Although Lingfeng had no memory of Chiyou, Kua Fu's words still instilled a sense of respect for these Demon Gods within him. Regardless, they were all eagerly awaiting the return of their leader. Even though they had grown weary of war, their anticipation for the Demon King Chiyou had not diminished.
Lingfeng nodded to the Demon Gods and then smiled gently, saying, "Everyone, although I have not fully awakened and cannot recall anything about Demon God Chiyou, I would like to thank you all on behalf of Chiyou for your patience!"
The Demon Gods fell silent for a moment before raising their weapons and cheering loudly, "Respect to the Earth, long live the Demon King!"
The resounding cheers echoed through the skies, and Lingfeng felt a surge of emotions.
Kua Fu looked at the Demon Gods with satisfaction and then waved his hand lightly, causing the cheers to gradually subside.
"Today, we welcome the reincarnation of the Demon King Virtuous Soul. We should assist the Demon King in awakening; however, the world is not at peace and requires the Demon King to quell it. Therefore, we must unite our efforts to break the seal and help the Demon King restore order in this chaotic world and coexist with the Three Realms!" Kua Fu proclaimed loudly.
The Demon Gods cheered again, raising their swords and clubs as they shouted, "Restore order in the chaotic world, coexist with the Three Realms..."
"Demon Gods, heed my command!" Kua Fu exclaimed with shining eyes as he suddenly called out to everyone, "Unleash your Demonic Nature and assess the extent of the Demon King's awakening!"
The Demon Gods all stood tall, some with eyes wide open like bells, resembling gods themselves—majestic and solemn.
Lingfeng squinted his eyes and noticed that numerous Demonic Natures were emanating from the Demon Gods, forming a wall made of Demonic Nature between two rows of them. In the middle seemed to be a chaotic beginning where Demonic Nature surged.
Lingfeng was genuinely astonished. Although he enjoyed being impacted by Demonic Nature, such powerful Demonic Nature made him hesitant to look directly at it.
"The Demon King need not worry; although this Demonic Nature is strong, you have already absorbed some Demonic Nature in Spirit Sect. The Spiritual Energy within you will gradually transform as well. If nothing unexpected occurs, the Demonic Nature within you should be sufficient to contend with these Demonic Natures!" Kua Fu noticed Lingfeng's hesitation and stepped forward with a smile.
Although Lingfeng was clueless about these matters, seeing Kua Fu's kind expression made him instinctively nod despite his uncertainty.
Lingfeng looked at the Demon Gods; seeing their eager faces made him slowly exhale before striding forward.
The closer he got to the wall of Demonic Nature between the two rows of Demon Gods, the more he felt an overwhelming sense of tension that gripped his soul. This tension was far stronger than what he had felt in Spirit Sect. However, Lingfeng did not faint immediately; instead, he could feel himself continuously absorbing the endless Demonic Nature from both sides.
Lingfeng observed the expressions on the faces of the two rows of Demon Gods; they became increasingly complex as he approached. It was evident that they seemed to be enduring some pain, relying solely on their willpower to persist.
"Could it be because I am absorbing their Demonic Nature?" Lingfeng paused and murmured inwardly.
"Lord Demon King, do not hesitate. We rely on you to break the seal!" A Black Bear Monster standing nearby said, its facial muscles already beginning to twist, yet still displaying determination.
Lingfeng felt a surge of emotion within, confirming that they were indeed enduring great suffering. However, at the same time, they also harbored hopes of rushing toward freedom.
Lingfeng no longer hesitated. Gritting his teeth, he charged toward the wall forged from Demonic Nature.
As he passed each Demon God, Lingfeng felt as if his body was being filled with energy, and he could see the agonized figures of the Demon Gods in his peripheral vision.
The continuous flow of Demonic Nature emanated from the bodies of the Demon Gods like air, entering through Lingfeng's seven orifices. Although Raging Wind Ridge felt reluctant, what could be more joyful than freedom?
Lingfeng gradually understood that the ability test referred to by Kua Fu was merely an opportunity to channel the Demonic Nature of these Demon Kings into Lingfeng's body. This way, Lingfeng could possess supreme power and break the seal.
What felt like a short distance was akin to walking a thousand miles. Finally, having passed through the last layer of Demonic Nature, the rows of Demon Gods collapsed to the ground due to exhaustion.
At that moment, Lingfeng could not perceive the changes around him; all he saw was a blur of purple—a vague and indistinct purple. As the Demonic Nature surged within him and transformed into Spiritual Energy, the scenes before Lingfeng's eyes gradually cleared up, and he felt an unprecedented sense of fulfillment.
What surprised Lingfeng even more was a sensation of lightness spreading throughout his body, as if his physical form had suddenly turned into air, fearing that he might be blown away by the wind.
After a while, Lingfeng regained his senses and turned to look at the Demon Gods, only to find them sprawled on the ground.
"Are you all alright?" Lingfeng asked with some guilt.
The Demon Gods smiled wearily and shook their heads. "As long as the Demon God can awaken, it is worth enduring any hardship!"
What truly moved Lingfeng was not just their willingness to sacrifice for him but also that he was the reincarnation of Chiyou's Virtuous Soul. During wartime, they had despised Virtuous Souls, but now that they sought peace, they no longer cared about which soul Lingfeng had reincarnated from.
"Now, you have already possessed half of Chiyou's energy. If you can harness the power of a Demon Relic, you will awaken completely!" Kua Fu said quietly.
Lingfeng remained silent for a moment and did not respond.
In truth, Lingfeng had never considered awakening; accepting such energy was merely a hope to return to the Mortal Realm as soon as possible.
"I want to try and see if I can break the seal!" Lingfeng exhaled calmly.
Kua Fu paid no mind to Lingfeng's thoughts. Upon hearing Lingfeng's intention to break the seal, he raised his eyebrows, nodded slightly, and then let out a low grunt. His entire body suddenly floated up, heading towards a massive Altar.
Lingfeng understood that Kua Fu was taking him to the place of the seal, so he tentatively cast a flying spell. To his surprise, as soon as his feet left the ground, he felt as if he were being carried by the wind, transforming into a streak of purple light that shot towards the Altar.
Before long, Lingfeng had already surpassed Kua Fu's flying speed, which took him by surprise.
Upon reaching the Altar, Lingfeng landed on the ground, beads of cold sweat forming on his forehead, yet his face was filled with smiles.
Kua Fu soon arrived, looking at Lingfeng with satisfaction. He then spoke softly, "This Altar is a passage to the Mortal Realm, and the seal lies within this passage. Now that you possess half of Chiyou's divine power, you can easily break through the passage."
Lingfeng nodded and looked up at the sky, only to find that the space above the Altar was black, shaped like an oval, resembling a passageway.
"As demon gods, we cannot break the treaty with the divine realm or leave the demon realm without permission. However, if the Demon King is in trouble, simply call out silently in your heart, and we will rush out of the demon realm to lend our support!" Kua Fu said.
Lingfeng nodded but was unsure what to do next. He glanced at the sky again and cast a flying spell. He became like a streak of purple lightning, shooting straight towards it.
As he saw the black seal getting closer, Lingfeng's right hand formed into a fist, gathering all of his Demonic Nature. Then he propelled himself like a rocket targeting its mark and crashed into the black seal. A purple halo radiated from where Lingfeng collided with the black seal, spreading out like ripples.
The demon gods led by Kua Fu held their breath in tension as they watched the scene unfold.
After a moment, the black seal seemed to open like a well cover being lifted, suddenly shooting out a beam of sunlight directly onto the Altar. Kua Fu stood on the Altar, quietly feeling the warmth of the sunlight and gently closing his eyes.
At that moment, what had been a gray sky shattered like a hit mirror. With a gust of wind sweeping through, those broken dark clouds were scattered away, revealing sunlight that had not shone for millennia.
The gods fell silent for a moment before erupting into cheers like thunder.
Standing at the entrance of the cave, Lingfeng smiled down at the ground, wiped away the sweat from his forehead, transformed into a beam of light, and vanished into the cave.
In fact, Lingfeng did not know that during his absence from this place, ten years had already passed in the Mortal Realm.
Although Lingfeng was tightly chasing time, believing that he had only spent a short while breaking the seal, he did not realize that the seal had severely distorted the flow of time in the Demon Realm, making it equivalent to ten years in the Mortal Realm.
After flying for a while, Lingfeng suddenly saw a bright light ahead and then realized that he was descending rapidly towards the ground.
Lingfeng exclaimed in surprise and quickly stabilized his posture, standing upright in mid-air as he looked down at the situation below.
He saw that beneath him was a towering mountain radiating Spiritual Energy and Demonic Energy, shaped like a gigantic creature.
The shape of the mountain struck Lingfeng as somewhat strange yet familiar. Amidst his curiosity, Lingfeng noticed a wisp of smoke rising from one corner of the mountain, which resembled the head of an animal.
Without thinking much, Lingfeng flew toward the wisp of smoke, then concealed his presence and landed nearby.
To his astonishment, he discovered that the smoke was emanating from incense offerings, and surrounding it were the Hall Masters and disciples of the Spirit Sect, with only the Assassin Hall Master absent.
The Spirit Priest stood in the center of the altar, holding high incense sticks with closed eyes facing the sky, murmuring something under his breath. The Hall Masters and disciples knelt on the ground, motionless.
"With the ritual completed, I summon the Demon Lord!" The Spirit Priest chanted loudly, waving his hand to cast the incense into a large cauldron.
Suddenly, a flash of demonic light appeared beneath the altar, and a bald young man flew up to the altar.
"Monkey Head!" Lingfeng nearly shouted upon seeing the Demon Lord but quickly held back. The Demon Lord was dressed in fine silk and satin, with a handsome face and serious expression; it was indeed an older version of Monkey Head.
