Zhong Kui's Diary
Xiao Qingcheng!
This person is actually Xiao Qingcheng. How did Xiao Qingcheng end up here? Could she be Isolated from the World?
No, it seems that the slightly shorter figure in the black robe is the one in charge. I turned my gaze to the other black-robed figure and said sternly, "Who are you?"
The black-robed figure snorted, removed his helmet, and lifted the black cloth.
Cui Gu Yi!
This black-robed figure is actually Cui Gu Yi, the computer expert from the Ling Family.
Cui Gu Yi rolled his eyes at me and pointed to himself with a thumbs-up gesture, saying, "I am Isolated from the World!"
Hearing Cui Gu Yi say this, my mind felt like hundreds of sparrows were chirping chaotically, as if ten Shanzhai Phones were playing different tunes, from the moon to Love Trade... it was all a mess.
Cui Gu Yi is actually Isolated from the World. What the hell? How could Cui Gu Yi be Isolated from the World?
And then there's Xiao Qingcheng, and this Aijia Yu. What on earth is going on?
My mind was in disarray, like two armies clashing in a movie, with various guns roaring and smoke filling the air. Then, subtitles appeared in the thick smoke: six words—what the hell is going on?
"You just now... you wanted to ask me to help you with something?" I swallowed hard and said to Xiao Qingcheng.
"Yes," Xiao Qingcheng nodded.
"Alright, I agree, but you need to tell me the whole story," I said firmly.
Xiao Qingcheng glanced at Cui Gu Yi, who nodded and said, "Okay, feel free to ask me anything you want to know."
Aijia Yu chimed in from the side, "Sister Cui, it's already four-thirty..."
"As long as Zheng Nan agrees, the next steps will be very simple and can be completed in a few minutes, no problem," Cui Gu Yi said confidently.
"Uh, was this whole thing planned by you from the beginning?" I couldn't help but ask a rather foolish question.
As soon as I finished speaking, I was met with Cui Gu Yi's eye roll. "Yes, should I hang a sign on my chest that says I'm the mastermind for you to believe me? Is that all you wanted to know?"
I was taken aback for a moment; suddenly being asked to inquire left me at a loss. My mind was flooded with questions, and I didn't know which one to ask first. It felt like when the school bell rings and all the students rush to the door, only to get stuck at the entrance, unable to get out.
After a while of dazing, I managed to sort through some of my questions and asked, "Why me? Why did you choose me?"
Cui Gu Yi laughed. "Oh please, you think you're so impressive, but you're just a helper!" This phrase coming from Cui Gu Yi reminded me of when I had just obtained Xu Qingyu's fingerprint; it felt like a moment of confusion. It seemed something was off; it turned out it was this term—'helper'—that only people from the capital would use.
"Is that so? Since I'm just a helper, then I'm expendable. You can continue; I'll just watch coldly," I deduced from Xiao Qingcheng's attitude that there was definitely something important I needed to do, and only I could do it. It might even relate to my Yin-Yang Physique. Otherwise, why would someone as impressive as Aijia Yu or Xiao Qingcheng need me?
"Alright, I admit I was wrong." Cui Gu Yi paused for a moment and then smiled. "You're already grown up; is it really worth it to argue with a sixteen-year-old? The reason we chose you is because of your good relationship with the Jin Family and your Yin-Yang Physique."
So it really was related to my Yin-Yang Physique.
"This key is hidden by Li Feidao in the secret room of Golden Blade Advertising Company. Because of your connection with Jin Zhenzhong, I slightly altered Manager Su's conversation with Jin Zhenzhong and got you transferred to Golden Blade Advertising Company. Only by suddenly becoming their Loss Prevention Manager would it not raise any suspicions and give you the opportunity to steal this key."
"Li Feidao?" I looked at Cui Gu Yi suspiciously.
"Yes, Li Feidao. Zheng Nan, I'm not joking with you; do you think I'm trying to fool you?" Cui Gu Yi looked troubled as if she didn't know how to explain this to me.
"Not really, because I know about Li Feidao; the Moon City Yang Family was hunted down by him." I replied calmly, though inside I was shocked. It turned out that Yang Zi's Li Feidao had such wide connections.
"Since you know about this, then for many things, I just need to mention them briefly for you to understand," Cui Gu Yi said with relief upon hearing that I was aware of this matter. "Whether it's the Ling Family, Xiao Family, or Yang Family, we all have a lot of unspeakable secrets in their hands. These secrets are like the Sword of Damocles hanging over our heads, capable of destroying our families at any moment."
"If you don't do anything wrong, you won't fear ghosts knocking on your door!" I scoffed.
"Some things are not as simple as you imagine. Just like the primitive accumulation of capital must be bloody; every family's early history has some inhumane secrets—whether smuggling or plundering," Cui Gu Yi said with a bitter smile that seemed uncharacteristic for her age. "We don't need to delve into this; anyway, these families are all thinking about erasing these original sins and are willing to go to any lengths."
"You are already a computer expert; hacking into the database should be a matter of minutes. Why make it so complicated?" I asked, puzzled.
"Li Feidao anticipated this situation long ago. Not only does he have this data stored in the computer, but he also preserved this evidence in the most primitive way, keeping it in an absolutely secure location. This place is the Fifty-Six District! It holds the lifeblood of all the major families!" Cui Gu Yi coughed lightly. "Don't be fooled by how simple this underground passage looks; I can tell you that there are at least a hundred of the most bizarre and strange traps and mechanisms on that elevator over there. No one can force their way through those mechanisms. It was only ten years ago that my grandfather came up with this clever solution, directly opening the tunnel at the last safe passage of the Fifty-Six District."
"Uh, I wonder why your grandfather didn't just dig the tunnel inside the door?" I pointed at the metal door.
"Impossible, because this room is a massive iron block with alloy walls that are ten meters thick. No one can break through it." Cui Gu Yi glanced at the metal door and smiled wryly again. "Xu Qingyu is merely the keykeeper of the Fifty-Six District; he isn't even qualified to enter this underground database. As for Golden Blade Advertising Company, now you know why it's called that, right? The Jin Family and Li Feidao are in cahoots."
No wonder this name sounded so strange; I initially thought it referred to Golden Blade as a title. Listening to this, could it be that the Jin Family and Li Feidao had some sort of collaboration?
"Jin Manyuan knows a little about this, but Jin Zhenzhong is unaware," Cui Gu Yi seemed to know what I was thinking and said with a smile. "Jin Manyuan is an old fox who has tried every means to establish a connection with Li Feidao, but they never became too close, so his family is relatively safer than ours. So, do you have any other questions?"
"Why did you kidnap Yang Guo'er to threaten Lingfeng and almost kill him? What about those scripts?" A series of questions about the scripts popped into my mind.
"This matter is highly confidential. The initiators are Yang Family's elder and my grandfather along with several heads of families, while we are the specific executors. Yang Guo'er and Lingfeng were unaware of the situation. Knowing that you have a good relationship with Jin Zhenzhong and hearing Lingfeng inadvertently mention that you are Yin-Yang Physique, we set you as our target for a series of plans. Those so-called scripts were just meant to keep your mind racing, making you feel that Guo'er was always in danger so that you would do everything possible to steal the key."
At this point, Cui Gu Yi smiled charmingly. "Sister Guo and I have a very good relationship; how could I harm her? And as for Lingfeng, why did his car break down halfway? It was all my doing! As for Jiang Haoyu, if my grandfather hadn't given direct orders, how could he have kidnapped Lingfeng? Don't worry; Lingfeng and Yang Guo'er should already know what happened; they are both fine and not missing a single hair."
I was stunned into silence for a moment before saying, "Fatty and A-Jian aren't dead either?"
Cui Gu Yi nodded. "That's right. After A-Jian was seen by you on the street, I immediately ordered Jiang Haoyu to transfer the team responsible for A-Jian's case elsewhere; they naturally know best whether A-Jian is alive or dead. A-Jian is a talent; how could we easily sacrifice him?"
"Damn it, does that mean Feng Zhen's classmates and Zhen Shuai can be sacrificed without hesitation?"
Cui Gu Yi looked at me disdainfully. "In such major operations, how could we not sacrifice some unimportant people? Zhen Shuai should die for having an affair with Secretary while having a family; if Feng Zhen and others didn't have ulterior motives towards Teacher Sha, how could they easily fall for it?"
What about Teacher Sha? What did she do wrong? I wanted to shout out loud, but from Cui Gu Yi's indifferent expression, it was clear she didn't care much about the life or death of an ordinary person. Sighing softly, I asked, "Alright then, what do you want me to do?"
Cui Gu Yi gestured towards Xiao Qingcheng. "You handle this."
Xiao Qingcheng cleared her throat. "Zheng Nan, you just mentioned encountering the ghost guarding the key in that secret room, right? If it weren't for sheer luck, you and Fatty would probably have been taken out by that ghost already."
"That's right!" I nodded.
"Not only are there ghosts guarding over there, but there's also a ghost in this room," Xiao Qingcheng said seriously.
"Come on, Nan Kong, you're the top Taoist today; you should be better at dealing with ghosts, right?" I frowned.
"That's true, ordinary ghosts and even regular gods are no match for me," Xiao Qingcheng replied calmly, showing no pride in being the top Taoist, as if it were someone else's business. "However, this ghost is a bit strange; he is also a Yin-Yang Physique."
"So what? With your cultivation level, taking down a Yin-Yang Physique shouldn't be too difficult, right?" I said with a smirk. Damn it, another Yin-Yang Physique; it seems like every rare occurrence is associated with some powerful entity.
"The files in this room are stored in a peculiar cabinet. The material of the cabinet's exterior is very special. I heard you used to have a Yin-Yang Ancient Coin, right? Yes, the exterior of this cabinet is made from the material of the Yin-Yang Ancient Coin; only someone with a Yin-Yang Physique can open it." A hint of a bitter smile similar to Cui Gu Yi flashed across Xiao Qingcheng's lips.
"Alright, I'm fine with that." I turned to Fatty and asked, "Do you have any questions?"
Fatty hesitated for a moment and said, "Who designed this script? Why didn't they arrange for me to duel Master Cang at the Forbidden City Summit?"
Cui Gu Yi chuckled softly, "I didn't realize you were so infatuated with Master Cang. It's not a big deal; after this is over, I'll arrange for her to battle you for three hundred rounds."
Fatty smiled happily and walked over to pick up the key without breaking a sweat. "Since that's the case, I should contribute as well; I'll take care of opening the door."
