Wanshitong saw Mu Qiu, as if a mouse had spotted a big cat, hurriedly standing up and retreating nervously.
The others seemed to already understand the situation, watching the two with amusement, as if they were watching a stage play.
"Stop right there!" Mu Qiu firmly halted, hands on her hips, shouting at Wanshitong.
Upon hearing Mu Qiu's command, Wanshitong indeed stopped in his tracks, as if he had run out of power, all his joints suddenly ceasing to function.
"Come here!" Mu Qiu insisted, pointing to the ground beneath her.
Wanshitong hesitated for a moment, glancing at Mu Qiu's fierce gaze filled with killing intent. Ultimately, he lowered his head and walked over to her side.
Mu Qiu hesitated briefly; her originally sharp gaze softened. After adjusting her emotions slightly, she listlessly looked at the crowd before finally fixing her gaze on Lingfeng.
"Lingfeng, I will personally thank you later!" With that statement, Mu Qiu tugged at Wanshitong's ear and walked out the door.
Lingfeng had already guessed the general situation but was still somewhat surprised. He hadn't expected that Wanshitong had an affair with the fierce woman from the Demon Suppression Sect. No wonder Wanshitong was so reluctant to come here; it turned out he feared this female lover!
With Wanshitong taken away, it was now Lingfeng's turn to face Enchanting.
The others looked on with eager anticipation, wanting to see Lingfeng's performance.
Fortunately, Enchanting understood the situation well and did not shout at Lingfeng like Mu Qiu did. Instead, she shot him a fierce glance and then looked at the others with a womanly demeanor, deliberately suppressing her inner anger. She softly said to Lingfeng, "Come with me; I have something to discuss with you!"
Lingfeng silently groaned inwardly. From what he knew about Enchanting, this calmness was definitely not her character. As the saying goes, calmness is the prelude to a storm; Lingfeng was already prepared to be skinned alive.
The two left the crowd and arrived at Water Peak's Red Water Lake.
The lake water remained a deep blue, shimmering beautifully under the light. The air by the shore was fresh and mixed with a humid scent, making Lingfeng feel an unprecedented sense of comfort.
To Lingfeng's surprise, Enchanting did not immediately react. The two walked along the shore, and for a moment, there was an awkward silence.
"Um, dear..." Eventually, Lingfeng could not adapt to Enchanting's silence and spoke first, "Do you want to hear my explanation?"
Enchanting trembled slightly, not because she wanted to hear Lingfeng's explanation, but because of that familiar yet strange term, "dear." Lingfeng had been gone for such a long time, with only a few brief letters sent, and then no news at all. During that time, Azure Vine had returned once, but only to inquire about Lingfeng's whereabouts.
With Lingfeng suddenly appearing, Enchanting felt a mix of joy and sorrow. Hearing him call her "dear" made her heart ache even more. During Lingfeng's absence, she deeply understood what it meant to miss someone dearly; she realized the indescribable anxiety that came from losing contact with a loved one, as if her heart were being burned away.
"You don't need to explain," Enchanting turned her head away, her voice trembling. After a moment, she said, "I just want to know if you've thought about me during this time. I don't want lies; I want to hear your true feelings!"
Lingfeng knew that Enchanting was hurting, but seeing her in pain made his heart ache even more. He quickly turned her around and held her tightly in his arms, wishing he could show her his heart.
"Of course I thought about you; I couldn't sleep for thinking of you. Sometimes I would wake up startled from dreams, almost losing myself in them." Of course, the latter part was just a ploy on Lingfeng's part.
Sure enough, when Enchanting heard that he almost lost himself in his dreams, she looked at him in surprise and then reproached him with tears welling up in her eyes. "How can you let your mind wander while in meditation? Have you thought about what would happen if something happened to you? What would I do?"
As she spoke, a large tear rolled down her cheek, followed by others that fell onto the pebbles by the shore of Red Water Lake.
Feeling a pang in his heart, Lingfeng's eyes also became moist. In that moment, he felt dissatisfied with his own ploy but dared not reveal it. He gently kissed Enchanting's cheek and apologized, "I'm sorry for making you worry. But really, it's so hard without you by my side. I know you've deeply felt this too. Because you're hurting, I'm hurting even more!"
Unbeknownst to them when the mandarin ducks appeared on Red Water Lake, several pairs leisurely floated on the surface of the lake, contrasting sharply with the couple on the shore who were pouring out their hearts to each other.
"By the way, Azure Vine and Shixu came back while you were missing. The sect leader even sent someone to look for you. Where have you been all this time?" Enchanting wiped her tears and then pouted as she wiped away Lingfeng's tears while asking.
Lingfeng sighed and pulled Enchanting to sit on a large rock as he recounted all his experiences. Naturally, he omitted any details about meeting those beautiful women.
Unexpectedly, upon hearing Lingfeng's words, Enchanting became anxious and quickly asked, "How did you manage to infiltrate the Spirit Sect for training? Didn't they notice your cultivation's Spiritual Energy?"
Lingfeng smiled lightly and mysteriously said, "In the Spirit Sect, I only release my own Demon Cultivator aura. As for the aura of cultivators, I rarely let it out!"
"I see, but I didn't expect you to have a dual cultivation physique of Celestial and Demonic!" Enchanting still found it hard to believe.
"By the way, weren't you going to challenge the Demon Cave? Did you succeed?" This news had been on Lingfeng's mind since he heard it a few months ago.
Enchanting covered her mouth and chuckled softly, then tapped Lingfeng on the head playfully and said, "It's already been a while since I wrote to you!"
Lingfeng let out a sigh and looked at Enchanting like a child, softly asking, "So you've already learned the Water Control Technique?"
"I haven't mastered it to the highest level yet; I can only adapt to the environment. If the surroundings are humid, I might be able to gather enough water, but in a desert, it's very difficult!" Enchanting sighed lightly.
The Water Control Technique is not a simple spell; being able to conjure water out of thin air and reach Enchanting's level is quite impressive. Although Lingfeng's cultivation is higher than Enchanting's, his Water Control Technique is still at a basic stage. If they were to compete solely on the Water Control Technique, Lingfeng would definitely not be Enchanting's match.
Since Enchanting has already passed through the Demon Cave, she should have left the Demon Suppression Sect for independent cultivation. Lingfeng asked in confusion, "Since you've already mastered the Water Control Technique, why don't you go home or cultivate on your own?"
Unexpectedly, Lingfeng's words immediately triggered Enchanting's displeasure. She suddenly reached out and grabbed Lingfeng's ear. Just moments ago she had been somewhat reserved, but now she reverted to her true self, speaking with a hint of threat, "What about you? Why are we still here?"
Lingfeng winced in pain but remained clear-headed. Realizing he had misspoken, he pleaded for mercy while quickly saying, "I know, of course I know! It's because my wife is waiting for her husband!"
However, Enchanting did not loosen her grip; instead, she twisted his ear even harder and suddenly shouted, "Since you know I'm waiting for you, why haven't you come back to see me for so long?"
Lingfeng exclaimed softly and gently stroked Enchanting's hand, saying, "Haven't I explained the reason to you?"
"That's not an excuse! Why didn't you even write me a letter?" Enchanting's voice grew hoarse as she felt increasingly upset.
Just as the two were leaving, there was a loud rumble. A white light from behind unleashed some kind of technique that directly knocked down the Demon Cultivator in front of them.
The Demon Cultivator let out a painful cry, and then saw a person falling headfirst above Red Water Lake.
Immediately, a splash of white water erupted from the waves as the Demon Cultivator fell into the water.
The cultivators behind him flashed with spiritual light and gently landed on the surface of Red Water Lake, looking triumphantly at the person in the water.
Lingfeng focused his gaze and realized that the person was actually Mu Feng Peak Master Mu Qiu.
"It seems like a good show is about to unfold!" Lingfeng thought to himself, then pulled Enchanting to hide behind a large rock.
The All-Knowing One was in the water, with only his head exposed, looking up at the arrogant Mu Qiu with a helpless expression.
"Will you admit your mistake?" Mu Qiu said, hands on hips, looking threateningly at the All-Knowing One.
The All-Knowing One tilted his head defiantly and replied, "I did nothing wrong!"
Mu Qiu sneered coldly and then lifted her delicate foot to stomp down on the All-Knowing One's head. The All-Knowing One was taken aback and immediately let out a gurgle as a stream of white bubbles appeared on the Lake Surface of Red Water Lake.
Lingfeng shivered for a moment, thinking that Mu Qiu was too unreasonable to treat the All-Knowing One this way. But then he considered that the All-Knowing One possessed great magical power, far beyond ordinary people; why was he reduced to being a helpless slave under Mu Qiu?
