Ye Tian dodged to the side, but the blood-red light followed closely, as if it had a mind of its own, almost like a living creature.
Furrowing his brow, this strange technique was something Ye Tian had never encountered before. Whether it was an anomaly or from the Blood Sect or Spirit Sect, he had never seen such a peculiar method.
The red light surged again. Ye Tian thought that since he couldn't evade it, he might as well confront it head-on. He struck out with his palm, unleashing the power of Stormy Winds and Thunder once more, distorting the space around him with a sizzling sound.
With the illumination of Divine Origin Power, Ye Tian finally discerned what the red light was.
It had a triangular head and red fangs; it was a dark red venomous snake!
"Is this the ability to control beasts?" Ye Tian wondered as he struck. At this moment, Crimson Dragon Power accompanied his every move, revealing his true form. Otherwise, he wouldn't have earned the title of Dragon Shadow Prince.
However, this was precisely what puzzled him. Logically speaking, any low-level or even some high-level beasts would be frightened away upon sensing Crimson Dragon's True Form and would choose to flee rather than fight. Yet this Red Venomous Snake dared to charge forward. If it wasn't being controlled by someone, what could explain its behavior?
Then Ye Tian recalled the earlier scene where the shadow's palm stretched twice and transformed into a venomous snake. Such an unusual technique was beyond Ye Tian's comprehension.
Void Beasts had the ability to summon anomalous entities that could transform into human forms, which they referred to as their true selves. The Blood Sect could draw beast bloodlines into their bodies and transform into beast forms, but that could only be done with low-level beast blood. The more one transformed into a beast form, the weaker they were. The fact that this person could escape under Ye Tian's full power clearly indicated that they were not someone of low strength.
Since they were not from the Blood Sect, the last possibility was that they were Void Beasts.
"Regardless of what you are, today I will eliminate you!" Ye Tian shouted fiercely as golden light radiated from his fingers, reaching directly for the Red Venomous Snake.
Sensing Ye Tian's momentum and seemingly understanding his words, the Red Venomous Snake suddenly turned in mid-air and attempted to flee.
"Where do you think you're going!" Ye Tian exerted force in his arm and used Jujutsu, extending his arm several feet into thin air. With a grasp of Ling Kong, he caught the Red Venomous Snake in his hand.
Immediately afterward, he clenched his fist tightly, intending to crush the Red Venomous Snake.
However, the bizarre scene unfolded once again. In the thick darkness of the night, a muffled grunt was heard, and then, as if appearing out of thin air, an arm reached out towards Ye Tian's neck.
Ye Tian furrowed his brows and instinctively blocked the incoming arm with his hand, almost automatically lifting his foot to kick in the direction of the attacking limb.
Bang!
With a muffled sound, Ye Tian felt as if he had kicked a person’s body. The force dissipated, and a vague humanoid figure that seemed to blend into the darkness was sent flying backward.
"An invisibility technique?" Ye Tian's heart jolted, but since the opponent was in an uncontrollable state, he easily pursued them.
Raising his hand downwards, based on his judgment, he directly grabbed the opponent by the neck.
"Reveal your true form and state your background. I might consider sparing your life," Ye Tian said coldly. After experiencing battles and killings, he exuded a sharp aura akin to a blade at all times. This had nothing to do with Crimson Dragon's True Form; it was pure killing intent.
However, the opponent did not seem afraid. Yet, due to being restrained and lacking breath, they still revealed their true appearance.
It was a middle-aged man who looked to be in his thirties. He had a somewhat hunched physique and an ugly face marked by cruelty and hatred. At this moment, his nostrils flared as he looked at Ye Tian with eyes that seemed ready to spit fire.
Ye Tian frowned at him and after a moment asked, "Who are you? Where is Duan Liu?"
The man remained silent, displaying an attitude of defiance unto death.
"Heh heh, you refuse to speak? You should know that challenging my patience is a very unwise choice." As he spoke, Ye Tian tightened his grip, causing the man's face to turn red instantly.
"I'll give you two chances. The first has already been wasted. Now I ask you one last time: who are you? Who sent you? Did you harm my friend?" Ye Tian pressed on repeatedly, emanating an overwhelming and fierce aura.
"I am Qishan Warrior, specializing in killing you Martial Sovereigns!" The man shouted with great effort before suddenly sticking out his tongue, preparing to bite it off in suicide.
Seeing this, Ye Tian quickly took the initiative and directly broke the man's jawbone, preventing him from biting down with force.
The man, furious and desperate, could not bite down but continued to speak without hesitation. His eyes burned with anger as he shouted at Ye Tian, "You bastard, hurry up and kill me! I would rather die than endure this humiliation!"
Ye Tian was infuriated by the insults. Although the man intended to harm him, it felt as if he was being accused of a great wrongdoing, which was completely unreasonable.
However, no matter how angry he was, he could not bring himself to kill the man. What he had said earlier was purely meant to intimidate him.
After all, Duan Liu's life or death was uncertain, and it was ninety percent likely related to this man. Without clear information about Duan Liu, he dared not kill him.
As if sensing Ye Tian's thoughts, the man shouted loudly, "Your friend has already been killed by me! Come avenge him and kill me!"
"You want to die so badly? I won't let you die that easily. I'll take you back with me, and I have plenty of ways to humiliate you," Ye Tian began to threaten. To be honest, over the years, he had captured many prisoners—if not a hundred, at least eighty—but he had never humiliated anyone.
This wasn't because Ye Tian was soft-hearted; rather, as a warrior, he believed that a soldier could be killed but should never be humiliated. He thought that if one day he fell into enemy hands, he wouldn't seek mercy but would only desire a quick end.
Of course, Ye Tian was currently in a difficult position and could not grant this man a swift death; otherwise, what would happen to Duan Liu? He couldn't just abandon his brother for the enemy's sake.
"I am a Qishan Warrior! Your pathetic methods have no effect on me!" the man continued to shout defiantly but was forcibly lifted by Ye Tian.
"Stop shouting; you won't know until you try," Ye Tian sneered.
"No need to try. Since I've fallen into your hands, I have no face to return to see the Mountain Lord. But don't think you can extract anything from me; it's a waste of effort. Just kill me!" The man continued shouting with an air of indifference towards death.
"Heh, does Qishan have any secrets left? Besides, the Mountain Master is ruthless and treats your lives like grass. I really don't understand why you Qishan Warriors are willing to sell your lives for him," Ye Tian said casually. In reality, he knew nothing about it; although he spoke as if he understood a lot, if one were to analyze it closely, his statement had many flaws.
However, Ye Tian was confident that with this man's intelligence, he would surely fall for his trap.
He said that the Qishan Mountain Master is ruthless not without reason, but rather through analyzing this person's actions and words.
Consider this: if this person is fearless of death and engages in assassination activities, what kind of organization would Qishan be, and what kind of identity does this person hold?
The answer is obvious: he is an assassin. As a place that cultivates assassins, what kind of methods would their leader need, or what kind of personality would they possess?
The answer becomes even clearer: life is as insignificant as grass, ruthless and cold-blooded to the extreme!
Ye Tian carefully analyzed and added a few confusing remarks, estimating that this person would undoubtedly fall for it. From his words and actions, he clearly belonged to someone who was brave but lacked strategy.
Sure enough, the man was taken aback for a moment before speaking again.
He said, "We Qishan Warriors are all loyal by choice, and we pledge our loyalty to Qishan, not to the Mountain Lord. So whether he is ruthless or cold-blooded does not affect my faith."
"Hahaha, what a joke," Ye Tian laughed wildly and continued, "What is your faith? The Qishan deity? Have you seen it?"
Upon hearing this, the man was momentarily speechless and couldn't find his words.
"The so-called Qishan deity is merely fabricated by your great Mountain Lord. Even if it really exists, at most it would just be a powerful beast," Ye Tian continued.
"That's nonsense. Beasts are beasts, deities are deities. Although I haven't seen it, that doesn't shake my faith!"
"Never seen it, so where does your faith come from?" Ye Tian mocked.
"Just because I haven't seen it means I have no faith? You Martial Sovereigns believe in the War God, have you ever seen the true form of the War God?" The man immediately retorted.
"Haha, you speak the truth. However, I do not believe in the War God, I believe in myself."
"You don't believe in the War God? Don't deceive yourself. If you don't believe in the War God, why are you learning the Martial Sovereign techniques and joining the Martial Sovereign?"
"Joining the Martial Sovereign means believing in the War God? What kind of logic is that? Let me show you, my beliefs are numerous." As he spoke, Ye Tianxin moved slightly, opening his Spirit Pouch, and his spiritual energy extended outward, forming a light blue Light Barrier in front of him.
"Do you recognize what this is?"
The person was momentarily stunned and stammered, "Spiritual... spiritual energy..."
"I'll give you some credit for having some knowledge. Now take a look at this." After saying that, Ye Tian's forehead burst with golden light, and then a Crimson Dragon Mark emerged.
"The Azure Dragon Seal! It's actually the Azure Dragon Seal! You are the Dragon Shadow Prince?!" This time, the person's reaction was unprecedentedly strong, filled with a sense of awe.
Seeing this, Ye Tian was also somewhat puzzled. The title Dragon Shadow Prince was given to him by his opponents; he thought it sounded nice and didn't object to it—nothing more than that, with no special meaning.
"I am Lu Lao Liu, paying my respects to the Dragon Shadow Prince." Although Ye Tian was holding him up, it did not prevent him from making a kneeling gesture.
Ye Tian was taken aback again. What was it about the Dragon Shadow Prince that made this person so reverent?
"Wait, don't rush to pay your respects. Do you know me?"
"Of course I recognize you. You are the Dragon Shadow Prince, a descendant of our Qishan ancestors."
Hearing this, Ye Tian was directly stunned. The mystery of his origins that he had been searching for was unexpectedly hinted at by this person in such a situation...
