Hearing Man Bu She plead for mercy, Wan Shi Tong finally responded with a satisfied "hm." He then tossed Man Bu She back to the ground and muttered, "If you had been this obedient from the start, I wouldn't have had to exert so much effort!"
Man Bu She slowly got up, resembling an elderly man in his fifties, appearing weak and feeble. However, as soon as his hands left the support, he collapsed like a soft-bodied creature without a spine.
Man Pillar was startled and hurried over to help Man Bu She. Although he felt dissatisfied with Man Bu She, he was still the leader of the Barbarian Sect and his own Shixu. The entire Barbarian Sect needed him to govern, so out of filial piety, he stepped forward to assist him.
"How strange, why do I suddenly feel so weak?" Cold sweat streamed down Man Bu She's forehead as he trembled all over. He looked at his hands in disbelief, unable to channel any Spiritual Energy.
"What have you done?" Man Bu She questioned Wan Shi Tong and the others with a voice almost breaking into tears, filled with rage.
Wan Shi Tong couldn't understand why Man Bu She was reacting this way, but feeling guilty, he replied softly, "I... I just took the Demon Relic!"
"What?" Man Bu She looked at Wan Shi Tong in shock and quickly asked, "The location of the Demon Relic is so hidden; how did you find it?" He then pointed at Man Pillar and asked, "Did he tell you?" His demeanor suggested he was ready to take Wan Shi Tong down with him.
Man Pillar shrugged and glanced at Wan Shi Tong.
"I am originally a Demon Cultivator, so I can easily sense the Demonic Energy contained within the Demon Relic. That's how I found it effortlessly!" Wan Shi Tong spoke without knowing the implications of his words.
Upon hearing Wan Shi Tong's explanation, Man Bu She immediately changed his tone and pleaded with a smile, "Please return the Demon Relic to me. Without its energy support, I won't be able to recover my original powers within a month!"
Although the Demon Relic could provide Man Bu She with a vast amount of energy, once its position was moved, the array that transferred its energy would become ineffective. Not only would the energy within Man Bu She be reclaimed by the Demon Relic, but it would also take away his original energy. Thus, losing the support of his original energy left Man Bu She feeling empty and powerless. Recovering that energy would not be something that could be accomplished in a short time.
After listening to Man Bu She, Wan Shi Tong finally understood why he looked so drained. He smiled and said, "This is called reaping what you sow; you borrowed energy from the Demon Relic, and now you'll have an equivalent amount drawn from you. The Demon Relic never belonged to you in the first place; now you have no right to control it! And let me tell you this: don't place too much value on wealth; your heart may end up with nothing!"
With those words, Wan Shi Tong bid farewell to Lingfeng and Man Pillar, then left the Barbarian Sect.
Lingfeng placed the Demon Relic inside the Xuanji. Carrying it on him made it less likely to be discovered, ensuring his safety.
Standing on his Flying Sword, feeling the gentle breeze blowing towards him, Lingfeng felt an infinite sense of ambition. Now that he possessed the Demon Relic, it meant that the awakening of the Demon Lord Reincarnation would not happen anytime soon. The next task for Lingfeng was to wait; when winter arrived, he would go to Spirit Sect Stone Mountain to find Monkey Head.
As Lingfeng was feeling an overwhelming sense of emotion, the Flying Sword suddenly dove straight down towards a thorny area below. In the howling wind, he heard, "Brother, conceal your Spiritual Energy!"
At that moment, the Spiritual Energy radiating from Wan Shitong's body had already retracted. When the Flying Sword landed, it lost its support from the Spiritual Energy and suddenly transformed into a dagger.
Lingfeng had always preferred to keep his Spiritual Energy contained within himself, so he didn't need to make a special effort to retract it. However, Wan Shitong's sudden action left him puzzled, and the abrupt change of the Flying Sword caused him to lose his balance and fall straight down.
Wan Shitong performed a flying technique to stabilize Lingfeng in his arms and hurriedly landed in the thorns, enduring the pain of being pricked as he tightly covered Lingfeng's mouth.
Lingfeng was in agony from the thorns, with his mouth and entire body restrained by Wan Shitong. He couldn't move or shout; he could only swallow his pain.
Just as he was trying to understand why Wan Shitong was acting this way, a sudden gust of fresh wind blew through the thorns, carrying with it a hint of Killing Intent.
Only then did Lingfeng realize Wan Shitong's intentions. He quickly quieted down and looked up at the sky. Upon seeing this, he was immediately startled.
Above him, a person was riding a spirit beast swiftly towards the Barbarian Sect. The spirit beast was none other than the ancient ferocious beast, Tao Tie, which belonged to Monkey Head. However, the rider was not Monkey Head, as he had long black hair while Monkey Head was bald. Besides Monkey Head, only a Spirit Priest could control a Tao Tie.
The Tao Tie flew high in the sky; although it wasn't very clear, its imposing presence was still evident. Upon seeing this Tao Tie, Lingfeng's emotions surged again, as if the suppressed Evil Thoughts were resurfacing.
Fortunately, the Tao Tie flashed by and quickly disappeared above Lingfeng.
After a while, Wan Shitong confirmed that the Tao Tie had flown far away before crawling out from the thorns.
Lingfeng sighed in relief; his turbulent emotions stabilized once more. However, due to being pricked by thorns, he felt pain all over his body. Wan Shitong fared worse; because he protected Lingfeng, his entire body, including his back and face, had large bloody holes as if he had been pierced by fine needles all over.
"That was close! If we had been just a bit later, we might have been discovered!" Wan Shitong said with lingering fear as he touched his painfully pricked face.
Lingfeng nodded and exhaled. When he looked at Wan Shitong again, he couldn't help but notice the large bloody holes on his face that made it look like it was covered in spots. Covering his mouth, Lingfeng chuckled and said, "Big brother, you've disfigured yourself!"
Wanshitong rubbed his face and looked at his palm, only to find it covered in bloodstains. Suddenly, he was horrified and exclaimed dramatically, "Oh no, oh no! My beautiful face has been ruined!" Ignoring Lingfeng, he sat down on the ground, grabbed a handful of dirt, and cried out like a shrew, "What will I do about my beautiful face? How can I face anyone in the future~~!"
Lingfeng did not expect Wanshitong to react so strongly and was genuinely startled. However, seeing that Wanshitong was not joking, he quickly suppressed his laughter and squatted beside him, saying, "It's okay, big brother. I have some medicine here that can help heal your wounds!"
His appearance seemed to be very important to him. Upon hearing Lingfeng's words, Wanshitong hurriedly wiped away his tears and sniffled like a child, asking, "Really?"
Lingfeng nodded with a smile and then took out two Jade Dew Body Pills. He gave one to Wanshitong and ate the other himself, channeling his energy to help the medicine dissolve quickly.
Wanshitong also swallowed the pill. Since his cultivation level was relatively high, it didn't take long for the bleeding to stop, and soon after, the wound had healed.
Seeing that the wound had completely disappeared, Wanshitong finally breathed a sigh of relief. He looked back at his restored appearance and smiled, saying, "Little brother, what kind of medicine is this? It really works!"
Since it was inconvenient to explain about the Jade Dew Body Pill to Wanshitong, Lingfeng quickly changed the subject. He looked in the direction where Tao Tie had flown off and murmured, "That seemed to be a Spirit Priest; it looks like he's also heading to the Barbarian Sect!"
"It should be a Spirit Priest; his aura was truly terrifying. But thankfully he released his Spiritual Energy; otherwise, we would have definitely run into him!" Wanshitong replied.
"Big brother, I want to go to the Barbarian Sect one more time!" Lingfeng's sudden statement startled Wanshitong.
"I can't even avoid him; why would you want to go see him?" Wanshitong asked in confusion.
Lingfeng sighed; he naturally had his own thoughts. He had seen the cultivation level of the Spirit Priest before. If they couldn't find the Demon Relic and he went on a rampage with Tao Tie's power, it was likely that the entire Barbarian Sect would be leveled.
"Big brother, just don't speak when we get there; just point out that he's a Spirit Priest. I'll handle everything else!" With that, Lingfeng took out Wanshitong's dagger and threw it into the air. Of course, Lingfeng did not have the ability to turn the dagger into a Flying Sword, but seeing that Lingfeng was determined, Wanshitong helplessly shook his head and then recited an Incantation to transform the dagger into a massive Flying Sword.
Thus, the two of them stepped onto the Flying Sword and flew toward the Barbarian Sect once again.
Although the flying speed of the Tao Tie was beyond what the Flying Sword could catch up to, fortunately, the distance was not very far, so the two arrived at the Barbarian Sect in no time.
The two landed on the ground, held their breath to gather Spiritual Energy, and then re-entered the Barbarian Sect.
As expected, the Spirit Priest they encountered at the Barbarian Sect was indeed present. However, the Tao Tie had vanished, likely off to hunt for food.
The Spirit Priest entered the Barbarian Sect, ignoring the strange looks from others, and headed straight for the Golden Palace. But upon reaching the foot of the Golden Palace, he encountered disciples guarding the entrance led by the Man Pillar.
The Spirit Priest glanced disdainfully at the Man Pillar and then disregarded his obstruction, continuing towards the Golden Palace.
The Man Pillar naturally understood that this visitor meant trouble. The person before him was filled with Demonic Energy, clearly a Demon Cultivator. Moreover, a Killing Intent surrounded him, indicating he was not someone to be trifled with; he was likely here for the Demon Relic as well. Thus, he stepped forward and clasped his fists, saying, "Our sect's leader is seriously ill and cannot meet guests at this time. We kindly ask you to return in a month!"
The Spirit Priest snorted coldly and simply waved his hand lightly. A fierce aura immediately surged forth, sending the Man Pillar staggering back.
The Man Pillar was taken aback; he hadn't expected this person to act so recklessly. Other disciples saw their senior brother injured and wanted to rush forward but were stopped by the Man Pillar.
Suppressing his inner fury, the Man Pillar politely asked, "May I ask who you are and what brings you to our Barbarian Sect?"
