Everything happened in the blink of an eye, and the audience below hadn't even reacted before it was all over.
"Get him!" Lin Xi reacted quickly, shouting at the approaching security guards.
The security guards rushed forward and subdued the shadow on the ground.
"Xingchen, are you okay?" Lin Xi anxiously ran to Su Xingchen's side, looking him up and down, afraid he might be hurt.
"I'm fine." Su Xingchen gently patted Lin Xi's hand, signaling her to relax.
At that moment, the stage lights suddenly turned on, illuminating the face of the assailant.
"Ye Qingtian?!" The audience gasped in shock.
Ye Qingtian was disheveled, his clothes in disarray, his face filled with madness and resentment. He struggled to break free from the security guards' grasp and shouted at Su Xingchen, "Su Xingchen, you ruined me! I won't let you go even if I become a ghost!"
Su Xingchen coldly looked at Ye Qingtian and calmly replied, "Ye Qingtian, this is all your own doing."
Ye Qingtian suddenly laughed maniacally, pointing at the audience below and shouting hoarsely, "You've all been deceived by him; he's not even human!"
Su Xingchen frowned slightly and was about to speak when a clear voice rang out from the audience: "I believe in Brother Xingchen!"
It was Tang Xiaotang. She squeezed through the crowd, ran up to the stage, and stood beside Su Xingchen, firmly stating, "Brother Xingchen is a good person; he would never do anything bad!"
Su Xingchen looked at Tang Xiaotang, a warm smile appearing on his lips. He reached out to pat Tang Xiaotang's head, then turned to the audience below and said, "I know you all have many questions right now, but please believe me, I will prove my innocence!"
Before Su Xingchen finished speaking, Ye Qingtian, who had been subdued, suddenly erupted. He violently pushed aside the security personnel beside him and charged towards Tang Xiaotang like a cornered beast, roaring.
"Tang Xiaotang, be careful!" Su Xingchen's expression changed drastically as he shouted and leaped towards Tang Xiaotang.
Ye Qingtian grabbed Tang Xiaotang's arm, pulling her in front of him. With his other hand, he drew a dagger from his waist and pressed it against her slender neck.
"Don't come any closer!" Ye Qingtian screamed hoarsely, his eyes filled with madness and despair. "If anyone dares to take another step, I'll kill her!"
Tang Xiaotang's eyes widened in terror, tears welling up but she held back from crying out loud.
Su Xingchen stopped in his tracks, his gaze fixed on Ye Qingtian as he said coldly, "Ye Qingtian, you have nowhere left to run. Let Tang Xiaotang go, and I will pretend nothing has happened."
"Hahaha!" Ye Qingtian laughed maniacally, appearing almost insane. "Su Xingchen, who do you think you are? Do you really think you can control everything? Let me tell you, this world is just a huge playground, and we are merely pawns in someone else's game!"
"What exactly do you want to say?" Su Xingchen furrowed his brows, a sense of foreboding rising within him.
Ye Qingtian did not answer. He looked down at Tang Xiaotang in his arms; a complex emotion flickered in his eyes before he concealed it again, replaced by an even more frenzied intensity.
"Su Xingchen, aren't you supposed to be so powerful? Don't you want to protect her? Then kneel! Beg for mercy!" Ye Qingtian shouted hysterically, pressing the dagger harder against Tang Xiaotang's fair neck, drawing a line of blood.
"Ah!" Tang Xiaotang let out a painful groan, tears finally streaming down her face.
"Stop it!" Su Xingchen roared, his fists clenched tightly, veins bulging, as if two flames were burning in his eyes.
"I'll say it again, kneel!" Ye Qingtian shouted, pressing the dagger harder against Tang Xiaotang's neck, blood flowing down and staining her collar.
