediately interrupted by the burly man. "So what if he’s from the Spirit Sect? Does that mean he was raised by a noble family while we were just picked up off the street?"
Lingfeng secretly chuckled, knowing that the burly man was dissatisfied with such unfair treatment but chose not to intervene and continued eating.
The burly man ignored Lingfeng and continued to scold, "You spineless cowards! You worship the Spirit Sect so much, but how do they treat you? We often take care of your business, yet they eat and drink for free. Don't they know who is good and who is bad?"
"Hero," the innkeeper's expression changed as he stole a glance at Lingfeng and then lowered his voice, saying, "Hero, we can't afford to offend anyone from the Spirit Sect. Please try to be accommodating!"
"Accommodating!" The burly man snorted coldly and casually threw the second clerk towards Lingfeng.
Lingfeng's expression changed as he caught the second clerk with one hand and then set him down on the ground, asking with concern, "Are you okay, Brother Er?"
The second clerk repeatedly assured him he was fine before hurriedly running off.
"Cat Weeping for the Mouse pretending to be compassionate, Spirit Sect has nothing good!" The big man continued to complain loudly.
Lingfeng frowned and looked at the big man, asking word by word, "What do you mean?"
The big man was about to speak but was stopped by another person.
That person slowly stood up, smiled, and bowed to Lingfeng, clasping his fists and saying, "I am Rash, please forgive me, Hero!"
Lingfeng glanced at him, raising an eyebrow. His eyes were sharp and bright. Like the others, he wore a black robe that made him look more like a priest. However, he did not have a friendly demeanor; the first impression he gave was that this guy was definitely up to no good.
Lingfeng did not return the greeting but sat back down instead.
Although Lingfeng considered himself not a disciple of Spirit Sect, he had already entered Spirit Sect. Moreover, there was also a Assassin Hall Master in Spirit Sect, so how could he allow others to insult the goddess in his heart?
"Hmph," the big man continued relentlessly, snorting coldly and mocking, "What nonsense is this Hero? You were defeated by the other eight states, causing the current situation in Mandala Demon Realm, yet you still have the face to walk out of Spirit Sect?"
Only then did Lingfeng realize that Spirit Sect had long been unstable in Mandala Demon Realm and had incurred dissatisfaction from these people.
"Although we have no sect or faction, if we let these sectless Demon Cultivators attack the other eight states, it wouldn't have led to this situation!" the big man continued.
Since the Demon Lord was killed hundreds of years ago, Spirit Sect volunteered to attack the eight states but ended up suffering a great defeat. At that time, due to discrimination against these sectless Demon Cultivators, Spirit Sect did not allow them to participate in the battle. As a result, Spirit Sect's failure not only plunged Mandala Demon Realm into desolation but also left those Demon Cultivators feeling resentful.
After hearing this, Lingfeng could no longer sit still. He smiled disdainfully at the big man and said, "Are you implying that your cultivation is very high?"
Lingfeng's words caught the attention of two groups of people who all turned to look at this Demon Cultivator, who showed no trace of Spiritual Energy. In their view, there were only two reasons for a Demon Cultivator to conceal their Spiritual Energy: first, this person had little cultivation and thus insufficient energy to emit; second, this Demon Cultivator had low cultivation and avoided flaunting it publicly to prevent unnecessary trouble by deliberately restraining their Spiritual Energy.
They initially thought that Lingfeng would remain silent until the big man calmed down, but unexpectedly, Lingfeng suddenly spoke up.
The big man took two steps forward, raising his head high like a wolf determined to win, unwilling to bow to others. He snorted disdainfully and said, "Although I practice external martial arts, my cultivation has already reached the Late Stage of Constant Victory." With that, he deliberately released his Spiritual Energy.
Everyone remembered Li Ba, right? That Li Ba was also a strong practitioner of external martial arts and had reached the Late Stage of Constant Victory, yet he still fell at Lingfeng's hands without even touching him. Therefore, this Late Stage of Constant Victory Demon Cultivator was not something Lingfeng would take seriously.
"I'm not afraid of you. I haven't reached the true Demon Cultivation Realm yet, but I dare say I can defeat you in one move!" Lingfeng said without hesitation.
Lingfeng's confidence was actually justified. He thought that if he used the Fire Control Technique and surrounded the entire inn, then even this Late Stage of Constant Victory Demon Cultivator would have no way to escape. Moreover, he was merely at the Late Stage of Constant Victory; although he was an External Martial Artist, his speed certainly wouldn't reach an astonishing level, and his defensive abilities wouldn't be very strong either.
Lingfeng's words immediately piqued everyone's interest, and they looked at him with skepticism.
The Innkeeper, who was standing aside, was already restless. Seeing both sides in a tense standoff, he hurriedly approached Lingfeng and said, "Hero, please calm down. We are all from the Mandala Demon Realm and are Demon Cultivators; why must we escalate things like this?"
Provoked by Lingfeng, the big man's anger surged even more. A hint of Killing Intent flashed in his eyes, and the veins on his neck bulged with rage.
"Get out of my way!" the big man suddenly shouted as he pushed the Innkeeper aside.
The Innkeeper had no cultivation and was physically weak; how could he withstand such a forceful shove from the big man? He was instantly sent flying like a thrown stone, screaming in terror.
"Bang~~!"
With a loud crash, the Innkeeper embedded himself into a wooden piece of furniture not far away. Lingfeng stood dumbfounded in front of the Innkeeper, looking apologetically at him as blood poured from his mouth.
"You are too cruel!" Lingfeng had intended to save the Innkeeper; however, due to his low cultivation and insufficient speed to reach an ideal level, he was just a moment too late, and the Innkeeper ended up getting thrown out.
Lingfeng began to feel a sense of despair as the cold, indifferent gazes of those people made killing seem as easy as slaughtering a chicken, without any mercy.
“Innkeeper!” Er shouted as he rushed out from behind, dragging Innkeeper out from among the furniture.
“Dear Heroes, please save our Innkeeper!” Er cried, kneeling on the ground and pleading with everyone.
Lingfeng took a deep breath and noticed that Innkeeper was still breathing. Knowing he had not yet died, he quickly grabbed Innkeeper's hand and infused a bit of Spiritual Energy to protect his heart pulse. He then summoned what little Ginseng Tendril he had left, gave a piece to Er, and said with concern, “You should boil this in water and then feed him the soup along with this. He will recover soon!”
Er hesitated for a moment, glancing at Lingfeng and then at the barely conscious Innkeeper, before nodding gratefully and carrying Innkeeper to the back.
“Caring for a commoner is a disgrace for a Demon Cultivator!” The big man looked at Lingfeng's actions with even more disdain.
Lingfeng slowly stood up, his expression somewhat dim. Turning his back to everyone, he said, “Please return to your rooms; I want to have a showdown with this Brother!”
The crowd did not move, clearly not taking Lingfeng's words seriously.
Lingfeng's patience had reached its limit. He thought that since these people were all ruthless characters, he might as well teach them a lesson. With that in mind, he slowly took out a Firecracker from his pocket and gathered an astonishing amount of Spiritual Energy, leaving everyone dumbfounded. Then he shouted loudly, causing flames to suddenly leap from the Firecracker, drowning out the noise of the street with the crackling sound of fire. The intense heat made some people squint their eyes involuntarily.
“A fire-controlling Demon Cultivator!” The big man squinted slightly, looking at Lingfeng in surprise.
“Brother...” One person seemed to want to persuade Lingfeng, but he suddenly interrupted them, saying, “If you do not vacate the rooms for the Five Elements and someone gets hurt, I hope you will forgive me!”
With that, the flames formed a massive fire net that surrounded the entire inn, yet the wooden chairs remained unburned.
The others hesitated for a moment as they looked at the big man but eventually turned around and returned to their rooms.
"Hmph, do you think you can scare me?" The big man, wanting to save face, coldly laughed twice despite Lingfeng's threat, then suddenly vanished from sight.
Lingfeng smirked and made a gesture as if a great roc was spreading its wings, and flames surged once more, surrounding Lingfeng within.
The big man intended to rely on his speed to win, but he did not expect that Lingfeng's fire control was even faster. In the blink of an eye, he found himself enveloped in Fire Shield.
What Lingfeng used was indeed Fire Shield. Ever since witnessing Kehua demonstrate the Fire Shield, Lingfeng had no longer looked down on those low-level Spells, taking the opportunity to practice many techniques. Unexpectedly, it could come in handy at this moment.
The big man stood outside the Fire Shield, unsure of how to proceed.
"Hiding inside the Fire Shield, are you trying to be a coward?" The big man shouted from outside, frustrated by his inability to attack.
Lingfeng was certainly not retreating; rather, he wanted to give the big man an even harsher punishment.
Just as the big man's words fell, the protective Fire Shield began to change. The originally oval-shaped Fire Shield started to bulge outwards, eventually forming an egg-shaped fireball. Finally, with a loud screech, a sparrow-sized Fire Phoenix suddenly flew out, heading straight for the big man.
Though the Fire Phoenix was small, its momentum was overwhelming. The big man saw that this seemingly unimpressive kid could actually unleash a Fire Phoenix, and immediately felt a wave of fear wash over him, collapsing onto the ground.
