Zhong Kui's Diary
Half an hour after getting in the car, the traffic finally began to move slowly. By the time we arrived at the airport, it was already more than an hour late. However, since the flight was also delayed by an hour, we just made it in time.
There were about ten people at the arrival gate, and almost everyone was holding a sign with the name of their friend or relative on it. Xiao Qingcheng glanced at Lingfeng and smiled, "Brother Ling, where's your arrival sign?"
Lingfeng was taken aback: "We've known each other for so long; do you really think I wouldn't have one?"
Xiao Qingcheng smiled knowingly and said, "How long has it been since you last saw Gu Yi?"
Lingfeng thought for a moment: "It's been almost three years."
"Then that's it," Xiao Qingcheng said with a meaningful smile. "Three years can change not just appearances but also personalities. You know, Gu Yi has quite the presence now. If you're not formal enough, when she gets angry, you might not be able to handle it."
"I've heard about that; it shouldn't be too bad, right?" Lingfeng replied somewhat anxiously.
"Just pretend I didn't say anything," Xiao Qingcheng rolled her eyes.
I couldn't help but wonder if Cui Gu Yi really had become that arrogant.
A commotion erupted ahead as a group of people surged forward—men and women of all ages, all dressed in leather and fur coats. At first glance, it was quite dazzling.
"Gu Yi! Gu Yi!" Lingfeng suddenly waved and shouted. Following his gesture, I saw a girl in a red leather jacket walking towards us, dragging a suitcase behind her.
The girl had an extremely sweet appearance and was quite tall. The collar of her leather jacket was lined with a circle of shiny black fur, which accentuated her rosy and cute face even more.
Upon seeing Lingfeng wave, Cui Gu Yi looked over with a bright smile, waving back as she walked towards us.
I glanced at Xiao Qingcheng, the meaning was clear; she was clearly a cute girl next door. How could you compare to her? Unexpectedly, I saw Xiao Qingcheng making a 'K' gesture towards Cui Gu Yi. She then turned around and, noticing me looking at her, gave me a half-smile and nodded.
Cui Gu Yi walked up to us and linked her arm with Lingfeng's. "Cousin!"
Lingfeng smiled and said, "It's been three years, Gu Yi, and you've become even more beautiful!"
The two siblings exchanged a few pleasantries, and then Cui Gu Yi greeted Xiao Qingcheng with a smile, casually handing me the suitcase she was holding. "Cousin, is this your helper? Not bad-looking, but seems a bit lacking in spirit."
Helper? It seemed to be a general term for subordinates in the capital. Politely, it could be called a guest or house servant; less politely, it would be lackeys or minions.
I didn't take it to heart, accepting the suitcase and smiling without saying anything.
Lingfeng said seriously, "This is my friend and also my brother, Zhong Zhengnan. He was the first to discover the strange happenings with the computer script."
Cui Gu Yi looked at me, her eyes darting around before she spoke. "Hello, Zheng Nan. You really have it tough for being friends with someone like Lingfeng."
Lingfeng was taken aback. "What do you mean by that?"
Cui Gu Yi's expression changed as she released Lingfeng's arm and placed one hand on her hip while pointing at him. "Do you know who I'm working for now? I have to face countless hackers from abroad every day; I’m practically in a life-and-death struggle against foreign forces every second. And now you come along with a few nice words, and Grandpa calls me over to Star City. That’s fine since we’re relatives, but couldn’t you make it more formal? You pick me up like this without even bringing a bodyguard. If something happens to me, can you take responsibility?"
Cui Gu Yi fired off questions like a machine gun, leaving Lingfeng bewildered. I couldn't help but sigh; her mood changed faster than flipping a page in a book. I looked over at Xiao Qingcheng and saw her looking pleased.
Lingfeng's face turned pale then flushed red as he struggled to respond. Cui Gu Yi stepped forward again and linked her arm with his. "Brother, I’m just joking! What’s wrong? You wouldn’t be so petty, would you?"
Lingfeng forced a smile. "Sister Cui, please don’t joke like that..."
"Who’s your sister? Who are you calling sister? Who are you insulting? You better clarify your words today..." Cui Gu Yi's face was full of anger.
I quickly called out to Fatty to turn around and leave; I couldn't bear to watch any longer. If I had such a sister, I... I... never mind, that scenario doesn't exist.
...
Upon returning to Lingfeng's house, chaos was inevitable. Cui Gu Yi was once again nitpicking about this and that, but eventually settled down. I had already brought Ami's computer into her room. This room had a brand new computer, and all the necessary components were configured according to the list faxed by Cui Gu Yi, which was quite expensive.
Just like last time when we watched A-Jian set up a computer, this time the three of us were still gathered behind Cui Gu Yi, even in the same positions, except there was an additional person beside me, Xiao Qingcheng.
Cui Gu Yi first took out a USB drive and plugged it into the new computer, seemingly installing some software. He casually tapped a few keys on the keyboard and then said nonchalantly, "Hey, Fatty, take apart this old computer and remove the hard drive."
Fatty looked stunned and replied, "But I don't know how."
Cui Gu Yi smiled and said, "It's very simple; I can teach you right here!"
Fatty remained bewildered: "Why teach me? Why not teach Zheng Nan or Lingfeng?"
Cui Gu Yi grinned mischievously: "I've never seen Fatty squat down before; isn't this a perfect opportunity?"
Fatty's eyes widened in surprise as he hesitated. Lingfeng patted him on the shoulder: "Brother, just bear with it for now; I'll get you an annual card!"
"Annual card?" Fatty initially didn't understand but then his expression brightened as he exclaimed, "Health Treatment? Haha, it's a deal!"
With some effort, he squatted down and followed Cui Gu Yi's instructions to remove Ami's computer hard drive. After waiting for Cui Gu Yi to finish installing the software on the new computer and shutting it down, they connected the hard drive to the new machine.
When they powered it back on, Cui Gu Yi asked Lingfeng for a piece of gum. Chewing it casually while tapping on the keyboard, he didn't have A-Jian's lightning-fast typing speed nor was he deep into programming; it felt like a student sitting in front of us, humming a tune while chatting with classmates.
On the computer screen, various prompts popped up from time to time, merely asking whether to continue or not.
Is she really a computer expert? Could she be here just to gain clicks, flowers, and votes?
After about three or four minutes, an octopus popped up on the computer screen. Its eight tentacles vividly extended in all directions, trembling a few times as if they were grabbing the screen. Then the entire octopus began to turn transparent, revealing a panel resembling a DS interface with a blinking cursor, but the background color was pink. At this moment, Cui Gu Yi started typing on the keyboard, her fingers dancing like blooming lotus flowers as lines of commands jumped rapidly across the interface.
After about twenty minutes, she hit the enter key, and the octopus panel suddenly vanished. She then calmly asked, "Did you find someone to check the computer? And then some strange things happened?"
Lingfeng nodded and cleared his throat, saying, "That's right. A-Jian is also a computer expert."
Cui Gu Yi scoffed, "There aren't that many experts around. Hmm, strange things, you say? Take a look; is it something like this?" While saying this, she brushed her hair with her left hand and typed a few keys with her right hand. The computer displayed a DS interface filled with a long string of command symbols being rapidly deleted. At that moment, Cui Gu Yi's hands had already left the keyboard; she wasn't doing anything at all.
"Yes!"
"Exactly!"
"That's it!"
The three of us spoke simultaneously.
Hearing our responses, Cui Gu Yi chuckled lightly and typed a few more keys before standing up. On the screen appeared A-Jian's Awesome Antivirus Software, followed by the screen turning green with three large black words flashing: "Get Lost!"
Next came the automatic shutdown of the computer, followed by an automatic restart, displaying a series of insulting phrases.
We three were dumbfounded; it felt like we were witnessing a replay of that incident. I even pinched my arm to prove I wasn't dreaming.
"So everything was A-Jian's doing?" Fatty said hoarsely. Seeing this situation unfold, even a pig would have understood that it was just A-Jian creating illusions in Ami's room.
"Fatty, did you accidentally find out he was good with computers, or did he tell you himself?" I asked.
"Yes, he approached me first and even showcased various hacking techniques like a treasure," Fatty replied confidently.
"This A-Jian seems to be a substitute character, initially getting close to Fatty through his cousin An Ran, then showing off his skills to Fatty. This way, whenever we have any computer-related needs, he will be the first person we think of. When we want to look up Ami's computer chat content, A-Jian will come out to play tricks," Lingfeng frowned and said, "But what is his intention? Why is he so eager to befriend you? Is there something special about you that attracts him?"
"What could I possibly have?" After saying this, I was momentarily stunned. Then Lingfeng and Fatty looked at me strangely. If I really had something that would make someone go to such lengths, it must be the Book of Life and Death. Other than that, I couldn't think of anything else with any value.
However, this didn't make sense either. Considering the manpower and resources of Isolated from the World, they could easily use a machine gun to blow my head off and take the treasure directly without all these elaborate schemes. They could even kidnap Guo'er, and with just one word from me, I would happily deliver the treasure myself, even tying it with a bow first.
Thinking about this gave me a headache. My gaze drifted around the room and landed on Cui Gu Yi, who had a mocking expression. My heart skipped a beat; what did this girl mean by that look?
Seeing me looking at her, Cui Gu Yi's mockery became even more apparent as she said, "What's the use of all this? Just grab him and ask directly! Cousin, I hear you're a Public Security captain; you can't even handle one security guard?"
Her words jolted me awake. Right! Why not just beat A-Jian up? Lingfeng might still consider the impact and consequences, but Fatty and I didn’t need to worry about that.
We rushed to Prosperous Garden in a car. A crowd had gathered at the entrance, whispering among themselves about something. As we got closer after getting out of the car, we saw a person lying on the ground covered in blood. Who else could it be but A-Jian?
