The moon hung high in the sky, with no wind and no waves, and the arena was silent. Suddenly, Ye Tian's voice broke the stillness, sounding extremely abrupt.
Wang Tianba and the others were clearly taken aback by his words. Then, a ruthless expression flashed across Wang Tianba's face as he was about to rise, but was stopped by Cold Wu beside him.
"Wait!" Cold Wu said impatiently, his tone quite displeased, as he raised his hand to point at Divine Dragon, who was looking down from the sky after hearing the sound.
"What are we waiting for? If we delay, he might escape!" Wang Tianba shook off Cold Wu and spoke with evident annoyance. However, after glancing at Divine Dragon, he ultimately dared not act recklessly.
"Fool! Do you want to drag me and Brother Xu down with you?" Cold Wu snorted coldly. At this point, he felt no need to consider Wang Tianba's feelings anymore. Although they appeared to be working together, each had their own agenda. It wouldn't be long before Divine Dragon would meet his end, and when that time came, the Divine Dragon Treasure would be up for grabs. In such a situation, who would care about your status as the head of the Wang family? Even if you were a deity, it wouldn't matter much.
"House Head Wang, please remain calm. Brother Cold is only looking out for you. As the saying goes, a starving camel is still bigger than a horse. Although Divine Dragon is at his last gasp, if he truly unleashes his power, we might not be able to withstand it," Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti said softly, a cunning glint flashing in his eyes. He understood that his life or death meant nothing to Cold Wu. The earlier mention of himself was merely an attempt to win favor because all three knew that once they eliminated Ye Tian, chaos would ensue among them over the treasure.
Once the greatest external threat, Ye Tian, was removed, it would undoubtedly lead to infighting over the Divine Dragon Treasure. Among the three, Wang Tianba had the highest strength, which was why Cold Wu sought to win over Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti.
However, Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti's cunning was not something that someone like Cold Wu could match. He knew he was the weakest among them; if Wang Tianba died, would the Cold Weapon Society spare him? Clearly not. Thus, his previous words were quite clever—they calmed Wang Tianba while preserving Cold Wu's dignity.
What he wanted was for the clam and the snipe to fight while the fisherman benefits.
Hearing this, Wang Tianba let out an angry grunt but ultimately did not explode in rage.
"Wang Tianba! Have you forgotten how Wang Hu died? I'm right here; if you have the guts, come avenge him!" Seeing that his previous provocation had failed to incite action from Wang Tianba, Ye Tian felt anxious and spoke again to provoke him. He had once slain Wang Hu, who was Wang Tianba Second Son. Mentioning such blood feuds was bound to ignite his fury.
In truth, Ye Tian did not wish to resort to such tactics, but given the urgency of the situation, being overly concerned with righteousness was foolishness—foolishness that could lead to death.
Ye Tian understood very well what would happen if he couldn't force out a reaction from Wang Tianba. The earlier shout had already alarmed Divine Dragon. If Divine Dragon became enraged, how could he possibly survive?
Indeed, as soon as the words fell, the Divine Dragon let out a low roar, and its massive head dove down rapidly, a chilling light bursting from its enormous eyes that struck fear into the hearts of those present.
The roar caused everyone’s eardrums to ache, but compared to its previous might, it was no longer a cause for concern. This indicated that the Divine Dragon had truly reached its limit and would undoubtedly perish within four hours.
Seeing the Divine Dragon dive, Ye Tian activated the Yuqi Tayan Jue. Since he could not force Wang Tianba out, he had no choice but to take a risk.
This so-called risk meant actively drawing the Divine Dragon towards Wang Tianba and the others. There were two possible outcomes: one, successfully attracting the Divine Dragon's attention to Wang Tianba and the others, leading to mutual destruction; or two, being killed by the chaotic attacks of the three before he could reach them.
Wang Tianba and Cold Wu saw Ye Tian willingly throwing himself into danger and prepared to wait for an opportunity to strike. Only Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti's expression changed dramatically; his lips moved as if to shout, but in the end, he quietly retreated from his hiding place behind a large rock.
Roar...
The hoarse and deep sound echoed again, accompanied by a burst of golden light as a Golden Thunder shot forth, aimed directly at Ye Tian.
Out of the corner of his eye, Ye Tian caught sight of the Golden Thunder emitted from the Divine Dragon's mouth. Although the Divine Dragon was at its last gasp, this Golden Thunder was still powerful enough to obliterate him in an instant.
Recognizing the power of the Golden Thunder, Ye Tian did not prepare to defend; instead, he accelerated with all his might towards Wang Tianba and the others.
Boom!
The Golden Thunder barely grazed past Ye Tian's body, striking the ground with a tremendous explosion. Trees within five zhang of the Square Area were instantly reduced to ashes under such overwhelming force.
A tingling sensation spread across his back, followed by a burning pain. Ye Tian gritted his teeth to endure it, but his movement inevitably slowed down slightly.
At that moment, a second Golden Thunder arrived fiercely, targeting a point slightly ahead of Ye Tian.
"Not good!" Ye Tianxin thought to himself, rushing forward with great inertia. The Divine Dragon clearly anticipated his trajectory, preparing to switch from pursuit to interception.
Ye Tian believed he had no chance of passing before the Golden Thunder struck, so he twisted his body with all his might in mid-air. The effects of Jujutsu manifested once again as he bent his left arm, and the Bagua Xuan Yuan Shield appeared instantly. Without hesitation, he swung his right palm upward. After a muffled sound, he quickly turned to the right, narrowly avoiding the deadly strike of Golden Thunder.
His earlier action used his left arm as a pivot point, but he couldn't guarantee its effectiveness. Now that he had successfully evaded Golden Thunder, he couldn't help but feel a sense of relief. However, even so, his left arm was numb and painful from absorbing the impact, and it was likely that there were fractures in the bone.
Although he had dodged Golden Thunder, the situation became even more perilous. He was about twenty zhang away from the boulder where Wang Tianba and the others were hiding. For Ye Tian, a single dash could cover that distance, but having already charged twice before, he would need to catch his breath after this next sprint. If he paused to breathe, it would create a brief moment of stagnation that could lead to his demise since the three opponents were undoubtedly prepared to strike at that moment. A single breath was enough for them to launch their attacks.
As countless countermeasures raced through his mind, he ultimately found himself at a loss. Just then, a third Golden Thunder struck again, pushing Ye Tian into a dangerous predicament with threats both ahead and behind.
However, what eased his mind slightly was that the momentum of this Golden Thunder had clearly weakened. It seemed that the Divine Dragon's continuous use of Golden Thunder was draining its energy, and it could no longer maintain its previous power under sustained attacks.
This situation sparked an idea in Ye Tian's mind. The weakened Golden Thunder's power was equivalent to a full-force strike from a Three-Stage Martial Artist, but this time it likely wouldn't even reach the level of a Second-Stage Martial Artist. Therefore, Ye Tian chose to withstand it head-on.
With determination, the Bagua Xuan Yuan Shield appeared instantly as he infused both Martial Origin Power and Spiritual Energy into the Golden Bagua. The fusion of these two powers caused the Bagua Pattern to shine brightly, enhancing its defensive capabilities to their peak.
Then came a violent shockwave as an immense recoil surged through his body. With a jolt in his heart veins, Ye Tian's figure shot sideways like a tattered cloth.
This move was a gamble for stability amidst danger; however, Ye Tian was shocked to realize he had underestimated the power of Golden Thunder. Earlier, he had judged it to be equivalent to that of a Second-Stage Martial Artist, but now the dizziness and numbness coursing through him made it clear that even this relatively weaker Golden Thunder reached the strength of an early full-force strike from a Three-Stage Martial Artist.
Unable to resist the rapid backward flight, Ye Tian struggled to steady his mind and then forced himself to conjure the Vortex Profound Skill. A massive vortex of origin power appeared beside him, generating suction that quickly formed a sphere made of dry leaves and broken branches.
Since it was composed of dry leaves and branches, it was very soft. The impact was significantly reduced when this makeshift cushion hit the ground; however, Ye Tian still felt dizzy and lightheaded from the fall as blood surged within him.
Even so, after landing, Ye Tian wasted no time getting back on his feet and darted toward a tree thick enough for three people to embrace. Once hidden away, he took out a healing Spiritual Pill and swallowed it before cautiously peeking out to observe the battlefield.
The Divine Dragon, having lost its target, glared with fierce anger in its enormous eyes. It was a divine beast, and even the ancient monsters with immense powers had to bow before it. Yet today, despite several attempts, it had failed to kill even a single insignificant human, which fueled its rage.
Although furious, the injuries from its failed tribulation were severe, and with the night falling and Ye Tian hiding closely, the Divine Dragon could not find its enemy after several searches. In frustration, it let out a long roar that shook the surroundings, sending chills through anyone who heard it.
After the roar, the Divine Dragon seemed disheartened. Whether it was due to fatigue or disappointment, it snorted and suddenly plunged into the lake, creating a splash of water before disappearing from sight.
With the Divine Dragon retreating into the lake to lie in wait, the scene returned to calmness. After a while, Wang Tianba could no longer contain himself and turned to Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti to ask if they should strike down Ye Tian.
However, as he turned around, his expression changed drastically. After frowning several times, he angrily asked Cold Wu, "Where is Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti?!"
Cold Wu looked back and saw nothing but emptiness behind him; there was not a single shadow in sight.
"Damn it! That bastard must be hiding nearby, trying to take advantage of us!" Wang Tianba cursed under his breath, his eyes seemingly ready to burst into flames.
"If he shows up again, we should join forces to kill him!" Cold Wu's nostrils flared, clearly angry as well.
At that moment, Ye Tian had quietly perched on a high branch of an ancient tree, looking down at Wang Tianba and Cold Wu's every move. By reading their lips, Ye Tian roughly understood their conversation and couldn't help but chuckle inwardly. While these two might not seem foolish among ordinary people, compared to Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti, they were merely puppets being played with.
Just as Ye Tian was thinking this, he suddenly heard Jingfeng Lei Kuan Ti's voice behind him.
"Young Master Ye, if we join forces, great things can be accomplished."
